Checking in...

Lots of posts to come....enjoyed 4 more Christmas celebrations and one to come in Abilene on Monday. I have slept in twice, deep cleaned the house, and began taking down decorations...80 degrees and Christmas just don't mix. I did a little bit of shopping today...LOVED every minute of it, traffic and all. I am currently debating on going to our monthly Plano Pacers run tomorrow at 8AM. I think it is a 8K, so it will not be too bad, but the early morning part and this Lubbock like wind is tempting me to stay in bed. I'll also be the only one from my group to go..thanks Mer and Marisa ; )

Hmmm, what a girl to do....ugh...but I did get new running kicks from J and my awesome MIL.....we'll see.

Jake's stocking stuffers

Homemade stockings survived year 6

We'll miss you FAT Christmas tree...you filled our home with a fabulous smell!

Shout out to Michael and Nichole....I get to see ya'll soon!!! I can't wait to check out your new digs and ride...I see plenty of Cru and Mi Cocina nights in our future! Jake says hi and can't wait to snuggle with Michael...ha/ha!

Feliz Navidad,

Me VS. Spray Paint

I had a WONDERFUL idea for a couple of Christmas gifts this year...kitchen towels and flasks. Yes, I know it is a crazy combo, but I went with it anyway. The towels were a hit, and I had a great time making them with friends...I made about 25 for family and pals as stocking stuffers. Now onto the flasks - three of my girlfriends got me a fabulous blue paisley funky crazy flask for my 27th birthday. I love it (but have never used it oddly enough). We have a trip to Wisconsin planned in late Feb. for Marisa's bachelorette/family visit weekend, and I thought we all needed some souvenirs. I bought stainless steel flasks (wal-mart), green apple spray paint (lowe’s), and then purchased letters from Debbie (uppercase living – see Hazelwood Headlines to the right if interested) and topped it off with some bead dazzled work…running joke in our crew. J helped me prep the flasks before painting and all was well and good until I knocked them over after they dried…nice, but typical if you know me. It goes hand in hand with cooking fish too long, bad handwriting and singing, and wrapping gifts, and tripping – NOT GOOD! Anywho, J handed me some sandpaper and off I went “antiquing” the little boogers all over. He then added the letters, and I finished them with the gorgeous jewels. Now don’t drool on your computers gals, because your next birthday or celebration you just might get one of these! Ha/Ha – don’t be scared!

I know they didn’t turn out the way I wanted, but the gals still loved them and they will serve their purpose as we freeze our tushies off ice fishing, sledding, and dancing on bar tops…..Marisa, you did say we could dance anywhere! (Mom, don’t worry).

Sweet Surprise!

Finals week is the longest week ever, especially if you are an elective teacher and don’t have to give one. We have each class longer than usual, but I did have some fun things planned. I guess I’ve mentioned this once or twice or a million times to J over the past 5 years, because on Thursday (during my worst behaved class) I received these!

It was a sweet surprise and the card was even better. The funny thing was the 8th graders clapped – I told the boys that girls love flowers no matter what. I can’t give J a hard time now for not bringing me a diet coke in the middle of the day….he’s covered – well, for a while now!!! Ha/ha!

Thanks sugar (he'll hate that I put that on here)

So far this week:

1. Received a chia head as a present from a student….almost brought me to tears when it reminded me of my nickname in elementary school….you know who you are!
2. Another student told me that I am the most loving teacher they have ever had, and then a student from the same class told me with a smile that they hoped I would be in a better mood tomorrow.
3. Wrapped half of my presents.
4. Refrained from snooping to see what Hubby J got me…I swear I act 6 around this time of year.
5. Burned my tongue on some hot chocolate.
6. Spray painted some things for Christmas gifts and then knocked them over which caused the paint to chip – now they are “antiqued”
7. Came to school with lime green paint on my fingers – I promised I showered.
8. Hubby J said I crack his ass up….best compliment all week.
9. Skipped boot camp….TWICE.
10. Slid and almost fell in the school parking lot – why did I think that cowboy boots had traction???
11. I was told that I had Farah Facet hair.
12. Obligated myself to plan and arrange music for the big New Year’s party….remind me to research Samantha Ronsen. Do you think J will look good with LL hair?
13. Had one too many margaritas at Chris’ birthday dinner…had a bit of a headache this morning, hence the skipping of boot camp the second time.
14. Failed to put away laundry, but there are NO dishes in my sink and my bed is made! No applaud needed!
15. Mailed Christmas cards.
16. Made my bowl picks…hoping I hit the jackpot this year baby!!! I want a new IPOD!

Here’s to your good/interesting week!!!

Christmas Round 1....

This busy weekend began with our school staff Christmas party on Friday night which led to dancing with a few friends afterwards. It was a blast and I enjoyed visiting with everyone! I then got up at 6:30AM to participate in the Toys for Tots 5k with my cousin, Spencer and my uncle. We had a good time, but it was extremely windy. You know you are in a 5k in West Plano when you see a woman with fur vest over her race shirt and diamond earrings…..

Christine (all the kids get us confused) Me, Mer & Ginny

us with Joan

Emily, my co teacher...we also confuse the students...and teachers for that matter

Choir teacher Chris and Meredith

Marisa came to dance - good times

We went to Rob and Kara’s Christmas party Saturday night. It was good hanging out with everyone, including my friend Kenny that we used to run around with during our first year of teaching. We ate some good food, had some “fun” drinks and danced to 80’s jams in the living room. I know I am getting old when my legs are sore from dancing….dancing twice in one weekend wore me out, but I figured I burned some calories.

Like many people, we celebrate Christmas many times throughout the month. We are very fortunate to have family near, and want to spend time with us (more importantly). Today I went to the Arrington Christmas at my Aunt’s house for some Mexican food and white elephant gift exchange. I got to hang out with my favorite (just saying b/c he might read this) cousin Adam, and play with Josh and Lisa’s boys. Of course, cutie Laura kept up with the boys and enjoyed the hot wheel track just as much as Caleb. We missed hubby J today – he had to work this weekend, but I was able to bring home some goodies for him to munch on later.

This truly was the longest week ever at school, and I am afraid of what next week will feel like. I know at 12:40 on Friday, I will do a dance of joy (that is if my legs feel normal) and breathe a huge sigh of relief. We are then headed to Austin for Christmas round #2 with the Thompsons and some fun time away from Murphy. I have most of my shopping finished, except for making a few gifts for friends. I always have these grand ideas, and then fall short of following through – I hope J can help me be successful. He’s the real talent! I hope everyone is having a wonderful December with lots of time with family and friends.

Merry Christmas,
K & J…and Jake too….wish I could post our Christmas card on here…so stinking funny!

I'm just as bad as...

my middle school lovies....I'm counting down til break...I know you are too. I'm in sewing heck (refraining from potty mouth syndrome) and am ready for a new semester with new kiddos. You know you teach middle school FCS when you have two tall 8th grade boys racing to see who can sew faster, and one singing Christmas songs while he seam rips....is this really what I went to college for??? Don't answer, I graduated with enough hours to have a masters degree....Kyley, I know you feel my pain....with that said, I will miss my kiddos - they are some of my favs from the past 5-6 years. What's in store for me in Jan?!

Hope all my teaching peeps are surviving....break is around the corner. Hope Santa spoils you....I am asking for Cotton Bowl tix....whose coming for the game???

Sewing queen (fraud)...and yes, I know I have 100 grammatical errors...don't even.

Truth Be Told…

For Stacee

Things I normally don’t mention in a blog:
I don’t make up the bed…if it gets made it is b/c of J.
I live 5 minutes to school, but still rush to get there on time.
I wonder how I will have energy to have kids if I don’t even take my pups on a walk daily.
I start looking at the clock around noon….waiting for 3:30 to hit.
My house is not one of those you can just pop into and see it spotless, heck even somewhat clean. How do we go through so many dishes and laundry?!

I screen my phone calls.
I am horrible about returning calls.
I have a box of generic birthday cards, b/c I’m horrible at remembering birthdays...until the last second. Please don’t be offended – it is the thought that counts.
I went Christmas shopping on Friday and bought myself something….found several more things I wanted….
I have a potty mouth….the worst part is that it rubs off on my friends.
I love to put on my pj’s right when I get home from school and curl up on the couch...especially if J is home. Running is for the mornings.
I can’t carry a tune, yet I dream of being in a band.
I have HORRIBLE handwriting and cannot draw worth a flip.
I speed and am a HORRIBLE parker.
I LOVE South Park…think it is because I wasn’t allowed to watch the Simpons growing up.
I still complain if I feel Abby gets more…
I worry about how I will have time to workout when I have a baby…shessh, I’m selfish.
I’m afraid what will happen when I can’t workout…
I just spent an hour watching “Britney On the Record” when I should have been decorating for Christmas.
I bite my nails and smack my gum.
Did I mention I have a potty mouth?
I’m not to big on newborns….I think I might break ‘em.
I am always 5 minutes late.
I am horrible at keeping secrets….HORRIBLE.
Did I mention there are dishes in my sink as we speak and my bed is unmade?
I think “morning people” are insane.
I interrupt.
I make fun of people and probably say what others are thinking.
I get jealous.
I envy my mom and sister’s straight hair, blue eyes, and long and skinny legs.
My husband is 100 times nicer than I could ever be.

Things I am proud of:
I went to church this week.
I apologized first.
I try extremely hard at being a great wife, family member and friend.
I love to organize/plan things….which might drive J crazy.
I might take my time, but I accomplish goals.
I cook at least 3 times a week.

That felt good -
Love to ya,
K
