:: weekend at sue sue's ::

We headed to KC after Iz's nap Friday for a baby shower on Saturday, dentist appt. on Monday and time with Sue Sue + friends.  I got up early to get milk at the grocery store and look how fun this sign is at the HyVee by my mom's {no, I didn't park in it ;)}...
We went for a nice walk after breakfast and let Isabelle walk the last little bit.. she has really been wanting to walk these days and not sit in her stroller very long :(.
I just loved her shadow with the pig tails.
We checked out the Overland Park Farmer's Market and this little fountain was there, I couldn't not let Isabelle play in it, I mean she just loves water, especially when it's shooting up from the ground!  We just took her dress off and let her go to town in her normal diaper.. it weighed about 10 lbs when I took it off!
It was so fun to watch her... so happy!!
I think this little girl thought Iz was a bit crazy ;).
love.
At Meghan's shower we colored pages, all things that started with the letter you chose... Isabelle insisted that she help me {she just loves to color}, look how cute our page is ;).
I made Meghan one of the baby hats I have posted in the past, some burp cloths from cloth dipes and my version of the 'Diapies and Wipies' bag.  Here she is opening the hat :).
I will post some more pics of the burp cloths and 'dipes + wipes on the go' bag.
Iz, just enjoying the party.
My mom came to pick Iz up and she made quite the exit scene with saying bye to everyone, even Bear.. she had to lean down and give him a kiss/mmmwah.
And a hug...
Izzy girl's shoes looked kind of like the baby ones on the cake...
such a pretty cake!
Giving Ash a kiss goodbye.
Telling everyone 'BYE!', I mean, she was yelling it and waving at everyone, it was pretty funny!  I wish I would have recorded it.
Here we are coloring some pages of the alphabet that were left for 'River's ABC's' book.  I love to color too, probably one of my favorite past times... so glad Iz loves it too and always wants dad and I to color with her.
Look at these beautiful girls!
Ash, mama Meghan, Sara
friends...
It was so fun to sit around and hang out at the Lafferty's, like we were in high school again.  Man have things changed since then!
We went to church with Sue Sue Sunday morning and I just thought Iz was so cute coloring during the service.
I got to go to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and Costco while Iz napped and that made me happy! I just loved being home at my mom's and hanging with friends.

I had a dentist appt. Monday morning so we headed home after that.. I looked back and saw Iz just reading her magazine, looking so intent, I had to get a pic!
She caught me, so I got a smile...
Just playing with another iphone photo filter...
We had such a nice trip to KC... Izzy girl did awesome the whole time, especially on the way there when we stopped in Topeka + Lawrence before getting to Sue Sue's.  Thank you to my little for being my amazing side kick!  Love you!

:: 12 weeks + doc appt ::

Oh man, these belly pics, I feel like I always look so silly!  Anyway, here I am at 12 weeks (last Wednesday), definitely sticking out more!  I have been feeling much better, still pretty tired, but not so nauseous when I see food some foods.  According to babycenter.com, our little babe is just over 2 inches long {about the size of a lime} and the biggest development this week is reflexes... fingers begin to open and close, toes will curl, eye muscles will clench + mouth making sucking movements {I remember watching Iz do that with her mouth on the sonogram and it was the cutest thing}.
Iz and I drove to Lawrence on Friday for my doc appt {stopped in Topeka on the way to have lunch with some work friends :)} and Jacob wasn't able to make it, so I wanted to record the heart beat for him and to show Isabelle... it's pretty amazing!  The babe's heart beat was in the 170's.. it's always really high this early, doesn't mean it's a girl ;).
I just wanted to share a few things I was experiencing around weeks 7, 8, 9, when we hadn't told anyone yet {just because some are so not me and kind of funny}: made gnocchi for lunch while it was 108 outside, ate rainbow sherbet like it was my job, made smore's way more than normal, pb + js'. always, animal crackers {also dipped in pb}, grahams, oatmeal for dinner... what?!, mac + cheese pizza.. that's probably the craziest!  Yes, they do sell it at the grocery store in the frozen section and it wasn't terrible {Jacob and I had that at a pizza place in Chicago with friends so we had to try it!}.  Oh and of course, just tired!  I would lay down {still do} during Iz's naps to rest and try to nap, I'm just not good at napping. darn it.
I'm happy to report that most of these things have changed :)!

The girl and her boots!

We met Isabelle's cousins at the pool after her nap and these pics make me look like a bad mom, but I swear I put so much screen on her!  She wasn't burnt either, this was just right after we got inside and I took off her suit... it faded, promise :).  She was just so funny that she had to put her rain boots on right when we got home from the pool.
 Having her 'sack'...
Just reading her book in bed.. we laughed when we saw her, love it.

:: no bake energy bites ::

Of course I found this on Pinterest and they are awesome!
I have been waking up starving and wanting a little bite of something before I run/workout and these are perfect.. I eat half before I run and then the other half when I get home, nice little protein boost before + after.  Here is her recipe.. I have made them twice now because we love them so much and didn't have any more coconut the second time so I put an extra 1/3 C of oats and 1/3 C of sliced almonds to cover the 2/3 C dry ingredient of the coconut flakes.  I also just put 1/4 C chocolate chips and added 1/4 C of dried cranberries.. there are so many things you can do with these!  She has some other great tips on her recipe.  Oh and I split the ground flaxmeal and wheat germ and put 1/4 C of each in.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup (dry) oatmeal (I used old-fashioned oats)
  • 2/3 cup toasted coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup ground flaxseed or wheat germ
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Method:
Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed.  Let chill in the refrigerator for half an hour.  Once chilled, roll into balls of whatever size you would like.  (Mine were about 1″ in diameter.)  Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.
Makes about 20-25 balls

Surprise!!

It has been so hard to keep this quiet, especially since my belly was sticking out a bit at 9 weeks!

I had actually taken like 3 tests the weeks prior and they were negative, but the weekend I went to my friend's baby shower in KC, we went to dinner and I just felt a little nauseous and off... I got up Monday morning to do my yoga and just felt a little yucky and just not right, so I decided to take another test, thinking it would just be negative, but it wasn't!  I was so excited!  Iz was with me and I was like, "Iz, you are going to be a big sister!!" and she got so excited {not that she knew, but I think just because I was so happy}, it was the cutest thing and so fun that I got to share it with her!  I was bummed Jacob wasn't home, but we sent him the below picture and called him right after.
Izzy girl and I celebrating...
We wanted to tell our family before I went to Chicago and we had the perfect opportunity the Saturday my mom came to visit- Gigi and Papa had all the family over for dinner.  I made Isabelle this shirt super last minute that day {thank you Hobby Lobby} because I just really wanted to tell them that way, good thing it worked out!  We walked over with Iz in a different outfit and then I changed her in the bathroom, she walked out and showed off her shirt :)!
Cousins
Jacob and I had snuck away to Lawrence the day before the 4th to go to the doctor {before we told the fam} and I was further along than we thought, this was me at 9 weeks {4th of July}.  I was feeling so big and bloated, it's crazy how much quicker your belly sticks out with the second!
I just wanted to share this other pic we took {there were several that my mom took Sunday morning after breakfast at the club} because Iz was smiling, but looking down.. darn it!
As of now, we are thinking we will find out if it's a boy or a girl, I told Jacob it would be fun not to find out, but he just can't do it... we'll see ;)!  I will keep you posted on the progress!

:: wichita ::

We headed to Wichita Thursday night because Jacob was playing in a golf tournament for Runge with the Boys and Girls Club on Friday.  Izzy girl and I had a fun day hanging out around town while Runge worked the tournament and the boys played.  We walked to the park first and Iz was very brave and went down the twisty slide by herself.. that was her first time on a twisty slide, so I was proud of her- it's the little things!
We walked to the little book store/coffee shop to look at some books and get a snack... we ended up with 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' {bagel with peanut butter, bananas + honey}, need to make that at home!  We also bought a book by Charley Harper called, 'Colors'.. it's filled with his amazing prints + colors- highly recommend!  There is another one called, '123's' that is on my list!  We always had Charley Harper pictures hanging {my mom still does} in our house growing up so I have a special spot for his work and I love his interpretation of nature.
We got up Saturday morning, had some yummy breakfast and headed home.  The littles were so cute eating at the counter together, like big kids.
I turned around and this is what Iz was doing.. couldn't help but smile and take a picture.
Thank you Wasinger's for having us and being wonderful hosts!!
