Feeling ...WICKED!!

Yesterday was a very happy day. Michelle, Brianne, and I went to San Francisco to see the musical WICKED!!!
We have talked about doing this for a while and the girls made it possible for us to go. The tickets were an unexpected Christmas surprise and a joy to receive - and use!! Everything about it was fabulous.... the theater, the costumes, the staging, the acting...but most of all the singing!! My favorite scene/number was Defying Gravity... it gave me chills as I sat there in the theater.

We popped the CD into the player in the car and sang along and talked all the way there and all the way back. It was a very happy day... and it was FABULOUS!

Star Light - Star Bright

It's funny how such simple things make me so happy. I love walking in to my home these days - all decorated for the holidays. The first thing I see is this nativity placed right in my entryway. And it was so-so simple to create - with fabulous thrifty finds.

I found this wicker (?) star at the Salvation Army. It has lights entwined in it ... and fabulous ... it works. I tied it to the back of my little black chair (that I salvaged from the trash can) with a recycled gold ribbon. Placed a gold charger plate, that I found at Goodwill, on the seat and then arranged my dollar store glass nativity on the plate.

It is so sweet to me everytime I enter my home or pass by the doorway. And it only cost me a couple of dollars ... FABULOUS !!!

Cute Turkey Treat

Are these just not the cutest things ... Turkey treats made from Moon Pies. Yes those marshmallow-chocolate cookie things. Brianne and my little sweeties Kaitlin, Jayden, Logan and Gavin came over and we made these for Thanksgiving day. Simple easy project - moon pies, candy corn, nutter butter cookies, m&m's, and a red jelly belly - "glued" together with white frosting and attached to a sucker stick. Oh what fabulous fun we had !!
Hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving.

Two - Count Em - Two !!

Another very busy week for me but I actually finished two - count em - two projects this weekend .... and I am just so pleased with myself :-) YEAH!!!

First:
My "Spooky" woodblock letters ... Don't they look fabulous on my mantel, and (drum roll please.........) My "Shanty Apotocary Jars" (from the Shanty 2 Chic blog.)
I am so excited about these jars. I saw them on the Shanty blog and knew I had to make them. I grabbed the supply list and headed out to Michael's crafts - only to find their supply of wooden candle sticks, finials, and jars - well ... less than fabulous. Never the less, after several trips to Michaels, Joann's, Walmart and Marshalls, along with a blister on my thumb from the hot glue gun they are finished. Don't they look just fabulous!!
I love moments like this!! I swung in to the Salvation Army and look at this fabulous find - and it only cost me $.89 cents. (Half price on Bric a Brac day) I actually got two of them, this fabulous blue one and a white one. I found this little spot right by my nightstand. So cute !!

Have a Happy Halloween Week!

More Halloween Fun

As all of you know - I love to craft and create things, and decorate for any and all holidays. Wanted to share more of the fun and cute Halloween decorations filling up my home sweet home.I found this broom at the Salvation Army for $.45 cents. All I did was wrap black curly ribbon along the handle and add one of my "signature" (torn strips of fabric and raffia) bows. The paperbag pumpkin is a school project that Matthew made a few years ago.

This is my version of the "spooky black tree" that Michelle and Brianne posted on their blog - "The Tortoise and The Hare." Mine is more of a twig than a tree but I loved the bend of the branch. It fits perfectly on the table in the entry. Anyone recognize the picture on the table ?!? This project was so quick and easy ... and it looks so spooky and "just so FABULOUS!"

Rascal Flatts Concert

YEAH !!! I saw Rascal Flatts in concert this past Thursday - and they were fabulous!! They put on a great show. They are so talented - and they are kinda cute too!! Three days later I am still singing their songs. Through the entire show are these HUGE screens behind the band. The graphics change along with each song. Way-Way fun. What's your favorite RF song ?? Mine is Broken Road ...

... It's Just So Fabulous!

Take a look...Did you notice that I have changed the name of my blog. The Queen of Everything ... no, not at all... feeling more like The Queen of Nothing. So I decided to change the title of my blog to ....It's Just So Fabulous. Why? It just felt more like me these days. No, I am not fabulous.... it's just that fabulous people, and moments, and things seem to come and go in my life and I want a place where I can share that joy with others.

Speaking of Fabulous... I spent the day decorating for Halloween and working on some craft projects that have been piling up on my kitchen table. Best part about it ... I had a crafting buddy by my side the whole day. Matthew loves to do crafts and he is becoming an awesome thrift store shopper... he sure can spot a great "treasure" for his mom.
Here is a peek at my Halloween decor ... I like to call it "Wickedly Cute." This is my entry. The cute ladder was salvaged from dumptser, I picked up the fabulous twig basket at Goodwill for $1.00. The container for my yard stakes was another $1.00 Goodwill find. It was painted white with tulips on it (YIKES!) Look what a bit of paint and fabic did for it. It turned out really cute.

This tablescape is made to look like a lady's dresser in an old haunted house. I think it looks fabulous! Thank You to Michelle and Brianne for the sillioutte and old-time jar label - found them on your blog site "The Tortoise and The Hare." I sprayed the roses black, added gloves and jewelry, spiders, mice, old tarnished silver pieces, old perfume bottles... Wickedly Cute!!

I know this post is getting long but I wanted to share this one craft project that I think turned out Fabulous! I found this giant, ugly green spoon when I was in Sacramento visiting with Michelle, Josh, Ellie and Olivia. But look at how Fabulous it looks with a coat of spray paint. It's hanging in my bathroom, and I love how it turned out!!!

Have a fabulously great week !!

Bling Box .. Before and After

I have been so-soo busy now that I am back at work that I haven't posted for weeks. Even though I was spending hours at the high school each day I still made time to do a little bit of "treasure hunting" at my local thrift stores on the weekends. Here is my new fave find... a fabulous jewelry box. I have been looking for a way to organize my "bling" cause the drawer was beginning to overflow. (If you see me very often, you know just how much jewelry I wear on a daily basis.) While in the Goodwill recently, this jewelry box caught my eye. Isn't it beautiful - I absoluetly love the color! So trendy right now. It was in perfect condition - just needed a little clean up - and the best part - it only cost me $3.00. I am so happy - no more untangling each morning !!!

Fun Fountains ... and more

This past week Eric, Matthew and I spent several days in Elk Grove, CA visiting Michelle, Josh, Ellie and Olivia - and oh what FUN we had. We spent lots of time thrifty - and let me tell you - Michelle has found some awesome thrift stores - I am sosoo jealous! Check back soon to see all the great treasures I found. We also had fun at Costco eating all the samples, (oh yea!) swimming, making homemade oreos, learning how to do oragami, and eating sushi.

Ellie took us to the fountains at the local community park - check out just one of the cute water fountains for the kids to run through. It is a palm tree... the coconuts at the top spin around and drop water on the kids. Matthew and Ellie had a great time cooling off. We can't wait to go back for another visit :-)

Before, During, After...

BEFORE ... If you have been to my home lately you had to walk past this bookcase to get though the front door. Matthew and I drove into the complex several weeks ago and at the dumpster was this treasure. When we went to inspect we realized that the back was almost completely pulled off - other than that it was in perfect shape - even the hardware was still in place !!
DURING ... back panel stapled in place, all sanded down and primed for painting. This is the first project that I used primer on. Didn't know what kind of wood(s) the bookcase was made of ?!?!?
AFTER ... a beautiful black bookcase. This picture, with the plain white walls of my home, just doesn't show how great this project turned out. Only a few special items on the shelves now - but give me some time and they will be overflowing.

I couldn't end this post without including this picture. This stack of "projects"(each in various states of completion) is currently sitting in my living room - and I return to work on Monday, July 27th ... I better get busy!!

Vacation In Yosemite

Eric, Matthew, and I recently returned from what has become our annual "Family Camp" week in Yosemite. I love Yosemite ... it is so beautiful there.

The water flow was very, very low throughout the park, but if you look closely you can see Yosemite Falls behind the boys.
We stayed in Housekeeping Camp again this year (thanks Karen for inviting us) ... it is sosoooo fun. We bring lots of gear from home - but have the luxury of showers, restrooms and a store inside the camp ground. (No midnight hikes to the "little house on the hill.") We have to lock everything edible inside bear boxes. Didn't see any bears this year... just squirrels.
Once again this year we had a awesome view of Half Dome just by stepping out of our camp site.

No hiking for us - instead we rode bikes everywhere. (Yes - I rode all over the park on this lovely Lady Schwinn bike - brought back memories of the Schwinn I used to ride when we lived in Taylorsville :-)
Matthew had his back tire blow-out the first day - Eric rode ahead while Matthew and I walked the bikes back to camp. As we were walking the bikes along the trail I noticed a family of deer in the meadow. Great Photo Op ...don't you think?!

As we were leaving on Saturday this HUGE group (at least 50 or more) of Harley Bikers came riding past us. I had to laugh at Eric - leaning out of the car window to take a picture. :-) We had a great time visting with friends, eating smores around the fire every night, and enjoying each others company in the beauty that is Yosemite. I love spending time with my boys in Yosemite - and look forward to going again next year !!

Ohh ... what a great purse !!

Don't you love this purse? It's my new Brenda Johnson "Closer" Tote Bag. I love the show "The Closer" (TNT Monday's @ 9:00 pm) and have watched every episode since it first aired.

If you watch the show you will see Brenda carrying this bag everywhere she goes ... and now I have Brenda's famous and fabulous black purse for myself!!!

I know it is difficult to tell us apart in the two photos above - so don't be mistaken ... I am the one wearing brown - Brenda is wearing pink ...But don't we both look FABULOUS ?!?!

It Just Makes Me Smile ...

Yesterday while I was out and about I stopped at the Goodwill Store. I love going to Thrift Stores and have found lots of "treasures" there over the years. Here is my haul from yesterday. Two picture frames w/mats (have a fun decorating project in mind for these) a platter (another project) and a coffee/tea pot (no project in mind - just liked the way it looked.) Total Cost: $7.00.

... look how cute the coffee/tea pot looks on the black table in my entry way. Silly I know... but opening the door and being greated by my GW find and the fresh flowers... it makes me smile :-)

After taking the picture of the flowers I couldn't resist snapping a picture of the other items on the table top ... Hannah's Birth announcement and Kendall's Graduation announcement. Now...that's what I call Cute !!!

Congratulations Rusty, Anne and Bridger on the new arrival to your family - and - Kudos to Kendall for a job well done!!

The Little Black Shelf

Look at this great little unfinished wood shelf Michelle gave me. It has been waiting patiently for me to get my creative energy flowing again ...

With just two coats of my new fav paint color "Black Magic" .... and a pass over with my sander ...TAH DAH !! Isn't it just toooo cute ??!!

I hung it up in my bathroom ... added two of my favorite Mary Engelbreit pieces and a picture of me and my little luv bugs. The sassy little black purse is really a case for my glasses.

I removed all the "cluttery" items from the bathroom counter, and added this lamp. I love being in this room ... and the warm glow from the lamp does wonders for diminishing the look of my wrinkles !!

New Found Passion - REPURPOSING -

I have found a new outlet for my creative energy - Repurposing. Taking items I already have and giving them a new purpose in my home/life. Wanting to make some changes in my home - without spending to much money, I decided to repurpose several second-hand items I had acquired over the past couple of years. So...I bought myself a sander and went to work. I have completed a table and shelf and I am diligently working on a chair, bench, and bedside table. I also have my eyes on an old dresser that is in my bedroom...

I am a Blogger Novice so I forgot to take a BEFORE Picture... this is the table after sanding.

Painting....

I changed out the old wood knobs for Cute new Nickel Knobs from Lowe's Hardware

(Lowe's has become my new Friday night hangout! )

From the Dumpster ... Repurposed to my Entryway .... and I just LOVE IT!!
