NEW JOB!

I got a job!
I will be working as a Special Ed Aide at
Naples Elementary!
I had an interview yesterday and they offered the job to me today. I will start next week.

Changing Cloud

On my birthday we watched the sunset on the beach.
The sun was setting behind us over the bay but this cloud over the
ocean was catching the light and color.

The bay side

When we first got to the beach we watched lightning hit the ocean from the dark, center part of this cloud.

Then the sun started to go down behind us and the cloud started changing colors and shape

It started to get a mushroom top

We watched it until the color faded all the way

I love watching clouds. For some reason they fascinate me.

It's cool to look back at the first pic of this cloud and see how much it changed in a fairly short amount of time.

Sailing

While in New Jersey we went sailing with Mike's family,
in memory of Grandad, who loved to sail.
We enjoyed a few hours of sunshine before a storm moved in.
This is the sailboat we were on
Getting the sail up

Laurie was a little worried about my sailing capabilities...

So all I really did was stand there for pic, but it was fun :)

Appalachian Trail

August 11 was my birthday and Rob & Laurie's wedding anniversary. They took the day off work and we took a little road trip up to the Appalachian trail and then to Pennsylvania. The Appalachian trail actually goes from Maine to Georgia. We just hiked a part of it up to Sunfish Pond. After a little while on the trail we crossed a stream and just decided to hike straight up the hill next to the stream. (I'm not sure whose idea that was...Mike :) ) We figured it was coming out of the pond we were trying to get to. That was quite the adventure. (Hopefully your parents will hike with us again sometime!)

Mike made this handy dandy grocery bag backpack with a bit of duck tape so we could carry some snacks up the trail easier. It worked great and didn't fall apart!
Beautiful waterfall
It is soooo green back East! I felt like I was hiking through a jungle.

This spider web was amazing!
Green
We made it!
Sunfish Pond
It wasn't too long after we reached Sunfish pond that we were attacked by buggy little gnats and we heard thunder rumbling in the distance. As we started to hike back down it started to sprinkle, we were covered by trees for quite a while. Then it started to pour. When it rains back East, it really rains! Luckily we had our rain jackets. The storm hit hard and the lightning and thunder were close. We were pretty wet by the time we made it back to the car! But we survived!

Sunrise on the ocean

Mike and I went to New Jersey for a week to attend a Memorial service for his Grandad who passed away and to visit family. We took tons of pics of course, so here are some to start with. Two of the days we got up at 5 AM (which is 3 AM Utah time) to see the sunrise on the beach. We went with Mike's parents and had Dunkin' Donuts and juice, yum!

It was a bit chilly until the sun was up

It was beautiful! Hard to choose what pics to blog!More pics of our trip coming soon!
