Another cute movie

I just have another movie today, which is pretty dang cute!  She is getting the hang of bouncing in her bouncer thing (whatever they are called)!  She has such a funny "inhale of breath" sound when she is excited! She loves watching this movie!

Big yawn!

Big yawn!  I have a cute video of her playing with this bunny but it won't upload tonight...I'll try again tomorrow!

I made 8 batches of granola yesterday!  YummY!

Care Package for Daddy since he forgot his laptop & ham radio cords.  Figured I should make his package exciting with some cookies and granola!  Don't worry I did this a couple days ago and he has already received it...so I am not ruining the surprise!  Plus he doesn't have internet right now...

Family Search Indexing!

If you are looking for a way to do some
 genealogy work
 and
serve others
on
your own time
 and
at your own house
(internet required)
check out
Family Search Indexing at http://www.familysearch.org/ !
then go to the 3rd tab over to "Index Records"
You can read about it there and then click on
VOLUNTEER!
You will need to register and set up an account.  Then you can use this account for other family history options available on this website (I need to look into this part more).
You do not have to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to volunteer or have access to the records.
Anyone can be involved!
On the homepage of familysearch.org you can search for your ancestors through the records that have been indexed.

I've wanted to help out somehow with genealogy work, and this isn't directly involving family history work for my own family, but it's still a great way to get involved.  I've been doing it for a couple of years and I really enjoy it!  It used to be called Extractions.

Basically you are given a record, such as a census (or sometimes birth certificates and other documents), with 50 names (sometimes less) and other information on it.  All you have to do is type the information they are asking for into their spreadsheet.  You are given one week to complete a batch.  Often it can be done in 30 minutes to an hour.  If you can't finish all at once, that is fine, just save it and work on it later.  If you can't complete the batch by the deadline, that is fine as well!  They will just magically take it back and it will be given to someone to complete.  Sometimes the handwriting can be difficult to read, but just do your best!  They have different options for getting help.  The cool thing about this is that every record is indexed by two volunteers and then reviewed by an arbitrator!  Meaning if you accidentaly make a mistake on a name or can't figure it out, there are two other people also working on it!

This came from part of an article in the newsletter that I receive:
Indexing Goal for September

We are slightly behind in reaching our goal of 200 million records completed in 2010. To give ourselves a boost and help us get closer to our goal for the year, we want to challenge everyone to make the month of September our most productive month ever. So far March 2010 has been our best month, with 21 million records completed in just one month.

The question is, “Can we complete 22 million records in one month?” Yes! We believe we can, but we need help from everyone. Whether you can index or arbitrate 50 more records per week or month, or 5,000 more, every contribution large or small is vital. One person cannot do this work alone.

The best resource we have to help us reach our goal is each other. We need to communicate. If you have questions about a batch or you get stumped by some handwriting, don’t fret and worry that you can’t do it alone. We all want to help.

I wasn't planning on going into this much detail, but I did, so there you have it!
Check it out and contact me if you have any more questions and I'll see if I can answer them!

and now for a
 daily dose of Madison
and some friends:
These are the Nelsons.  We met them at the Vernal Temple back before Madi was born.  They are Temple Workers and we would always see them on the same session.  They invited us to come to dinner (every Sunday that we can make it!) and we've finally been a couple times!  We like visiting with them and of course they love Madi!  They are the most giving people and they are so kind.

Wyoming?!?!

Yep, that's right...
the rumors are true...
after Mike's 4+ months of unemployment, it's time to go back to work!
He got a job in Douglas, WY
I'm not terribly excited about it, so I am calling it our paid vacation.  We will only be there for a few months and then on to the next job we go...not sure where that is yet.  It's a line construction job, so we move to where the job is located.  We have heard rumors of Oregon, but we're really not sure.  This job is "temporary" because we really don't like this lifestyle of moving around with the job.  We are going to continue looking as hard as we can for an apprentice lineman position in a city (preferably UT).  So if anyone hears of anything let us know!  We've basically called all the cities in UT with their own power company and no luck so far...
Mike headed up yesterday and Madi and I are packing (okay she's playing and I am packing)

Before Mike went up there he called the Bishop in the area and we were able to get in touch with a member who had a studio apartment for rent.  It's tiny, cheap, furnished and will do for 2 1/2 months.  Here are a few pics Mike sent from his phone.

I can't get the pics where I want them, so this will have to do!

Got quite a bit done until I ran out of boxes!

Hi Daddy, I miss you and love you!

Hmmm, I wonder what this tastes like!

I just want to sit up!
