Such a Girl

Yesterday I was playing with Kylie down at her level and she has taken notice of my earrings. I let her play with one of mine for a few minutes and she'd put it right up to her ear. Now when she gets the chance she likes to touch my earrings and then wants me to put it in her ear! I think it's so funny that she has noticed things like this already. I've started this game where I tell her "they will have to poke holes into your ears and it will hurt!" while tickling her ears and she just giggles and giggles. It's a fun little game we've had today. I never expected her to be a girly girl but she's so far embracing the feminine things of life rather quickly! Dolls, chap stick, babies, earrings etc. Well everything except for hair bows (sigh... my favorite).

Don't worry, there will be no touching her ears until she's old enough to want them and be able to take care of them (maybe when she's eight, maybe in a few years, who knows). I think the "I want them" half of the equation might happen sooner than we were expecting. Yikes!

baby dolls and brownies

It's been such fun watching Kylie with her baby dolls lately. Yesterday she came over to me with baby doll and diaper in hand and had me put a diaper on her baby. Then she strolled it around in her stroller and shared her own binky (what generosity!!!). Sometimes she'll bring an outfit out of her dresser or even her swimsuit and have me put it on her doll. It's so stink'n cute!

And on another fun note.... brownies are a big hit in his house.

Pioneer Day Weekend

We had a really awesome day today. It was so nice to spend a day with Jared and Kylie! We started off the day by having breakfast at IHOP with our friends who invited us along. We don't go out to eat much often anymore because well, Kylie gets a little crazy. This morning was no exception and she was indeed the loudest child in that restaurant and the food was a flying! So yes we are "that" family.

After munchkin had her much needed nap we headed up to my old stomping grounds in Park City to hit the PC outlet mall. Jared's wardrobe has increasingly become ripped beyond repair, stained, ruined etc and has been needing some new clothes for the longest time. I can only think of one or two things he has gotten since Kylie was born so we went to town and came home with shopping bag after shopping bag. Lots of great sales this weekend, I must say. Jared rarely, and I mean RARELY goes shopping with me so it's better for us to do it in one fell swoop. He made out with nearly five days worth of new pants and shirts, a pair of shorts, two new power ties to boot and a much emptier wallet. I'm happy I can throw out two more pair of past-their-prime pants that have huge bleach stains, but couldn't yet because he didn't have anything else to wear. He's happy. Lots of happy!

We then headed over to Chubbies (aka El Chubasco) in PC for some much needed chicken enchiladas. I've become numb, almost forgotten what it tastes like as I haven't had this favorite meal of mine since the start of the new year. Forgive the drama, but I thought I was going to fall over and die from the heaven my tastebuds were enjoying. Oh Chubbies, how I've missed you. It tasted SO GOOD!!! By far the best meal I've had in six months. I love their salsa. It's all about the green chile verde salsa.

By time we got home it was dark and we had been invited over for some pioneer day fireworks at our friends house. Our poor little Kylie is terrified of even the littlest fireworks. When the first firework went off, a little three footer that lights up and squeals a little bit Kylie took off running the opposite way in full on tears. She spent the pretty much entire time in our arms as we watched. Even the sight of a sparkler makes her cling onto Jared even harder. It's going to be a few years before Stadium of Fire can be our venue of choice for future fireworks watching.

Our confesssion...

Well, I guess it's time to come clean on my blog. Most of our friends and family know about our news but I'm sure there are a few online friends out there that haven't heard so this one's for you! (I've been chicken about telling people so I've avoided this as long as possible.)

The past few months have been pretty crazy for us. I still feel like we are walking around in a dreamland some days and that we are living someone else's life. I can't believing it's our family I'm talking about. Long story short, Kylie is going to be a big sister come the end of January.

We are pregnant!!!

It came as quite a shock and was pretty unexpected. The timing couldn't have been more perfect. We were preparing to go down to a clinic in Vegas to do some infertility treatments when several weeks before our deposit was due I wasn't feeling well (I'm sure you know where this is going) took a test and those two little pink lines showed up. I.Was.Just.Speechless. We've essentially been trying for seven years so this has been something I wasn't sure I'd ever experience, let alone have it happen out of the blue. It definitely confirms to us that Kylie was meant to be with our family. We made an appointment with an OB I'd never met before and found out that we were eleven weeks at the time, almost out of the first trimester. WHAT THE HECK!!!! We were shocked by then, if we weren't before.

I'm now twenty five weeks along, the baby is growing well and so far everything has gone very smoothly. I'm due January 21st with a little boy! I started feeling him move a little bit a couple of weeks ago which has been fun. I've been feeling pretty great. I was sick from week 12-14 and have a bad ongoing case of the dry-heaves if anything so much as a toothbrush is in my mouth (going to the dentist was fun let me tell you) but other than that I've felt fine. We've explained a bit to Kylie but I'm not sure if she really understands. She just thinks it's great that mommy has a belly bump like her's so she likes to "belly bump" us. Even dad sometimes too :) She absolutely loves little babies so we know she'll be over the moon to have a little baby in our house. Just today when I was doing her hair she found a little bottle of infant medicine in the drawer that has a top that kind of looks like a bottle. She kept pointing the "bottle" at my belly like she wanted to feed the baby. So she must know more than we think she does! She's such a cutie. We feel so blessed to be able to give her a sibling. It's something we've looked forward to and wanted for the longest time.

We are so excited, I can't even tell you.

Eight Years!

Today is our anniversary of being married for eight years! Stinks though, because I've been feeling crummy all day long today (bleh!). A lot has happened since then. Spent a few years finishing college, bought a house, a few years working full time, became parents to the most amazing daughter EVER, and life continues.

Jared and I first met at Snow college, but not much more than acquaintances. But enough that three years later while at USU we were in a western swing class together and got chatting on the first day because we didn't know anyone else in the class. I ended up transferring out of that class a few weeks later for the same class that had a better time for me. Ugh! If I had only known. Our first date was on January 27th, 2001 (which I accidentally stood him up for, but I still hold my ground that it wasn't my fault), we were engaged during finals week in May and were married on July 10th. Our engagement was kind of a crummy time because I was working in Salt Lake and he took an internship in Boise, Idaho so we only got to see each other a handful of times that summer until we were married.

I'm very lucky that we have a great relationship and we complement each other so well. Becoming parents has blossomed our relationship in so many ways that I can't even count. I knew all along that he would be a great dad, but I didn't know he would be truly awesome! He absolutely adores Kylie, plays with her, makes her laugh, changes her diaper, and is such a hands on dad. She quite literally has her finger wrapped around his. I'm looking forward to many more years with my sweet hubby!

Water Baby

I've started taking Kylie every Tuesday to a small waterpark in town. A bunch of ladies from the neighborhood have been going so although I don't get much time to talk to anyone, it's fun to see them around. It's geared right for Kylie's age and has a very affordable summer membership so we've had a lot of fun so far. They have a kiddie pool with about two feet of water in it and two small slides. I've been so excited that Kylie will go down by herself! I catch her at the bottom, but it's fun to see her muster up enough courage to come barreling down that slide a half dozen times. They also have four larger slides, nothing to write home about, but big enough that Kylie can sit on my lap and go down with me. She just squeels with excitement the whole way down. We've had a lot of fun going. We are wiped out once we get back. Today we went from 11am-1:30pm and Kylie fell asleap on the way home and didn't wake up until 5pm. I was glad to get a small nap in too because I was exhausted!

The sun sure does it's job of draining our energy. Kylie is getting so active these days I don't know what I'm going to do with her this winter. She totally thrives on being outside and it seems like every day I have to get her outside or she's just crazy in the evenings.
