Hmmm... I just wanted to write down some things the munchkins are up to for my memory.
Kylie is becoming so much more self sufficient. She can button her buttons all by herself now. She also has a knack for matching her clothing. We have a few creative outfits she comes up with, but for the most part she can already match things together and doesn't mix browns with blacks, that sort of thing... I'm pretty impressed by her ability to come up with the outfits she does! She also looooooves to cook. I'm believing she's inherited her birth grandma's talent of cooking because I'm getting better than I used to be, but she really seems to enjoy it.
She's been riding her "big girl" bike tons and will race down the block in the blink of an eye. We've had to take her bike away from her on more than one occasion because she'll go too far without letting us know where she is. This week she managed to mooch an otter pop from a neighbor down the street two days in a row while she was out riding her bike, sigh. I've found myself this summer trying to decide where to draw the line at having more independence vs being a worry wort! We've been going swimming at Classic, the water park and they sell $1 snow cones for an hour out on the lawn by the slides. I gave her a dollar for a snow cone, got her situation in line and she was able to get a snow cone all by herself while we were watching from the nearby picnic tables. You should have seen how she talked over and over again about how she was able to pay for her snow cone "all by herself"! She was so excited!
Let's see- what else. Kylie also can't manage to keep her hands off Kipton. She loves to micro manage that boy. We were at the store today, she couldn't keep her hands off him and he tripped and hit his head on the concrete floor. So now he's sporting a huge purple goose egg on his forehead!
A week or two ago I spent a couple of hours cleaning out and vacuuming our car. Sometime while I was inside for a few minutes Kylie took a rock and "drew some art" along the side of our car. Yup we were thrilled and even more thrilled when we had to pay a detailer to come buff out the scratches!

Kipton is growing so fast. He finally said "mamamama" this past week which is music to my ears! He's almost 18 months old now and this is pretty much the only word he is saying at the moment. He jabbers on quite a bit though and makes lots of sounds. When Kipton was born his right ear never passed the infant hearing screening. We took him three times as an infant and that ear never passed. I finally decided to get his hearing checked since his language skills aren't coming along too quickly and I just wanted to know if that could be one of the causes. Good news is that ear finally passed so we are good on that front!
He also loves to climb up on Jared's lap, then point to whatever he wants to do. Jared is just his launchpad to do his will :) He is still obsessed with all things technology and electronic. I found him the other day with a screwdriver and he was trying to "fix" the electrical outlet :(. We got an ice cream maker a couple of weeks ago and have been perfecting our homemade rasberry ice cream. Kipton likes to be in charge of the ice cream maker and hauls it around like he's in control. My little guy just makes me laugh. Kylie enjoys mixing the ice cream together and they are both right on it when it's time to add the ice and salt.
The ages and stages they are at are so fun right now! Super challenging at times though I admit. Little miss Kylie is so very strong willed and some days are just so hard with her. And there are days where I can hardly believe I made it to the end of the day and the house is in shambles, dinner didn't get made and I feel like I'm a mental wreck etc. But I wouldn't trade it for anything... honestly. I feel so lucky to be their mom. They complete me in a way I never knew could.
