"Ode to Joy"

I want to share a realization that I had because of a friend and her actions, words, and deeds. I am impressed to share this to help share the message I was reminded of.

My friend is a shining example of someone who always sees the good in the world. I am sure there are things she is struggling with and she has hard times, but she deals with them with such grace and optimism. I believe it is because of her faith and her decision to share happiness instead of sadness. I was reminded of this friend and her happy attitude one day when I was reading through people's blogs. I was reading her blog and could feel her happiness and testimony just through her blog. I was surprised how her uplifting attitude uplifted my spirits that day, just by reading her blog.

Her example has reminded me to share the happy things in my life and focus on the good in my life.

Thank you to my dear friend and all my friends who are all examples to me!

Long Time, No Post

I don't know if anyone checks our blog because it has been so long; about 7 months. Well we are back and will try and keep up to date on our blog.

What is going on in our lives:
- We are about 23 days away from having our third child. We are having a baby boy on March 26, if his lungs are mature. I am going to be induced, but if his lungs are not mature it might be the week after that.
- Jason is going to Chicago for his yearly health care conference this month. We actually have scheduled the inducement of our baby the day after he gets back from his conference. Pray that I don't go into labor while he is gone.
- We register Ryan for Kindergarten this month. I can't believe he is old enough to go to school! He also starts soccer in a week.
- Sarah is excited to have a baby coming. She is going to be a big helper and a little mommy. She is very ready to start preschool and do all the fun things Ryan is doing. She does not turn 3 until May and then we will start signing her up for some fun things.

Well that is a little update from the East Coasters. Hope all is well with everyone!

First Day of Preschool

We started a co-op preschool again this year for Ryan. This was him on his first day school. Sarah also wanted to get ready (I felt bad she wasn't going to school because she seemed so excited).

A Virginia Treasure

Doumar's was a place that we actually saw on the food network about 9 months ago because this was the place to create the first waffle cone. We went here for a Family Home Evening activity. It is an old place, but fun to go to a little famous place that Virginia has.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Jason and Ryan went on a dad and son outing to a baseball game. They went to see the Tides play which is our local minor league team. I think Ryan wants to be a professional baseball player after watching this game. He was so excited when he came home!

Chapel Hill

Last Saturday the family took a little trip down to Chapel Hill to visit friends and go to the temple. Our temple district is the DC temple, but it takes the same amount of time to travel to the Raleigh temple. It was really fun to go back and see friends and also see beautiful Chapel Hill. When Jason and I first moved to Chapel Hill we really felt claustrophobic because there were so many trees, but now two years later we have really come to love the trees. We have trees in Chesapeake, but Chapel Hill is just gorgeous. If you haven't been there you should go - best times are in the fall when the tree's leaves are changing colors or in the spring when everything is budding. It is probably so beautiful to us because we have such sweet memories there with friends. For all of our friends from Chapel Hill thank you and we love you!

Williamsburg

Our family took a day trip up to Williamsburg to see the town (but also to hear a sales pitch about a timeshare and then to get the gift after hearing the sales pitch - haha). The town was really cute and fun to look around. We didn't get tickets to go into the houses this time because we knew we would only be there a couple hours, but we are planning on it for next time.

Jason and Sarah infront of the Palace. I wish I could be a little more descriptive, but like I said we didn't take the tour.
The flute and drum players marching down the road.
This was the capitol building. I thought it was interesting how this capitol building has a west and east wing (kinda like the one we have now).
Jason and the kids infront of a shoemaker shop.
