fun new game!
I am a card player...I grew up playing cards with my family and extended family. We still play cards when we get together with Grama.
I {heart}card games.
I couldn't wait to play it with Max...little too old for Ives.
It's an awesome way to practice numbers and sequence...and taking turns. And, it has bugs on each card...Max got a kick out of the fact that the spider was number 8 and it has 8 legs.
...and this is him kicking my trash...seriously? next time, I'm not helping!

Quack
Max had his FIRST t-ball practice today. {last week it got rained out}
He got his hat:
they practiced running the bases:
They practiced throwing:
They practiced fielding:
and as expected, I was the freak that was cheering and yelling like crazy.
Sorry!.
I'm that mom.
They got to see their banner:
and they got their uniforms. So, to celebrate, we got permission to go down to HBHS' baseball field and run the bases like the big kids do. He LOVED it
get 'em ducks
quack, quack
super powers
Batman...He's got huge muscles, really cool toys, a car, and a cave. He's OK.
Spidey...He can scale walls, and shoot web out of his hands and swing from building to building...That's cool.
Superman...He can fly and has super-strength. Alright.
But if you give a boy a pair o' these:
That's what I'm talking about! Serious Super Powers
'Mom, these shoes make me run so fast. watch me, watch me, watch me.'

button soup
One of our favorite books to read is this old school one that Jeff and his brothers had when they were little. I think it's a lot like "Stone Soup" but I haven't read that book...this one's cute, and since it has the familiar characters in it, it's sort of a fun change of pace for us...
Following close instructions, we got the biggest pot out of the cupboard...
we filled it with water
we dropped in a big button
seasoned it with salt and pepper
added an old soup bone, carrots, potatoes, radishes, onions, cabbage, cream...and Ivy used her creativity skills and added chocolate chip cookies, etc. {whatever}
they stirred and stirred and stirred, and then we enjoyed our very own button soup, Disney style.

Top 10 Winner
There is a blog called the CSI project.
Create Something Inspiring.
Each week they have a new theme. You can link your projects to win as long as they coincide with their weekly theme. Sometimes I have stuff that will match up, sometimes I don't. But this week the theme was accessories.
So I linked up this project
(the recycled sweater necklaces that we started out iCandy handmade with.)
[ps...if you haven't checked out our blog for a while, what are you doing?! go look and see what Jen and I have been up to!}
Anyway, I've only linked up one other project in the past, and I won one of the regular judges picks...but this time, I was one of the top 10 picks! woo hoo!
Go here to see the rest of the results!
{So I guess that means next time I'll win the whole shebang!}

someone's been brain washed
I picked Max up from school today and according to his teacher, when they were washing their hands after painting, here's the conversation:
Miss Terri: "Max, I really like your hair cut. Who cuts it for you?"
Max: "my daddy"
Miss Terri: "well he does a really nice job, I like it."
Max: "Yeah, he's a genius."
really...
...jeffer.
brainwashing.

the newest member of our family...
Storm-face, Jr.
I can't imagine where she got this look! I never make this face!
She's been doing it a lot lately...in this picture, she's actually saying no because it's the only way I could get her to make her storm face, but she normally just does it when you tell her something she doesn't like or doesn't want to do.
Or just whenever she feels like slipping you a little bit of ice.
sheesh!
Feistier and feistier!
(but she's still stinkin' cute)
loved this...
20 Ways to Make a Good Marriage Great
by Richard W. Linford
1. Night and Morning Prayer … to say thanks, to ask for help in your marriage and family, to worship together.
2. A Weekly Planning Meeting … to discuss the calendar, talk over needs and problems, decide priorities and next steps.
3. A Daily Phone Call or Personal Conversation … to say “I love you,” to touch base, to discuss the day, to show you care.
4. A Weekly Date … to a favorite park, a concert, the library, the gym; or staying home for a candlelight dinner, a game, or a mutual hobby.
5. Patience Regardless … of missed meals, tardiness, forgotten favors, a thoughtless remark, impatience.
6. Daily Service … helping with house or yard work, mending a piece of clothing, taking a turn with the sick baby, fixing a favorite meal. (Write it down. Do it!)
7. A Budget … to tie down income and expenses, help set financial goals, and give you control over your finances.
8. Listening … not only to what is said, but also to what is meant.
9. Regular Attendance … at church—and where possible—the temple.
10. Daily Scripture Reading … to learn the gospel, to receive inspiration for yourself and your marriage, to become more like Jesus.
11. Working Together … caring for a garden, painting a bedroom, washing the car, scrubbing floors, building a piece of furniture, writing a poem together, team teaching a class.
12. Forgiving Each Other … always learning from each other, trying a different way, being the first to make peace.
13. Courtesies … like saying please and thank you, not interrupting or belittling, not doing all the talking, continuing the niceties of courtship.
14. Soft and Kind Words … of tenderness, compassion, empathy.
15. Learning Together by … reading to each other, discussing ideas, taking a class.
16. Respecting … opinions, ideas, privacy.
17. Supporting Your Spouse’s … church service and righteous goals.
18. Caring for Your Spouse’s Family by … enjoying their company, praying for them, serving them, overlooking differences.
19. Occasional Gifts … such as a note, a needed item—but mostly gifts of time and self.
20. Loving with All Your Heart. “Thou shalt love thy wife [thy husband] with all thy heart, and shalt cleave unto her [him] and none else.” (D&C 42:22.)
i found this here today...and loved it! always good to remember how to make eternity even better!

look who we saw today!
we had just left Michaels and were heading home when we stopped at a red light and Max said:
"Mom, look: it's Grave Digger!"
"Yeah, cool" I said, seeing a sliver of a big black truck at Big O
"No, mom! It's the real Grave Digger!"
"yeah, cool max, I see it...it's black and green like Grave Digger is, I can see why you think that."
"No mom...its the REAL Grave Digger."
Green light, I go...Holy Crap, it really is, Batman!
We turned in, and got out of the car and the only thing I had on me was my stinkin' cell phone that doesn't take very good pics...dang!
So, knowing we had an hour and a half before he left, we ran back to the car, and headed home to grab our toy grave digger monster trucks and my camera...and we called the Monster Truck Briscoes to see if Nate-Dogg would want to come back with us!
So glad we did!
We hit EVERY red light on the way there...Nate's brother Jack said he had bad luck...it was his fault. {he was so cute}
The boys were soooo excited!
{nate, max, ivy and jack}
It was the real deal!
We met Charlie Paucken, the driver and he signed 3 trucks, one picture {drawn by Jack} and Nate's shirt {why didn't I bring Max's!?}
I love this picture because Max was so excited the whole time!
everybody had a chance to sit in the rim...
duh-duh-dum-dum-dummmmmm...
Seriously!, how awesome to get to see the REAL grave digger so up close and personal! We loved it! What a fun surprise!

What on earth have we been doing?!?
It's pink week! we've been enjoying out Valentine Countdown (that I posted about here at our new craft blog) And we've been spreading the love all over the neighborhood...
here are some of the fun things we've done so far...
{do you like how I didn't wash her face after dinner? nice.}
and then after we cut, we pasted our teeny tiny pieces into heart shapes...
we loved our neightbors on Sunday...and brought them Michele Briscoe's YUMMY peanut butter chocolate chip banana bread. ooooh, so good!
we played the 'steal my heart game'. I gave them 1 minute to take conversation hearts out of the bowl with tweezers and stick them in their muffin cup...Max loved it!
We painted the sidewalk with sidewalk paint
and got it everywhere! But the beauty is that it totally wipes off! ( I still had the stuff from last year to do this! love it)
We did our Valentine Couinting activity...just the same as we did here at Halloween with candy corn, only since we do it so often, I got my booty in gear, and upgraded our materials!
Ivy even did a good job learning her numbers...
and we've been playing, and of course doing things un-related to valentines day...
...Max got a new treasure from the treasure box...thanks, Logan!
we made a tic tac treat for our fav's the Doyle's, to wish them good luck this season... found the idea here
...and today, we made slushy-facial cupcakes...(it's a glee thing.) and I can't wait to eat them! found the idea here.
we've been busy while daddy's been gone...but we're roundin' third, and he's coming' home tomorrow!
We have lots more fun things up our sleeve to do until the big Valentines day...It's so fun to have so many holidays to theme projects and activities around!
