In trying to decide what to do for Ivy's birthday party this year, I kept coming back to this idea...A Wild Alphabet Hunt...wild animals, AbC's...
so, that's what we did...and it turned out really cute!
We had little clipboards with the letters of the alphabet on them. And letters I'd cut out with my cricut hidden all over the yard. The idea was for the kids to walk around and cross off the letters they found. Luckily there were some older kids there who appreciated it a little more, but I think the little kids had fun with it for a second! :)
(Ivy waiting for her friends to come!)
We had a table set up with the Letter-shaped sugar cookies...that spelled out each of the kids that were coming. They got to decorate the cookies with fun frosting and sprinkles and make a name for themselves.
We had animal parts in jars...and I had printed off each kiddo's initial for them to decorate with animal parts...(leopard-printed felt squares, tails from a wild hare (cotton balls), Feathers from a tropical flamingo, voice of a chimpanzee (you know, oooh, ooh, ooooh) and snake eyes (sparkly beads).
and the best part...the cake and cupcakes! I enlisted the help of my friend Lindsey to decorate the cupcakes for me. (I am so not talented in the frosting department!)
She was amazing, and they turned out fabulous...I made the cupcakes, and past them on to her to do her magic!
Can you believe that ginormous cupcake?
I had to buy those random zebra cakes from Big Lots for the occasion to cover up the bottom of the tray.
Here are the cupcakes...I'm still dying at how amazing they looked...and how amazing Lindsey was!
Leopards, Zebra and Giraffe! i love them!
Singing to Ivy...
Feasting!
It was mostly just so fun to have a bunch of friends over at our house to play...Ivy loved it and I loved it!
I loved scheming up ideas to do (even though it seemed like I didn't have very much to do...they're 2, right?)
Goody Bags:
The best part is that I really didn't have to buy a whole lot of stuff...I had to buy frosting, and cake mixes, and a couple of other random things, but I used fabric scraps, tablecloths that I already had, labels I already had, craft supplies, containers, plates, napkins, cake stands, Jars, etc, everything that I just had in my stash. And if I didn't have it, I borrowed them! LOVE IT!
Thanks to Brooke who came to help me set up because Jeff wasn't home, and to Jeff for blowing up all those balloons before he left! (seriously, huge help, blowing up balloons is not my favorite!)
Happy Birthday to Ivy!
