...but boy, this girl can scoot!

The Dynamics of the Hunt

This was my favorite hidden egg today...best hiding job ever..
I'm serious because it was almost the last egg to be found.
matchy matchy, right under your nose kind of hiding job.  I loved it.

...but the 1 egg that we told them had $$ in it...was just out of reach and both wanted it and tried to get it so bad.  Lets just say that the person that got it, I'm glad got it...because if the roles were reversed, the attitude would have been seriously questionable.
Good Job, Em...it must have been the Jeans!

happy Easter! (we're cracking up!)

This is as good as we could get today before church...

(shocker, I made that dress!  this was my first experience making a piece of clothing from an actual pattern!  Glad it's over!)

Happy Easter to you!
And then after church, for lunch, we broke out the last of our easter eggs and cracked them on each others heads as tradition affords:

Here's what happens when Ivy cracks an Egg on Max's head:  "awww...she did it too hard!  come on!"

...and Ivy just laughs... I love Jeff's face in the background!

Earth Day

It's Earth Day!
So, today, we recycled some Plastic Grocery bags at the Disney Store and received some really fun Tangled Re-usable grocery bags instead..
.{Felt like total white trash carrying our HUGE bag of bags into the mall... yep, the one with Tiffany and Burberry and all the other crazy expensive stores...but whatever!}
we recycled 1 bag of cans and bottles (had to recycle that stuff on earth day) and for the 1 bag we got $8.34 plus a free energy efficient light bulb!
And dropped off some poo at Goodwill for others to delight in!  hee hee
So, on the way home, we quizzed...what are the 2 important reasons that WE recycle...and I will tell you what we decided:
1.) Heavenly Father made our earth, and it's our job to keep it clean and beautiful.
2.)We appreciate that we an benefit from doing our part and are saving all the money we get for our SunDevil/Cougar fund...Max is trying to decide which one already!
And, in thinking back to the rainbow cupcakes we made for St. Patty's day here, the kidlets helped me make Earth cupcakes for dessert...super fun!

We had a very fun, busy day...and we loved it!

dying is fun

Today, we finally got to dye easter eggs!
It's so fun, and I love the bright vibrant colors!
We read these two Easter books...about dying eggs.  We LOVE these two books!

 {pretend Max wrote that...hehee.  what horrible handwriting!}
the kids were such good listeners, and were so excited about doing double-dipped ones and coloring on them.  We're a little too impatient to get the fun super bright colors that I love, but one day, they'll be old enough to wait!
I can't wait for easter for our Egg Cracking tradition! (stay tuned)
{thank you Ellsworth fam!}

7 packets

of strawberries 'n cream oatmeal
at 1 breakfast.

 really?
2 for Ivy, 5 for Max
and those bowls are licked clean.
We need to buy stock...and I'm so bugged that they don't sell Strawberries 'N Cream, or even Peaches 'N Cream in bulk...the bananas and blueberry ones are not our fav!
7!
that's almost the whole box.
we need to think of some new options!

'Smeeps

Jeff has been traveling SOOO much more than previous years this baseball season.  Which is great for him!  But the kids and I have missed him!  He's been gone sort of back to back to back that he told us that Sunday he was going to totally take off...awesome!!!
So, last minute we decided to invite a few of our neighbors over for a 'Smeep party.
('Smeeps are all over blog land, and I've been dying to try them!)
Don't know what a 'smeep is?  don't worry...

'Smeeps!
hilarious, right??!?
I know...I've been dying!

I did feel a little rotten poking a stick through the little cuties...

but...

I think they were pretty much a hit with everybody!

(ok, Ivy just liked the peeps...)

The Little Mousser, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the BIG hungry bear

Yesterday, Max and Ivy found this:

Our first strawberry of the season...
So, we hurried inside, and read this:

After trying many ways to hide our delicious red, ripe strawberry such as burying it, or chaining it up, we decided that the best way to keep it from the BIG hungry bear was for us to do this:

...and enjoy it ourselves...

...here's to many more of those this summer!

a seriously busy day!

Along with Ivy's birthday party on Saturday, we had 2 other birthday parties to go to, as well as a T-ball game.  Especially without Jeff being home that day, I didn't know how the day was going to go, but we had a lot of help!  Before Ivy's part was over, Max got picked up by his friend Saxon so they could go to Kelan's 4th birthday party.  Max and Kelan are such cute friends, and they love to play together.  Kelan loves Dinosaurs...so he had a reptile party...it was so awesome.  As soon as Ivy's party was over, I brought the cupcakes inside, and whisked Ivy over to Kelan's to enjoy the reptiles.

awesome...albino corn snake...blue tongued skink...

water moniter...yikes!

Here's the cute birthday boy!

After Kelan's party, we were able to be home for about an hour and a half for a quick minute of down time, and a little bit of a nap for Ivy (mom got to clean up the back yard) before we had to head to the field for a little bit of this...still smiles while he runs...that's my boy!

Max and his friend Jordan

We had some more anger issues today...I thought we'd moved past those, but its hard to take turns when you play left field twice in one game, and no one can hit it past the pitcher!

Right after the game, We high-tailed it over to Ivy's friend Maddy's house for another birthday party...but this time it was an alligator reptile party.  Totally different than the other one, and just as amazing and new for the kids!
Max held a tarantula  (haha..he thought it was cool at first, and then when it came to his turn, he wasn't so sure about it.  I can't blame him, that thing is NASTY!)  But he did it for about 4 seconds.

That's his bud, River sitting next to him!

Ivy got to help hold some snakes...look at what a sweet friend the birthday girl, maddy is to Ivy.  i love that girl.  Maddy is in playgroup with Ives, and even though she's a year older than her, they play so cute.

To go along with their theme, Michelle had a tutu for the alligatore...so fun.  And Max got another chance to hold something!  So fun...this is his cheese face.

The other cool thing they did was let the turtles and tortoises on the ground, and then they gave the kids squirt bottles and toothbrushes so they could clean them.  Ivy loved that.
They also had a few little tubs with frogs and water turtles that Max was entranced with, and the kids were able to catch the frogs themselves and hold them.
We got home, had a quick game of Candy Land, and then went to bed.
It was a totally fun, crazy, super good, very busy day!

Ivy's Wild Alphabet Hunt Birthday Party

In trying to decide what to do for Ivy's birthday party this year, I kept coming back to this idea...A Wild Alphabet Hunt...wild animals, AbC's...
so, that's what we did...and it turned out really cute!

We had little clipboards with the letters of the alphabet on them.  And letters I'd cut out with my cricut hidden all over the yard.  The idea was for the kids to walk around and cross off the letters they found.  Luckily there were some older kids there who appreciated it a little more, but I think the little kids had fun with it for a second!  :)

(Ivy waiting for her friends to come!)

We had a table set up with the Letter-shaped sugar cookies...that spelled out each of the kids that were coming.  They got to decorate the cookies with fun frosting and sprinkles and make a name for themselves.

We had animal parts in jars...and I had printed off each kiddo's initial for them to decorate with animal parts...(leopard-printed felt squares, tails from a wild hare (cotton balls), Feathers from a tropical flamingo, voice of a chimpanzee (you know, oooh, ooh, ooooh) and snake eyes (sparkly beads).

and the best part...the cake and cupcakes!  I enlisted the help of my friend Lindsey to decorate the cupcakes for me. (I am so not talented in the frosting department!)
She was amazing, and they turned out fabulous...I made the cupcakes, and past them on to her to do her magic!

Can you believe that ginormous cupcake?
I had to buy those random zebra cakes from Big Lots for the occasion to cover up the bottom of the tray.

Here are the cupcakes...I'm still dying at how amazing they looked...and how amazing Lindsey was!
Leopards, Zebra and Giraffe!  i love them!

Singing to Ivy...

Feasting!

It was mostly just so fun to have a bunch of friends over at our house to play...Ivy loved it and I loved it!
I loved scheming up ideas to do (even though it seemed like I didn't have very much to do...they're 2, right?)

Goody Bags:

The best part is that I really didn't have to buy a whole lot of stuff...I had to buy frosting, and cake mixes, and a couple of other random things, but I used fabric scraps, tablecloths that I already had, labels I already had, craft supplies, containers, plates, napkins, cake stands, Jars, etc, everything that I just had in my stash.  And if I didn't have it, I borrowed them!  LOVE IT!
Thanks to Brooke who came to help me set up because Jeff wasn't home, and to Jeff for blowing up all those balloons before he left!  (seriously, huge help, blowing up balloons is not my favorite!)
Happy Birthday to Ivy!
