Merry Christmas!

Tomorrow is the big holiday that we have all spent weeks (some people even spent months) preparing for. Now that the holiday presents are purchased and wrapped, the meal ingredients are ready for prep, and the stockings are filled with treats for our pets, Jerome and I just wanted to take a moment and wish all of our loved ones a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah! We hope your holiday is filled with love, laughter and joy.

xoxo!

Holiday Wine Tasting Party

Cheers to the holidays!

This year, Jerome and I decided to change up the traditional holiday party, and host a blind wine tasting party. We  had over 20 guests, who each brought a bottle of wine to taste and an appetizer to share. For the tasting, we split the guests in to groups of four, and had them rotate through the stations, judging each wine in a variety of categories. Prizes were awarded for the wine voted best, as well as the wine with the lowest score. It was fun trying the wines and hanging out with  amazing people. We will definitely do it again!

...And Company Holiday Party 2008

...And Company held their annual holiday bash a few weeks ago at the club Social Hollywood, up in Hollywood. It was a great venue with several rooms, pool tables, dancing and a bar stocked with plenty of strong (and I mean strong) drinks. As usual, Jerome was the life of the dance floor. We stayed up there at the Renaissance Hotel at Hollywood and Highland, which I must say was average. I have definitely stayed in better places, but it was a mere 5 minute cab ride to the venue, so that made it very worth the $230. Here are a couple pics to recap the night.

Overall, we had a great night! We can't wait for next year!!

It's been awhile!

I know I have been neglecting the blog. I'm sorry, but life has been super busy, and unfortunately for the blog's sake, sleep has won over sitting in front of the computer. Not to mention the fact that have been battling a sinus/ear infection, amongst other things. The Christmas cards are finally mailed, so I thought the next best thing to do would be to update the blog. Here it goes-

The last time I wrote was at Halloween, so I thought I'd just give you a little run through of the past month's highlights and events.

The school year continues to power along. We just finished the first quarter, and I was bogged down with report cards and parent conferences. To my advantage, the parent conferences were incredibly smooth- Thank you parents for being so cooperative and understanding! The hardest part of teaching is dealing with the parents, and thankfully, the parents in my classroom are pretty mellow (minus one dad who questions everything, and I mean EVERYTHING!) I absolutely adore my students. They are a quirky little crew, but I do love them! They are by far the best behaved class I have had in all of my 4 1/2 years of being in the classroom. I will miss them come June. Jerome has been busy at work too. The latest project he has been working on is "Rescue Me" on Fx. It has also become one of his favorite shows. For those of you who watch it, Jerome has been able to preview a few of the episodes for the new season, and he says it is "amazing". The show airs in January sometime. We're hoping to get an invite to the premier! This Friday is his company Christmas party. The gala is at Social Hollywood, in Hollywood of course. We will be staying the night at the Renaissance Hotel, located at Hollywood and Highland. It should be an exciting evening- the parties are known for fabulous locales, great food, drinks and dancing. We can't wait!

I decided to start sewing again. This was partly influenced by the amazing deal I got on a sewing machine at a Black Friday sale. My first creation was a pair of pajama pants for Jerome. Although the pattern claimed it would take only 1 hour to sew, it turned out to be quite a feat! This is due mainly to the fact that Jerome and I decided to alter the pattern, and shorten the waist, instead of reading the directions. This turned out to be a big problem because that "big" waist was actually needed to create the waist band. So much for taking matters in to my own hands. Lucky for me, my mom is a world-class seamstress, and she coached me over the phone on how to make my own waistband out of the remnants. Surprisingly they turned out great, and Jerome admits they are quite comfy! Yay me! Over winter break my mom is going to give me some "lessons" on sewing. I bought these amazing vintage patterns (circa 1957- my favorite year of fashion!), and I'm dying to sew up the dresses. Hopefully this will be accomplished during my 2 week winter break.

Hard at work at the sewing machine!

Jerome and I recently had my nieces Savannah (age 12) and Georgia (age 10) stay with us for the weekend. It was a big change from our usual little ones ( Jaden and Mo), but it was so much fun! We had fun hanging out with them, and look forward to them staying with us again soon!

On the HB pier with my nieces

The pups are doing well. Lola just got a fresh haircut, in an attempt to make her look less mangy. She is still scruffy, but cute as ever. We are excited about treating her to her first Christmas with us! The weekend after Thanksgiving, we met up with our friends Christi and Jaime for a hike at Will Rodgers State Park (in the Palisades, just north of Santa Monica) in L.A. Christi and Jaime have Lou's sister Brooklyn, so it was great to see her, and the let the pups play together. It's crazy how much they look alike! The park was beautiful and the hike was awesome! It's another reason I love L.A- so many little gems! I would have never even knew this park existed!

This past weekend, Jerome and I went to the Belmont Shore Christmas Parade with George, Vanessa and her parents. It was totally cute and fun in a cheesy, small town kind of way. It definitely got us in the Christmas spirit!

At the Belmont Shore Parade

Finally, here is a look at what's ahead for us:

This Saturday: Holiday Wine Tasting Party at our house: Hope to see you there!
12/20- 1/4: Jen's Winter Break
12/20- Newport Beach Boat Parade with Peter, Whitney, Trang and Kevin
12/21- Christmas Brunch with the Boroff's
12/24- Jerome and I will celebrate our 9th year together- WOW!
12/25- Christmas (not sure what our plans our yet)
12/31- New Years Eve (we're thinking a small dinner part at our house, but we're still figuring out the logistics)

We'll keep you posted on all of the fun!

Gotta catch 'em all!

Jerome's Halloween costume this year was Ash Ketchum, of Pokemon fame. This was a throw back to our niece Victoria and I, and our love of the Poke! If only we could have found Lola the costume, she would have made the most perfect Pikachu

Before heading out to work

Jerome in action!

How could you not adore them?

These pics are just too cute to not share. Enjoy!

Why I chose Barack Obama!

If you know me, you know how much I love politics. You know that I pride myself in being an informed citizen and I that I have been following this presidential election since it began 20 months ago. I'm not one to rant and rave about my views and beliefs, but I just wanted to share my feelings on this election. I love voting day, and feel it is so important to make a big deal out of the process. As Americans, voting is both our right and responsibility. I have voted in every election since I turned 18, and although previous elections got me riled up, nothing made me feel like this time around. As I dutifully cast my ballot, I found myself tearing up. Not from sadness, but out of gratefulness to the fact that I as a single person, have the opportunity to take part in such a historic event. This election brought upon such feelings of hope for our country. As a teacher, I feel like this election brings a chance for my students to make it out there in this scary place we call reality. I have watched our economy and world relations go down the toilet over the past 8 years, and I  was eager to cast my ballot for some change. Later that evening, when it was announced that Barack Obama was to be our 44th president, I found myself weeping again. Obama brings so much hope into my heart and the hearts of millions of others. Just listening to him speak makes me feel like anything is possible in our world. He is proof that change is happening, and it's about damn time! This change goes far beyond political regimes and government policies. It is so much deeper than that! Barack Obama is proof that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. At one time in our nation's history, African Americans couldn't even drink from the same water fountains as other Americans, and today, we as a people have elected an African American as president. What an amazing country we live in! Finally, progress is being made. I feel that this hits home for me because many of my students are minorities. I spend the day motivating my students, encouraging them to follow their dreams and take on the world. Students have often expressed there dreams of being president one day, and at times I found myself questioning the reality of such possibilities. Barack Obama has given me the hope I need to push these students further and know that they CAN do anything, no matter what their background! He has renewed my faith in the American spirit, and I am proud to say that I took part in such a historic event. Thank you Barack, Thank you!

Wedding Season

Wedding season has officially ended for the Boroff's (or at least until the next one we are going to in December). As many of you know, it seems Jerome and I are always going to weddings. Who knew one could know so many people looking to tie the knot? The funny thing is: this is not a new trend. Jerome and I have had this situation for years. Our friend Aimee use to joke that we were on some wedding invitation database where people just automatically invited us. Lucky for me, I love weddings. Even though we have been married for over four years now, I still get all giddy at the thought of a wedding. I love the splendor of it. The gowns, the tuxedos, the decor, the cake, the ambiance, the champagne. I just can't get enough!

Rather than running down all the info about each set of nuptials, I just thought I'd make a little blurb and share some pics, since I'm sure that's what people want to see anyhow. For the sake of time, I will post about the two most recent: Kirsten and Adam LaKose and David and Dana Fiori.

Kirsten and Adam: October 17 in San Diego

Janelle and I with Kirsten

It was so exciting to go to Kirsten's wedding. Jerome had to work late that day, so I had the pleasure of pairing up with my amazing friend Janelle for the night, since her husband was also working. This wedding was so special to me because Kirsten and I had been great friends in High School, but given the distance between us with college and such, we had not seen each other in over 9 years! She looked beautiful, and was still the same old hilarious girl! It was also exciting that night because many of the girls we grew up with were also there. It was a mini class of '99 reunion!  The wedding was fabulous in true Kirsten style, and full of awesome personal touches done by Kiki herself. The highlight had to be the candy bar and the  bridal party cookbook favors. I can't wait to make some of the tasty treats!

David and Dana: November 1 in Palm Desert

It's official! Mr. and Mrs. Fiori!

This past weekend Jerome and I attended the wedding of our good friends David and Dana. We know David from the days at the Yard House. Dana and him have grown to be great friends, so we were super excited about their big day. They got married in Palm Desert, at the Desert Willow Gold Club. Palm Desert happens to be one of my favorite getaway places, so I had been looking forward to this weekend for awhile. We stayed at the JW Marriott, which was an amazing property! If you have never been there, you should go. It was gorgeous. Despite some ominous clouds and wind gusts, their sunset wedding on the golf club lawn went off without a hitch. They looked amazing, but if you know them, you will find yourself asking if there is ever a time that they don't? This was another wedding full of personal touches done by Dana herself.
My favorite part of the night, and probably Jerome, George and Vanessa's favorite part too, was the photo booth. Most of the guests, us included spent the night in the booth taking silly pictures. Every wedding should have on of these! The only downfall of the night was the fact
that I had a terrible cold brewing, and felt completely miserable. After dinner, I took the shuttle back to the JW and proceeded to bed. So much for dancing the night away in my new Betsey Johnson dress that I so adore! Anywho, here's a couple of pics to recap the night.

With George and Vanessa (they were in the wedding)

Having fun in the photo booth!

As a message to our friends, we just want to say thank you for letting us share in your special day! It is our pleasure and we wish much love and happiness as you embark on your journey as husband and wife!

Next stop on the wedding express: Jerome's friend Kristen's wedding in December....

My, how they've grown!

I thought I'd brighten your day with some love from Louis and Lola. The smiles are completely gratuitous!

Bow to the Queen!

I just wanted to give a shout out to my amazing friend, Vanessa, otherwise affectionately known as Queen V, Yard Bird, Diabla and many others. I want to thank her for making what could have been an awful weekend, as far as weekends go, in to something fun and memorable. Even through our "interesting" night at Coco De Ville in L.A, running out of gas at 3:30 am on the 405, my Sunday afternoon drama, dealing with the dogs, turning two cars in to the LAX airport shuttle, and all the other random crap that will go unnamed, she managed to make me smile. Together, we survived our weekend without our guys (they were in Scottsdale for David's bachelor party). Thank you QUEEN V! I love you girl! I'm so excited for you upcoming wedding!

And to all my other best girlfriends out there....I miss you! You're amazing ladies, and I want to see more of you! Melly Mel, EVA, Neane and Janelle: Lets do a girls night ASAP!

NKOTB: Step by Step

Last week I had the PLEASURE of going to the New Kids on the Block concert at Staples center with my crazy fun friends Vanessa, George and Jenneane. I had been waiting a mere 20 years to see them on a live stage (as close as I ever got was the VHS concert videos and TV specials).I have to say, the concert was f-ing amazing, and so as a nod to my favorite NKOTB song, I have broken down my recap of the night into 5 steps.

Step 1: The outfits!
First off, Vanessa is the ultimate bag lady. She has tons of random stuff, and is always buying more useless "crap". For our luck, that hobby of hanging on to stuff really paid off because V had an entire stock of original NKOTB memorabilia. I'm talking shirts, buttons, books, VHS tapes, posters and magazines. This allowed us to get all decked out in original NKOTB gear-not the new line of overpriced stuff they are selling for the concert. I personally wore a lovely 'vintage' shirt, complete with a puffy paint logo, and several Jordan Knight buttons. The highlight had to be George, who donned a NKOTB shirt and sweater, and Vanessa's Hanging Tough tour jacket.

Step 2: So much fun!
We began by tailgating in the parking lot. We even hung Vanessa's NKOTB comforter over the back of the car (just like people hang their team blankets at sporting events. We blasted the finest NKOTB beats, and made lots of friends with other super fans, like ourselves.

Step 3: 15 years has done them good!
The boys, or should I say men, of NKOTB are certainly looking hot these days. And, they sing just as great, although Joey's voice can't hit those high notes like it used to. Jordan still managed to by my favorite. I felt like an 8 year old girl all over again, as I screamed and cheered for him! I still love him after all these years!

Step 4: The randomness
The night was full of random mishaps and laughable moments. For instance,  Geo was the hit of the crowd . He was approached several times by gaggles of women who wanted to take pics with him and all his studly NKOTB pride. Many of them even asked if he came with a boyfriend!
Secondly, the line for the women's restroom was out of control (a given considering the huge amount of women at the show), so Jenneane and I decided to sneak inside the men's room, which had zero occupants. While we were in the stalls, we were laughing at how bad ass we were for 'breaking the rules'. Jerome's near-arrest in SB had nothing on us. Suddenly, Neane noticed we weren't alone, and prompted my loud mouth to shut up. The stall was covered by security. We waited until the security guy walked away, and then ran out of the bathroom. The security guy was getting 'back up' when we came out, so Jenneane and I continued running to our seats. Luckily, we didn't get kicked out. The final, and most random was the Lance Bass sighting. Of course the gays love NKOTB, so it was fitting that Lance be there. While on a bathroom trip, V spotted Lance outside in the hall, and mobbed him. She walked right through the crowd surrounding him, grabbed him, hugged him, and simply said, " I love your show", to which he replied, " I love yours." She walked away. If only we had a camera!

Step 5: The show did not disappoint!
From the opening song, "Single", to the final song, "Hanging Tough", the men of NKOTB sang every song as if they had been touring for the last 15 years. I cannot even describe how good they were, and how much fun this night was. They sang all of the old hits, and some of the new. I am so glad I got to see them! My childhood dreams finally came true!

The Weekend in a Yurt

Well, we survived. I know many of you spent your weekend wondering what exactly would become of Jerome and I as we spent two nights sleeping in our unsuspecting Yurt in Big Sur. What is a Yurt, you ask? In case you have never heard of such a thing (I hadn't before this weekend), a Yurt is actually a canvas covered, collapsible "tent". Basically, it's a round tent, but it has a wooden lattice frame as opposed to poles. We began our yurt adventure on Friday afternoon. Jerome picked me up at school (he finally got to meet my adorable students), and we headed on our way. Getting out of L.A was a nightmare, and it took us nearly 2 hours to get from Garden Grove to the 101 in Century City. Once we got on the 101, traffic was smooth, and we started making great time. Somewhere near Santa Barbara, there was what appeared to be a drunk driver in front of us (I guess he really wanted to celebrate the TGIF, considering it was only 6:30 pm, and he was obviously hammered). Being the concerned citizen, I called 911 to report the driver. Sadly, 911 didn't seem interested in my report. The operator was totally rude. She didn't even want the license plate number, and didn't believe me when I said the driver actually turned his car around in the center divider. I guess drunk driving isn't really a big deal these days?  Blame it on Lindsay Lohan...

Anyhow, we decided to stop in Buellton to have some split pea soup at Andersen's. It is a childhood favorite of mine, and it didn't disappoint! We got back on the road, and continued the next 2 hours to the Treebones Resort. The drive along Highway 1 was something of a nightmare. It was pitch black, so we could barely see. Worse than that, the road twists and turns around the ocean cliffs. Note to self: make sure we make the drive in the daylight next time.

We made it to the Treebones Resort around 9:45 pm, and got our Yurt keys, which were taped to the lodge front door. Why couldn't we go inside the lodge, you ask? Well, Treebones has a
9 pm quite curfew. Basically, there is no action allowed after 9. The lodge closes, and campers are expected to go to their Yurts and tents in silence. We made our way down the path to our lovely Yurt, #5. We were pleasantly surprised at how cute it was inside. It was like a little round cabin (it had wood floors, wood front doors and real furniture) that was morphed into a tent (the walls were canvas and the windows were plastic with zippers. We got unpacked, and decided to toast a few beers to commemorate our trip. Mind you, we had to do that in silence because there is no noise after 9 pm.
The bed and futon in our Yurt (there was also a small table with chairs and a sink)

After about a half hour, the boredom started to set in. Jerome and I were still pretty wired from our drive. Magazine and book reading wasn't really cutting it at this hour, and  unfortunately there was no TV to watch, no cell phone service to call out on (they didn't even have phones for guests), or available stations on the radio. Thankfully, we brought our I-pod doc, but we could only turn it up a little bit because we didn't want to get in trouble for making noise.

Eventually we fell asleep, but were soon woken by the sounds of pouring rain, howling wind, crashing waves and flying pine needles. At first, Jerome and I were both so startled by the noise, we thought it was someone trying to break in to our tent. We soon realized it was the torrential rain storm they had been expecting all day. The storm was loud, and lasted most of the night. I resorted to sleeping with headphones on, as a way to deter the noise, but it barely helped.

In the morning, Jerome and I headed to the lodge around 7:30am for the complimentary breakfast, which was all the supplies to make your own (fresh batter, waffle iron and all) Belgian waffles, coffee and OJ. It was actually quite good, too! After breakfast, the rain was light, so Jerome and I decided to explore the property, and hiked around, taking pictures. We spotted the "Human Nest", which is a piece of art created by a local artist. The nest is composed on twisted wood, and made into a little cocoon. Inside the nest was an air mattress with pillows. The resort says that one man even slept in the nest for two days. Now that is roughing it!

The view from the resort (that little road is Highway 1)

The  Human Nest

Around 9 am it started to rain again, so Jerome and I ended our hike, and headed back to the Yurt, where we sat. And sat. And sat. We spent time updating address books on our non-working phones (Jerome finally got his new I-phone), reading books, magazines and grading papers. At first the quiet and the lack of things to do was great. But as time went on, the thrill of laying around was losing it's luster. Now this may not be so bad under normal circumstances, but this time I was really starting to get "Yurt fever" (the derivative of cabin fever). It's great to relax, but I hate having no other options. Given the rain and remote location, there was nothing we could do except hang out in the Yurt. Even napping was getting boring. I guess this is what happens when you are  so used to running amuck with a to-do list a mile long. We just didn't know how to really do "nothing". It was the longest day of my life!

In the midst of all of this "action", I have forgotten to report the major downfall of Treebones resort. It is the bathroom situation. The resort has all public restrooms, which isn't that big of a deal. But, the few that they had were not the cleanest, and were sometimes very crowded with people waiting to take showers and such. For our sake, we were  very close to the restroom, which was nice, but it was still an inconvenient two minute walk in the pouring rain, and it was usually very messy and out of the necessary supplies (i.e. toilet paper). At one point, Jerome and I said we would love to buy this place, like Tori and Dean, and revamp it with classier restrooms, a small cafe, and maybe add a TV in the lodge to show movies or place working radios in the Yurts. The place definitely has potential!

A beautiful sunset

In the evening, Jerome and I cracked open a bottle of wine we brought (Au Bon Climat Chardonnay) as well as some cheese and crackers. For dinner we  headed back to the lodge where they served a BBQ dinner of salmon for myself, and tri-tip for Jerome. It was actually really good, and reasonably priced, considering it was our only option (other restaurants were a 45 minute drive on that winding road). After dinner, we hung out on the lodge's comfy leather couch and sat by the fire. I forgot to mention that we played with the resort owner's dog, an older Beagle named Biscuit. We fell in love and literally thought about smuggling him home to join our brood.

Around 9, quiet time, we headed back to our Yurt and went to sleep. The night was less noisy this time, but Jerome and I still couldn't seem to sleep the whole night through.

In the morning, we woke up early. We dined on the waffle breakfast, then took a final hike around the camp. It was finally sunny, and the views were amazing. Around 9 am, we got in the car and headed on our way back home. The coastal drive was so much better in the daylight. And, I must say, this part of our state is out of this world! I have never in my life seen coastal views like those along Highway 1. The cliffs and beautiful blue waters were amazing! Just before San Simeon, we stopped to check out all of the elephant seals, who make that part of California their home. They were so cool, and I cannot wait to share them with my students!

The mountains and cliffs along Highway 1

The beautiful coastline

The Elephant Seals near San Simeon

One final highlight of the weekend, was our stop at the  Camarillo outlets. I'm not big on outlet shopping, but this place is my new favorite. They have a Betsey Johnson outlet, where I
managed to score a fabulous dress (and left many others on the rack for a later purchase), and other outlets including my beloved Juicy Couture, Barneys, Saks, BCBG, Theory, and so many
others. I will definitely be making the trip again!

As a final verdict, Jerome and I could neither say we hated the weekend at Treebones, nor did we love it. It was just "okay". We would love to go back to the area, and actually venture further north to Big Sur proper, Carmel and Monterrey. Next time we will definitely stay somewhere that had a better bathroom situation as well as more amenities. If we go back to Treebones, we will definitely bring friends. Needless to say, it was an experience, and we are glad we didn't back out after all.

Only 6 days...

Till my childhood dreams come true and I see NKOTB at Staples with Vanessa, George, and Jenneane! I can't wait to hear them sing Step by Step! Oooohhhh Baby!

Ooops!

Last night I posted that Jerome and I will be staying at the Big Sur Lodge this weekend. Upon further discussion with Jerome, he informed me that he wanted to book the lodge, but they were full, and we are actually staying at the Treebones Resort. Why is this funny, you ask? Well, besides the fact that I think Jerome was asleep when he made the rezzy...the Treebones is actually "luxury" camping, not a hotel. We are staying in a Yurt, which is a permanent tent. There are communal bathrooms, no TV or phones, a noise curfew, and all dining is a good 45 minute drive (the website actually suggests you bring a cooler of food). This is totally not what we had planned! Yes, we love to camp, and the views are supposed to be spectacular. But, I have this thing about public restrooms...and did I mention public showers? Even more shocking, this place is actually 35 minutes from Big Sur, so we are not even staying in the area we thought we were! Our plan is to bring plenty of wine, books and the Ipod doc. We actually thought of canceling and heading to Santa Barbara instead, but you have to pay ahead and they have a "no cancellation" policy. We leave Friday night after I get off work, so I will post about our experience next week. I have done some research on Yelp, and the place has gotten great reviews, although it may be boring, so I am somewhat excited for the new adventure. Knowing Jerome and I, we will have plenty of laughs and antics to share! Until then, wish us luck!

Where have we been?

I know, it has been ages since posting a blog! Life has been taking us by storm, and since school has started, I have barely had a free minute to write anything unless it involved grading papers for my students. I am going to try to utilize this post as a quick update/rundown of what's happening in Boroff-land.

School: The kids are great. I have 28 3rd graders, which is a great number. Last year I had 31 at the highpoint, so 28 seems so small! Their little personalities are all coming out, and I'm really enjoying them in my classroom. They are a little quirky, and sometimes annoying, but they really lack the behavior issues that I dealt with last year. I have a feeling I am going to love this year!

Jerome's Work: Jerome has been super busy with projects. Most recently he has been working on Big Love, as well as the usual projects for CBS. He has also been seen all over town on billboards and magazines. You probably even spotted him! He was actually used in a print campaign for a CBS show called "The Mentalist". At work they often need people for photo shoots, and in this particular case they used Jerome. In the ad below, he is the guy who "robbed a bank". Some of the billboards around town say he "killed his wife", which happens to be my personal favorite. (ha ha).
In other news, Jerome and I went to Grass Valley this past weekend for our friends Justine and Tim's wedding. We were lucky enough to share the trip with George and Vanessa (Queen V was in the wedding). If you're not familiar with Grass Valley, it is an old mining town in the foothills of the Sierra's. It's about 45 minutes from Truckee and about an hour outside of Sacramento. It was a pretty little town- we loved the fresh air and pine trees. The town was hilarious, and full of old west shopping and dive bar saloons. The wedding was beautiful, and we couldn't be happier for Justine and Tim.

This weekend, our road trip continues with a trip to Big Sur. Jerome was originally slated to run the Big Sur Trail Marathon, but his training didn't go as planned, so he is opting out. We had already pre-booked the hotel for the weekend, so we decided to still go anyhow, since neither of us have ever been there. We are staying at the Big Sur Lodge, which is supposed to be very interesting and "untraditional". I am super excited!

As I stated earlier, Jerome and I have been maxed out on obligations and trips over the last few weeks. Here is our itinerary at a glance:

10/3-10/5: Big Sur
10/10-10/12: Jen in L.A for Dana's Bachelorette Party
Jerome in Scottsdale for David's Bachelor Party
10/17- Kirsten's Wedding
10/18- UCLA game/tailgate with Uncle Paul and Aunt Patti
10/31-11/2- David and Dana's wedding in Palm Desert

That does it for the mini-update. I promise to post next week with pics from Big Sur.

xoxo!

Loves it...

Okay, two new obsessions. First, The Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo. D-I-E (if you watch the show, you know what this means...it is now my new "catch phrase)! I think I have found my new favorite show...I mean, hello, amazing clothes, shoes, accessories, celebrities....could there be anything better?

Second, Piperlime.com. It is an online shoe site with all price points! Too good to be true!

Hope you have a fabulous Friday!

Double Trouble

It's been awhile since I posted pics of the pups, so I decided to share a few of them from this past weekend. I hope they make you smile and laugh, just like they do for Jerome and I!

This is Louis and Lola enjoying their "frozen" new toy. We got this cool tub that you fill with water and their treats or toys. You then freeze it. Once it's solid, you put it out on the pedestal for the dogs to lick and chomp (they LOVE ice) till they break the treats and toys free. It kept them busy for hours!!

This is LouLou, giving us his typical profile shot! We just love him!

Lou's favorite toy when he was a baby was this "mini loofah-dog" squeeze toy that our friend Elise had bought him. At Walgreen's in Arizona they were selling these massive versions, so we knew we had to get them one. Despite it's huge size, Louis still managed to bust a hole in the seam within 10 minutes. I guess size doesn't matter..? Poor little Lola could barely get a hold of the stuffed toy, but she tried her best to keep up with the boy!

This is me and my "happy" little girl. I always call her "happy" because she is constantly running around with a silly grin and her tongue hanging out. It is absolutely adorable! She makes my heart melt.

The last picture happens to be one of our favorite Lola moments. Despite her dainty little figure and innocent grin, Lola is always getting in to trouble with her brother Lou. On this particular day, the pups had been playing outside in the yard while Jerome was washing his truck. Earlier that morning, the grass and flower beds had been watered, making the soil somewhat muddy. Little miss sunshine here decided that she wanted to go play in the mud! She came prancing in the house with a soaking wet, brown beard and four muddy, brown paws. Lou hung back, watching her, and managed to stay clean and dry. We love this pic because the look on her face is priceless. Lola is always getting dirty. She is the first one to roll in the dirt or dig holes. Jerome and I like to imagine that she has acquired such habits from her days roaming the L.A streets. We make up stories about her digging sleeping holes to stay warm or getting muddy to camouflage in from being caught by the pound. The stories are sometimes  heart wrenching, but who knows....they could be true......! Needless to say, we love her and Louis! Even at their worst, they are the best!
