Where Babies Come From

After explaining to Sadie that our next door neighbor is about to have a new baby, we had the following conversation.

Mommy: Sadie, you used to be in mommy's belly. God put you in my belly and you were very little. You kept growing bigger and bigger until one day you came out.
Sadie: Yeah, I booped out.
Mommy: You what?
Sadie: I booped out of your belly.
Mommy: You pooped out?
Sadie: No, I booped out. And Norah was in Daddy's belly and booped out of him.
She went on to explain how her other friends booped out of their mommy's bellies and are now growing big just like her.

It took a while to sort this all out.

Turns out her daddy told her her birth story on her birthday last week wherein he said that "God put a tiny baby in mommy's belly and she grew bigger and bigger and then bloop, you came out of mommy's belly..."

Hilarious I tell you. I love how she is able to process and retain more difficult concepts and apply them to other situations (like our friend's pregnancies and kids). It is amazing to watch how her little mind works in such sweet, innocent ways. Love this kid.

Happy 3rd Birthday Sadie!!! (updated!)

Our Sadie girl is officially an adult...or she might as well be. Today she turns three-years-old and it's hard to believe she's grown so much (I know, I know...I say this for every birthday, milestone, etc). We celebrated the big day with a party on Saturday. The theme: orange. We all know just how much this kid loooooves all things orange. Despite the fact that I'm not a huge fan of the color, I indulged our sweet girl and we threw her a super cute orange party!

These goodie bags may be my favorite part of the party. They were filled with orange treats like Cheez-Its, Reese's Cups, and Kit Kats. So fun!

The madness of opening gifts. It was actually a bit less intense then usual years!

All of our friends came to celebrate! Though this picture doesn't show everyone, we're grateful to have some many adults and kids that love our Sadie! We only wish our place were big enough to accommodate all her sweet girlfriends at school. The bain of a winter birthday. Sorry kid.

This is so Sadie. I asked her to smile at the camera, but as hard as she tried, she couldn't take her eyes off the cake. Can't blame the kid!

To answer your question, no, I did not make this awesome cake. I decided to take the pressure off and let our local cake bakery do the job. This will probably happen a lot in the future, since the cake was so pretty!

I will take credit for the cake banner!

And did I mention this cake had four layers with raspberry filling. Mmmm!

WARNING: This video just might break your heart. Poor kid may have gotten a little overwhelmed as soon as she realized all the singing was for her.

Much happier after a moment with daddy and a piece of cake!

We asked everyone to wear orange if they had it! So fun!

She is just the most amazing little girl! We love you Sadie!

First Gymnastics Class!

Sadie started gymnastics on Monday.  It may be one of the cutest things I have ever seen her do, but I was not exactly on my game that morning. After some difficulty getting everyone ready and out the door on time, I decided I still had enough time to get a much needed coffee drink. Shocker...I didn't.  We fly in the door of gym and Sadie can't get her street clothes off quickly enough to run out on the floor. Don't forget, she has no idea where she is going and who anyone is. Love her.

Anywho, Sadie settles right into the group stretching session and I take Little Miss Norah upstairs to the balcony waiting area. Not. Kid. Friendly. At all. Concrete steps, metal bleachers, dirty floors, and lots little baby siblings that she wanted to get her hands on. It was all I could do to keep this kid entertained, out of people's business, and not screaming for all to hear in the echo chamber of a gym.

At one point, Sadie has to go potty so I grab Norah and help Sadie pee, barely keeping Norah out of the trash and toilets. Everyone settles back in. Five minutes later, the teacher looks up at me and curiously states, "Mom...I think she needs you again." Norah and I go back downstairs to discover a not-so-cute tail in Sadie's leotard. If you're thinking she got distracted with all the excitement and pood her pants for the first time since she's been potty trained (for mooooonths), you just might be correct. Sad face.

You should have seen me. Pretty sure I looked like a crazy person. Random moms in the bathroom are keeping Norah from playing in the toilets and run for freedom out the door, while I do my best to take care of Sadie's, a'hem...business. Ick. Praise the Lord, Norah just so happened to be playing with a baggy containing Sadie's spare panties in my purse (which we have never had to use before.)

Despite all the craziness of our Monday morning, it was well worth it. Sadie is going to love this! And I will be much more prepared next week!
