Merkle!

Right now, you are wondering what the heck "Merkle" is, right? Well, naturally it's a hiking trail; the one the Jensen 3 hiked yesterday. See? I'm not making this up.

This was actually Linc's first hike where we weren't carrying him on our backs in one of those little baby backpacks that Monica refused to wear. . .(too close to feeling pregnant again I guess. I got to know what it feels like first hand to be pregnant. . .on your back. . .wierd!)

For all of you who think Arizona is a dry, ugly, dirty, brown, cactus filled wasteland, you are SOOO wrong! Except for the cactus part.

Behold. . .

Potpourri

Food Storage and 72 hr kits, part of our New Year's Resolution

Monica started her Masters of Administration degree with an emphasis in Leadership at Northern Arizona University.

We have had lots of car problems this week. The battery in Monica's car died and a couple of days later, the driver's side axle on Shawn's car broke. But Guess what? We just saved a whole bunch of money our car by having our neighbor fix it! :) Thanks Spencer!

Inauguration Day

We also want to recognize the new 44th President of the United States of America. We are grateful to live in a country where the the change of power goes smoothly and respectfully. We are grateful to live in a country where the citizens get to voice their opinion and that opinion is recognized. We did not vote for President Obama, but we respect the office that he holds and look forward to what his idealism and desire for change can bring to our nation.

John's Magical Week of Birthday Bliss!

This whole week has been one big party celebrating John's impressive age change from 16 to 17. We're all so proud of him. The events all kicked off last week when we got a call from John telling us he had gotten his driver's license. And the fun has never stopped!

On Wednesday (John's Actual Birthday), we had a "grown up" party with Monica cooking her world famous chicken rollups.

We didn't have any birthday candles so a big fat orange scented candle did the trick.

On Friday, we held a crazy party with John's friends. Here is where John sat.

That's actually Mtn Dew. . .He's not THAT old yet :)

Only seconds before this. . .

Aloha 2009

For New Year's Monica and Kara decided to do a Hawaii-themed party and we had a real blast! We had Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner. We had Mario Kart going on downstairs and we played the Newlywed game using a bunch of questions Monica and I found on the internet. It was fun getting together with everyone. My mom had a bunch of noise/mess making new year's toys we used to ring in the new year which was a heck of a lot of fun to clean up the next morning. You'll see how Monica coped with the mess in the pictures.

Aloha 2009!
