Muddy Buddies

What I thought was going to be good clean fun . . .

Ended up at first to be just a little bit of a muddy mess . . .

Yet, moments later turned into them being covered head to toe in mud.  Honestly, how did they get this muddy, its almost like they laid right down in the mud.  Oh, guess what, that is exactly what they did.  Not only were they completed covered, those mud boots were clear full of water.

I guess the saying that says, "Please excuse the mess, our children are making memories" has more truth to it now than ever.  There is no way I could have ever told them no to playing in the mud, even if it came right down to spraying them down layer by layer, down to their naked bums!

Grandpa O's Elk Hunt

Grandpa Okerlund drew a big bull elk tag this year, which meant a weekend full of late nights and early mornings.  The opening day of the hunt was on Saturday, so late Friday night, the guys all showed up to the designated camping spot at Mt Terrel's Ranger Station.  They hunted really hard all day Saturday and all day Sunday and was never able to get close enough to either get a good shot or they never did get so see one.

Trey stayed all weekend, Friday night to late Sunday.  Jeremy came back and forth because of chores and so it made it so McKenna could ride up with them and hunt on Sunday.  This weekend was such a good weekend for the kids to hang out with their cousins.

Grandpa O did fill his tag, but Justin and Marshall were the only ones that got to be there when the Elk went down.  Even though it would have been fun for all the kids to watch the elk go down, the memories they made just being together was worth it all!

Okerlund Girls Weekend

When the boys are away, the girls are going to play . . . .
ALL NIGHT LONG!

This weekend went down in history as definitely a fun weekend away with just the Okerlund girl cousins!   The party started Friday night at Tammy's house.  It wasn't long before we decided we were hungry, so The Hot Spot here we came.

The little girls were so easily entertained by trying to get the attention of the trafiic.  They were event fortunate enough to get a few honks from only a few cars.  What few they got, made their night and they were sure to do their happy dance with a little bit of dabbing!

Afterwards, we headed back to Tammy's to hang out and visit.  The little girls played and played, until we  decided it was bedtime.  We turned on a movie and most of them were out within minutes, except Erin and Lottie.  We were still up visiting at 2:00 am and these two were die hards and didn't want to go to bed until we called it a night!

We got up Saturday morning, ate a good breakfast and headed over to Grandma Jolayne's house to help her move and unpack.  We got a lot done and had a ton of fun doing it.

The little girls all had fun out back as they built fairy gardens in Grandma' s back yard.  It was so fun to see their creativity in using rocks, bricks, sticks, and other items to come up with quite the impressive fairy gardens.

Afterwards, we went to Mary's house to eat some more and make a fall craft.  She had pumpkins ready for us to paint and decorate for each girl to take home.  These all turned out so cute and the girls were so excited to take home their own set.

What a fun weekend for all of us!  These girls all have so much fun with each other, despite the age differences.  I love each of these girls so much and they mean the world to me.  So grateful for them and their mothers.  We are all so blessed.

Mini Drill Team Camp

Over the past three days, Allyson has been participating in the Mini Drill Team camp.  She has had so much fun learning a dance in preparation for Friday nights home football game.  I gave both her and Lottie the option to do the camp, and only Allyson was the only one that took me up on my offer.  Of course, Lottie's response was, "I hate dance!", so needless to say I didn't have to worry about signing her up for it this year!

After Friday's practice on the football field, Shae King came to our house to play.  Her and Allyson are quite the cute little set of friends, so to both being doing drill team camp was pretty fun.  I got home from work and when I walked in the house, they had been in and got their make up ready for the night.  I was a little concerned with their look, so I convinced them that if they wash their face I would paint a design on their cheeks!  They were all for that and we had so much fun painting paw prints and Go Bulldogs on each of their cheeks.

So once their faces were painted, ribbons tied on shirts and in hair, these girls were ready to go!  Note that even though Lottie doesn't like to dance, she was all girl when it came to be dolled up, and doesn't she look cute!
