Colter's birth story:
On December 8, I had a doctor's appointment at 8:30 in the morning. I had been having contractions the night before, about every 15 min apart. I knew they weren't close enough together to get me too worried, but I also could tell they were definitely getting stronger. At my appointment, my doctor, Dr. Leavitt, checked me and told me I was about 2.5 cm dilated and 75% effaced. He also told me that I could have the baby anytime now, and he wouldn't be surprised if it happened before my scheduled induction date, Dec 19. Little did we know he would be born that very night!
Around 2 in the afternoon, I had just woke up from a nap with Luke when my water broke! I called Jesse, and he came home from work immediately. We were super excited and gathered up our stuff to head to the hospital! We dropped Luke off with his grandma and headed into Labor and Delivery. I got all checked in and waited for the contractions to start. After about 2 hours, I wasn't contracting on my own, so they started me on some pitocin. A few hours later, I got my epidural, so I was able to relax and enjoy the evening while we waited! My mom made it to the hospital around 8 p.m. I was so glad that Colter waited for her to get there before he arrived! Dr. Leavitt came in and checked me again around 9:30 and said I still had a ways to go, and he guessed it would be another 5-6 hours. I got checked once more at 10:45 p.m. and was dilated to 6 cm. From there, things moved along super fast, and 20 min later I was pushing. I only had to push through 5 contractions, and 10 min later, Colter was here! It was a very smooth labor and delivery, and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way! We are so glad to have our second little boy here with us, and Luke just LOVES having a baby around. He is such a good big brother, and worries every time Colter is fussing or upset. We just love our little family!
