So we have been a little busy this month with all the holiday things that have been going on. A couple of weeks ago we did a gingerbread house. We though about just baking our own, but with two kids that want to help with everything, the $8 Costco kit was good enough. The girls had a lot of fun, especially Layla. This Friday, the 21st, we went to the Botanical Gardens here in Boise to see the lights that they put up there. They weren't as neat as the lights at Temple Square, but we had a lot of fun. Santa was there and the line was only about 3 kids long so the 3 minute wait outside was way better than the 3 hour wait inside the mall. They had a Santa at our ward Christmas party, and Layla was excited to be able to see him so many times. Hazel, not so much. Through Layla's visits with Santa, we discovered that the thing that she wants most from Santa this year is a jump rope??? Justin will be heading out at 7:00 am tomorrow to Target to pick one up. At least it is not a puppy, or we would have one disappointed girl. Layla loved to run around at the Gardens and look at all the lights. With as cold as it was Hazel only lasted about an hour and then it was back to the car. Layla on the other hand, insisted on running up and down the trail, which was a pretty good sized hill, over and over until until a bribe of a $.50 glow stick got her back to the car. By that time Elsie and Hazel had run about a !/4 tank of gas keeping the car warm. We have had a fun time this year gettign ready for CHristmas and can't wait till it gets here. We hope that all is well with everyone and that you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Hazel turns ONE !!!!
Our little Hazel turned one on the fifth of December. Justin had class late that night, so we decided to celebrate it on the sixth. We went out to dinner with Steve and Mary Ann and then came back to the house for cake and ice cream. Hazel wasn't so sure about the cake, but Justin got her to eat a little bit of it. Then she opened her presents. She got a music table, a princess doll, clothes, and a teddy bear. Layla assisted in the opening of the presents and still claims them as her own. We are working on that. It was a fun evening and here are some pics so you all can be part of it.

PS We got a lot of comments on our family picture. We took it ourselves at Katherine Albertson Park. And we are sending one in our Christmas card. So if you're worried about not getting one, send your address to us so we won't forget!

Fun at the Park
We have a park not too far from the house that Elsie takes the kids to "if they are good". This last time Layla rode her tricycle most of the way while proclaiming every block, "Look Mom, I'm getting my exercise!" Hazel also enjoyed going to play this time instead of going to watch Layla play, until Layla pushed her down the slide head first. Hopefully it says "warm" a little longer so Elsie still has something to hold over Layla's head for her to be good.

Halloween
Halloween has come and gone. Layla was a beautiful Princess Leia, and Hazel a Dinosaur. Hazel was called a boy about 20 times, but that's what I get for putting her in a unisex costume. Layla won the best costume award at our Trunk-or-Treat. She was very proud and excited. We Trick-or-Treated around our old neighborhood for a couple of hours before it got too cold. We had a lot of fun!

Layla's Third Brithday!
Yesterday was Layla's birthday. We had a lot of fun. Grandma Christensen and Aunt Mindy came up to celebrate it with her. They got up here on Wed and left earlier today. We had been planning on going to the Linder Farms pumpkin patch to get pumpkins, and were glad that it stopped raining just long enough for us to go. It was lots of fun. Layla rode the kiddie cow tractor and played on the inflated slides. After she was finished with that, which wasn't long enough according to her, we went to the pumpkin patch and picked our pumpkins. Hazel really enjoyed the tractor ride that took us to and from the fields. The kids were pretty tuckered out by the time we headed home. When we got home we had some of Layla's swimming pool cake that Elsie made. Layla had been asking all day long for the cake. We opened her remaining presents after cake. For her birthday, and throughout the course of the week, Layla got a scooter, some rolling luggage, some Sunday clothes, books, games, puzzles, skates and cards. He was very excited with all of her gifts, but tossed aside the money that she got in her pretty cards. Isn't it usually the other way around? Anyways, thank you to everyone that helped to make her feel special on her birthday. She is already looking forward to her next one.

Ballet Lessons
Layla had the greatest time at her first Ballet lesson. Justin and I decided she needed something active and social to do. Justin suggested dance, so here she is. She loved it so much. At the end she didn't want to leave. She gets to go every Tuesday at noon. And She will have 2 Recitals. I'm really excited for her. And She was just so darn cute!!

Hazel Walking
So this week Hazel started walking pretty good. She started a few weeks ago taking a couple of steps, but this week she just let go. The other pictures are from Craters of the Moon. We stopped there on our way back from a funeral that we had in Alta WY this last week.

Who Knows????
While we were at McCall for family vacation we got to play a few games. We all showed Devan how to really play Settlers and there was a little Rook action. Another game that was played was Hillarium. Little did most people know that some of the game was caught on video. It's funny how crazy people act when they think that nobody is watching....

Catching up
Ok, ok. So we slacked off during the summer. And then we moved and haven't had Internet until now. So those of you who check our blog regularly, we apologize. I just kind of wanted to do a catch up blog. So I went to St. George for a family reunion, and we went to McCall a couple of times. Right before the Walker family vacation we moved to Boise and into an apartment. Our new address is 6253 Tierra Ln #102 Boise ID 83704. Justin stared his last semester at BSU and I stay home with our girls. They are growing like weeds. Hazel mimics things that we do and is trying to walk. 6 steps so far. Layla thinks she is 16 and lets us know it. Parenting is a bit of a struggle. Justin's schedule is rather busy so we are alone a lot. But we try to make our time together count though. Over labor day we went to the Boise Zoo. It was a rather warm day but we enjoyed our outing. We were bummed though, because the monkey house was closed due to the birth of a baby monkey. But the butterflies were there.

First Ski of the Year
This last Saturday Grandpa Walker took us to Mann Creek Reservoir, near Weiser. Justin got his first 2 ski runs of the year in and looked pretty good. I also skied and was very proud that I at least got up. Layla said she wanted to ski with Daddy, until she jumped in the freezing cold water. She screamed and jumped right back out. She didn't ask to ski again. It was also Hazel's first Boat ride, she slept right through it. We really enjoyed it and are hoping to get to go a lot this year.
Crazy Layla
Layla is into dancing. Whenever there is music she goes crazy and starts to dance. Most of the moves seen in this video are adaptations of clogging moves that Grandma Walker taught her. However, she has still yet to master the "gidee up... ah.. umm.. bapa..umm..bapa moww moww."
Hazel's soo big
This is a video of Hazel doing a little trick. She started it about a month ago. But has since stopped. We loved it while it lasted. We hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!

Layla's Horseride
Layla got to ride a horse for the first time over Easter. She absolutely loved it. We were riding the old, very tame horses. So they walked really slow and would trot a lot to catch up with the others. Layla thought it was the funnest thing ever. I'm sure after her ride, she wouldn't mind in the slightest if we had horses.

Easter In St George
We weren't able to be in St George during Easter and so we went down a couple weeks before. We had an Easter egg hunt and went swimming quite a bit. We also had a lot of fun on a hike through Red Cliffs Canyon. It was a really nice day when we went on the hike but the water was pretty cold. The kids got in upto their knees, but we saved all of our swimmng for Grandma and Grandpa Christinsen's pool. We had a lot of fun, and it was good to see family.
