Outdoors!

I am so glad that it's warming up and getting closer to summer!

I have a hard time being cooped up inside when it's so nice outside, so Shad and I have taken a lot of walks over the past couple weeks.

So now that I have the go ahead from my Doctor to work-out and get back to my normal activities, (and with a little help from my grandparents,) we decided to buy a used jogging stroller! (To hopefully help me get back in shape...)

One thing I love about this stroller is that it has an Ipod speaker system on the handle bars which is perfect for me, since I have a hard time jogging without music, and this way I can hear Shad, cars, etc while still listening!

The other nice thing is that Shad's car seat fits in it just right, which means he's facing me so I can see him, and I don't have to worry about him bobbing around in there unsupported, since I don't think it's meant for younger babies...

Also, the canopies on the car seat and stroller over lap so he's completely protected from the wind and sun!

Jeff's physical therapist has also given him the go on light bike riding, so we took Shad on his first bike ride a week or two ago. I carried him on my back so Jeff could focus on his knee. Shad enjoyed it on the way out, (well he slept...) but got fussy on the way back. I really hope he ends up liking bike rides though! I think he will once he's a little bigger...

We also have been grilling on our back patio lately. It's been so nice having the extra few hours of sunlight in the evening!

I've never had a favorite season; my favorite is usually whatever is next. And right now I definitely have Spring/Summer fever!

G & G's Money Hunt/ Spring Party

My grandparent's love throwing parties, and we as their grandkids, love enjoying their parties. :)
My grandpa has the tradition of his Money Hunt, which has replaced Easter Egg Hunts as we've gotten older. Instead of candy, he hides dollar amounts on paper inside the eggs, and then we cash in our eggs after the hunt.
Since we couldn't all get together around Easter time this year, they decided to throw more of Spring party this past weekend, but have cash prizes for all the games they planned. We played spoons, Bob-It, pick-the-paper-bag-up-with-your-mouth game, and then a door prize number draw.

Matt won spoons, Shae & Hailee tied for the paper bag game, I won bop-it, and Megan won the number draw. It was nice to have the prizes spread out well between everyone that was there!

Shad got to meet his cousin Ian for the first time!

We had a lot of fun, thanks Gramps and Grams for always planning fun parties!

Anniversary & Shad's 2nd Check-Up

Yesterday was our 3rd Anniversary!

Shad and I took a jog/walk in the morning, during which Jeff surprised me by getting off of work early! I came home to find his car in the garage, flowers and card on the table, dishes in the dishwasher, and him upstairs folding laundry. :) It was a wonderful surprise! And I loved having him home early!(I got him snickerdoodles and chocolate milk- something special from when we were dating)

After getting ready Jeff and I took Shad to his second check-up.

Shad took his first shots like a champ! He let out a good solid cry of surprise that sent me over the edge, but after I picked him up he melted the nurse with a big tear and perfect pouty face, and then fell soundly asleep in his car seat.

His 2 month stats were:

Weight: 11 lbs 10 oz (41st %)
Height: 24 1/4 inches long (96th %)
Head: 15.35 inches (53rd %)

After his appointment we went to Red Lobster to celebrate our Anniversary. I love their jumbo coconut shrimp! Hmmm...

Luckily Shad slept for a solid 6 hours after his appointment, so we were able to celebrate still.

After Red Lobster we went to Walmart to get a jar (as seen in the above picture.) We decided not to do gifts this year due to financial reasons, so Jeff came up with the idea of starting an Anniversary jar; In this jar we keep all our memorabilia throughout the year, such as ticket stubs, dinner receipts, pamphlets, etc. In this jar we also put extra money and spare change. On our next Anniversary we'll pull out the jar and spend time together going through the past year, and spending the money we've collected to celebrate. How awesome is that idea?! I loved it! Very creative and thoughtful. And we already have a dollar and Red Lobster receipt in it. :)

We spent the evening in comfy clothes watching a movie from the $5 bin at Walmart, and soothing little Shad. (He may have taken the shot like a champ and fallen asleep without Tylenol, but he was sore and had a rough evening, so we gave him some then.)

All in all we had a low-key but fun day. I love you hon, Happy Anniversary!

Two Months!

At 2 months Shad is:

Smiling a lot more; it's so stinkin cute!

Is cooing and making a lot more little noises, which are adorable. He also seems to coo back when we imitate all his sounds

He focuses on objects like our faces and follows us around the room, or watches our mouths as we talk to him

He knows who we are and recognizes and turns toward our voices when we're with a group of people

Started blowing bubbles which turns into drool, and has spit up a couple times- he was the cleanest baby till the past week or two! I guess it was inevitable... after all he is a little boy, with my genes... let the laundry begin!

He sometimes curls his head forward like he's trying to do a crunch and sit up, but doesn't get very far. And his neck is almost strong enough to spend time in his Bumbo!

He's very alert and curious about the world around him. When he's awake, he's always looking around and inspecting his surroundings

He shows a lot of expression- some of the faces he pulls are so hilarious

He is much less colicky! Hooray! For the most part we are able to soothe him when he's fussy, though we still have our rough days

He loves motion and really likes his swing, the car seat/ car, and strollers

When people see him they mostly comment on how strong and alert he is, and how much he looks like his Dad

He has his 2 month check up on Monday so even though I'm dreading it since he'll be getting his first set of shots, I'm excited to see his progression! And it's our Anniversary so Jeff is taking a half day to spend time with me... and be my moral support at Shad's appointment...
