My little/big 2 year old!

If you ask a certain little boy how old he is, he will tell you with fingers and words that he is TWO! And then flash that nose scrunched cutie smile of his.

We will be doing Phineas' meals, gifts and outing on Saturday. But I thought that I would take a couple pictures of him today because, well, HE'S TWO!

I seriously cannot express how awesome this kid is. He is helpful and loves cleaning up, loading/unloading the dishwasher and putting away laundry. He loves to dance and will gladly place a pile of books on the couch to sit down on Mommy or Daddy's lap and read as long as we're able. He gives the sweetest hugs and just learned how to say 'I love you' which he lights up with excitement when he says. He also has a lot of spunk. Plenty of it. And he loves the water. He did his last Parent+tot swim with me over the last couple of weeks (since turning 2 puts him in the higher level) and he is swimming along quite well with a swim aide; he's loving it.

All that to say. We love this little boy of ours. His snuggles, sweetness, helpfulness, spunky personality, love for music and drawing, his dancing, the sweet way he says 'Jesus' and points Him out in every picture, and just how absolutely awesome he is. Happy Birthday, Phineas. Looking forward to celebrating even more later this week! Love you!!!!

visit with grandma and grandpa part 4 (final)

Before my parents headed off for the airport, I wanted to make sure that I grabbed pictures of them with each of the kids. Jason had already left unfortunately, so I didn't get him in a picture. The kids opted for pictures out by the tree house. I kind of love how easily the kids warmed up to grandma and grandpa (even Phineas was chatting with them by the end!). And I thought it was pretty funny that they had all unintentionally coordinated themselves.  With everything in blue, purple, grey and white they all look pretty complimentary to everyone.

And, of course, Atticus stepped up to take a picture of me with my parents. Which my parents were pretty surprised that he can do (take pictures that is). Guess that happens when Atticus has a mom who is always taking pictures. Glad to have these pictures.

Visit from Grandma and Grandpa part3

We went to the lake, not once, but twice. When Grandpa asked Milayla and Atticus what they would like to do for the last day that Grandma and Grandpa were here the answer was unanimous that they wanted to head to the lake again. And the second time around Grandpa and Grandma had given them some noodles to take with them. They were in swimming heaven. I must not have applied enough sunscreen to myself though as I managed to walk away with a pretty nasty burn (even Jason got a bit which is pretty unheard of!) but the kids were covered well enough - thankfully! And no burns for them or grandma and grandpa for that matter.

There are a lot of lake pictures. I just can't narrow them down further. The kids loved it so much. Between building sand castles, making Atticus into a merman (which he was a really great spot about when I suggested I make him into one), splashing in the water, going for a paddle boat ride with grandma and grandpa, playing at the cool playground or going on the zipline (which all three kids did!), the kids were in summer days heaven. The random water fight/splashes seemed to give the kids a good laugh as well. After I got Jason with a bucket of water pretty spectacularly, a little boy nearby walked up to Jason to offer him a BIG bucket to repay the favour to me. That definitely got a lot of giggles and laughter.

And I am glad I snapped that photo of my parents in the paddle boat with the kids. The water wasn't quite up to grandma and grandpa's warmth standards so they supervised the sand castle building and my mom took lots and lots of pictures. Which they seemed to enjoy just fine, but that also meant they weren't in very many pictures which is unfortunate. So I think that paddle boat picture is going to be a pretty precious photo!
