The Caucus

The Colorado Haucus, I mean Caucus (Sienna keeps calling it a "haucus") was on Tuesday night. What is a caucus you ask? I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago. I've never been too politically minded. Sure I have some opinions, and I've always looked at the candidates and their views on a few issues that I feel to be important. And I've voted every chance I've had since turning 18 (12 years ago! Ahhhhh!). But this year, and at this crazy time for our country, I feel the pressure of just how important this Presidential election will be.

So Jeff and I headed to our caucus on Tuesday night, over at Arvada West High School (that was a trip in and of itself, walking through the halls of my old high school!). We found our Caucus meeting area and then found our precinct group. There were 28 people in our precinct. After electing precinct reps for some different things, we then did a paper vote. The results were as follows... McCain-1, Paul-3, Huckabee-7, and Romney-17. So since Romney won in our precinct, that means he got 1 delagate vote. Too bad that he just announced the suspention of his campaign today...does that mean our precincts delagate vote means nothing now?

Regardless of what happens next, it was pretty cool, and kind of fun even to be a part of something like this. I think this could quite possibly be a turning point in my life. In the future I think I may participate in even more political type stuff. If anyone reading this wants to give me a better idea of what that might be, that would be appreciated! Isn't it great that we live in a free country where we can have an influence on how it's run, and who runs it? America really is beautiful!
