Video - Dancing 1/30/09

The moment music plays Raylin starts dancing. Sometimes she even dances without music. I hope the clothes dancers wear, or lack thereof, improves before she gets older.

Video - Wheelbarrow 1/30/09

Jonathan thought it would be funny to see Raylin do the wheelbarrow. She was doing better before we got the camera out. I think she was getting tired. You get the idea though.

MLK Hike/Picnic 1/19/09

Jonathan had the day off, so we decided to go on a hike and have a picnic. We went to Superstition Mountain and took an easy trail. I wish we could hike more. It was nice to be out in the fresh air. Raylin loved it and of course Jonathan did too. He is always begging me to go hiking with him.

It was too hard trying to get all three of us in a picture, so here is Raylin and Jonathan...

and me and Raylin.

Then we were off to the park to meet up with Jodi and Lucy for a picnic. I wish the weather was always so nice. This is just the first of many numerous play dates at the park for these two. We are excited.

1st Ponytail 1/16/09

I didn't think she had enough hair yet, but I decided to try it out anyway. I thought it was so cute. At least now there are less people thinking she is a boy.

Random Pics 1/12,13,16/09

I am still behind. Here are some random pictures from January.

Playing with Daddy. She loves when he comes home because she knows that he is so much fun to play with. I have to leave the room most of the time. I get too scared.

I thought it would be funny to give her a big piece of banana and see what she did with it. It was pretty funny. She loves bananas!!

I am not sure when she started tilting her head to the side, but I think she knows that we think it is so adorable so she keeps doing it.

Here is another head to the side shot. With a smile this time.

X-rays, Results, Ultrasound, & MRI 12/4,5,15/08 & 1/5/09

When Raylin was first born I would rub her back to help her burp. I can remember being in the hospital and thinking that her spine wasn't strait. I would ask other people and they had no idea what I was talking about, so I decided that I was just being paranoid and making something out of nothing. Finally when she was 4 months old I decided to ask the doctor about it. He pushed and rubbed for a long time and then he told me to get an x-ray of her spine. We went out of town and then I kept putting it off. Two and a half months later I finally took her in. The next day the doctor called back with the results. I guess my motherly intuition was right. Raylin has scoliosis.

He referred me to a specialist and off we were to see him. Of course he didn't have a copy of the x-rays, so I had to pick them up. I should learn all of the spine language, but as of right now I don't know. In my own words he said that she has an extra bone in her spine. He sent us to get an ultrasound of her kidneys and an MRI of her spine to make sure nothing else went wrong during her development. The ultrasound went well. She was so good the tech brought her a big stuffed animal; Fox in Socks.

Since it was Christmas time we waited until after the holidays to do her MRI. We had to go to Phoenix Children's Hospital and not let her eat after 7 am because she was going to be put to sleep. I don't know any babies that can hold still long enough for an MRI, but it was still sad that they had to put her to sleep. Jonathan came with us to keep me company. When she was done they took us back to see her. She had just woken up and looked so helpless. It was sad. They had taken her earrings out and when they put them back in they were on too tight turning her ears bright red. It was difficult trying to fix them because she was starting to be so sad. I fed her and then drove home. She slept for 4 hours that afternoon.

Finally we got a message saying her results came back normal. I was never worried. Now we get to see the specialist for regular checkups to make sure it doesn't get worse. I asked what he could do for this type of problem. He said that there were two options. He could fuse the bones together so they could not get worse or he could do a more risky procedure and remove the bone. I don't think he will do anything until she gets bigger anyway. She is developing well and we don't notice her back being a problem, so we will just take it one day at a time. We are so blessed to have such a healthy and happy baby.

Sadly, this is the only picture I took from all of her appointments. It is right after her x-ray.
