Pushup Challenge

The Place: SLC--Krieger Home
The Time: Dec. 24th 2008 (pre-Christmas Eve dinner)
The What: The most serious pushup competition ever--nose the ground and back up again pushups--with Kurt Krieger as referee
The Who: Right now, just John and JJ, but entrants welcome and we are considering making it mandatory to receive Christmas gifts from us. We plan on a full Jones-Krieger-Canty-Adams competition.
The Stake: 1--Honor 2--Pride 3--Gift Certificate for the amount of pushups it takes to win the competition

So, JJ has already started training and we are going to have monthly updates until the competition. She almost did 3 today, so if you are competing you are probably already behind and better get moving.

Best of luck.

Cate is excited about all this even though her odds of winning are currently estimated at 1:4,869,732,541.

This is what I get to look at all day.

She's pretty tasty. And *2* months old today! Can you believe it? She is so sweet. At her appointment today she was 10 lbs. 5 oz. which is about 2 lbs. smaller than my other kids were, but still good. AND did you know they have a Rotovirus vaccine now? How great is that? Less diarrhea is always a good think in my book. The best part of the whole appointment was how Brooks was talking to the doctor! Hooray for Brooks!!!

Fun with Uncle Brian

Our Summer Vacation

We took a little road trip last weekend. It was our first one since March. If you know us, you know that we like to go every weekend, but it's been hard to leave this year with Lew's brutal schedule.

Tillie had a mohawk.

So did Brooks, but don't tell him because he hates it.

We had fun running and jumping off the dock.

And drying in the sun.

We enjoyed uncle Brian in his sweet speedo. ( I warned you)

We swam and swam.

And rode on the boat

And watched a movie when we were all worn out.

We had so much fun with Evy.

Even baby Cate (who is making this hard to type as she wiggles in my left arm)

Jackie and C had a rest

And then we tried tubing. Some went willingly.

Others didn't.

We took some group pictures

Then hit the road.

Thanks Jackie, Brian and Tillie for meeting up with us and for such a great time!

Sleepovers

When Lewis has to spend the night at the hospital I get lonely, but don't worry about me. There are plenty of friends to snuggle with!

School was "so cool!!!"

Phew, lucky for me school went really well for A. She said that no one else got walked into the classroom and that she had a blast. She even liked the lunch she bought! She made some friends and loved her teacher. Lewis got home right as we were leaving to pick her up (hooray for medical school) which I think just made her day. He never got to pick her up last year or go to any of her school things, hopefully this year will be better. Here are some pictures from dropping her off and picking her up.
First day of big kid school! She picked out her own outfit (would you have expected anything less?) and purple bows. I was just glad she let me brush her hair to be honest.

She also picked this pose, doesn't it look like she is walking?

Doing high fives in the car on the way to school.

Walking in--what was I thinking just letting her walk away like that? Please learn from my mistake people! Look at her, isn't it sad. Are you laughing now Jordan and Matt?!?!?!?!?!??

Ready to go home. "It was SO COOL, Mom! SO great!"

So we decided to go for sno-cones.

It was hard to decide, but Aiden chose bubble gum because it's pink.

And it was good.

Really good.

Brooks chose Rock N Roll because it's blue.

And it made his mouth look like this:

Mom of the year AGAIN

So this morning I went to drop Aiden off for her first day of school. Kindergarten. And it was like they always say, watching her walk into the school made me think that the next thing I know she'll be walking into her college dorm.
One of the papers they gave us at orientation last week was a list of instructions for carpool, the dropping off and picking up procedures. They specifically asked that parents not walk their children in or walk up to pick them up because it messes up the carpool line. Well, apparently that doesn't apply for the first day. Aiden was probably the only kindergartener who didn't get walked in on the first day! I watched kid after kid being walked in. But I had all three kids with me. And there was nowhere to park for at least 2 blocks. And they specifically said DO NOT WALK THEM IN. So I got in the carpool line.
I felt terrible as I dropped her off and she panicked.
"Do you remember how to get to your classroom Aiden?"
Panic stricken face. "no!" (really, we have only been to the school ONCE!!!!! What was I thinking?!?!?!!?!?!?)
She got out anyway, super brave Aiden, and I sat there watching as she walked up to the nearest adult and was led to her classroom.
I felt so bad!!!! I hope she isn't scarred for life. She could come home really hating me today. Also, she begged and begged to buy lunch (where did she come from, I hated the idea of buying lunch), so we'll see how that went. You can bet I'll be the first in line to pick her up when she gets done at 3. And then I'll let her pick out any treat she wants.

Bikes

We went and rode bikes this morning in a parking lot because it was only 40% humidity!! And in the 80's!!!!! (yes, I am using exclamation points on purpose, I really am that excited) What a difference the humididty makes, my glasses didn't even fog up when we walked outside. It was like we didn't live in a rainforest for a little while. While we were riding bikes we discovered Lewis' talent for the family circus: riding tiny bikes. Mom, you would be proud. Jackie, get practicing on those stilts.

Homemade Wipes

are easy and cheap!

2 T. baby oil
2T. baby wash
2 Cups warm water
1/2 select a size paper towels (cut in half using a serrated knife and then remove the cardboard in the middle)

Mix the baby oil, wash and water and pour over the paper towels in a container. Start pulling from the middle. If they start to smell musty, throw them away. (We go through them quickly enough that we don't have that problem!) Cutting paper towels gives me the heebie jeebies, but these wipes are GREAT!!!! Seriously, give them a try. Even if you don't have a baby, wipes are always a good thing to have around. Thanks to Chaliese and Dee for the recipe!

baby

Right before I had Cate Lewis had a patient who he really liked. The patient's wife made a quilt for Cate and this is the note she wrote in the card:
