The Wicked Un-Wedding

Sorry, Jamie, but I have to say it again: Last weekend was way more fun than a wedding would have been. For me, anyway. Nothing like a little family drama to bring up the need for a girls' trip. When Jamie's wedding was canceled a couple of weeks before the big day, we (the girls) decided we absolutely had to get her out of town for the wedding weekend. OK, we didn't technically have to, but "that's what makes [us] so nice!" :) We headed out to San Francisco on Thursday and had one of the funnest weekends ever.

"Look Mom, No ring!"
McKayla just had to add to the drama we were celebrating. She was very upset when I left, and I had to talk to her almost all the way to the airport. At one point this literally came out of her sweet little mouth: "But how am I supposed to have a normal life without you here?" complete with tears and sobs. She is drama. I assured her that she wouldn't have a normal life without me, but that she'd survive.

After settling in to our hotel, we explored a little and found the nearest Walgreens to stock up on bedtime snacks. How could we shop all day without loading up on calories before bed? Friday was the shopping day, Chinatown included.

The endless shopping could only be topped by dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.

And the dinner could only be topped by an amazing performance of Wicked.

Saturday was another full day at the Wharf. We took the trolley and then went on a catamaran ride around Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate Bridge (thanks, Mom!). It was cold but so worth it!

I wonder which moron....?

PIZZAAAAHHH!! (in honor of Tanner - a story for a different day)

We had a delicious lobster dinner at the Pier, followed by plenty more shopping. (Are you seeing a pattern here - eat, shop, eat, shop!)

We had to take a limo to the airport, just to cheer Jamie up (I'm sure you can see in all the pictures how sad she was :)) At least that's our story and we're sticking to it.

I'm ready to go again! Anyone ready to join me?

A Month (or two) in Review

Where did April and May go? Wow! So here we go, in no particular order (I'm actually only doing a catch up so that I can post about my girls' trip and not feel guilty :)):

  • Tayler turned 3. I have to admit, I'm enjoying this stage of no babies or pregnancy. He's such a fun kid. I adore him! We had a "friend" party at the fun center, and then a family brunch here on his birthday. He loved being the center of attention, something that he lacks being a 3rd child.
  • Kids' school and our neighborhood went on lock down while the police searched our neighborhood. It really seemed like a very scary, big deal at the time, looking out the window and watching police with AR's searching. I was a little nervous being home alone, but I felt prepared to defend my home and family if necessary. The police found the guy after a couple of hours and all was well. All in the day of a stay-at-home mom I guess.
  • Soccer took over our lives again. I loved coaching my girls, but I'm glad it's over. Kayla and Tanner were both great!
  • Easter came and went. It was full of Easter egg hunts, new suits, and the Easter Bunny, of course.

  • Day Out With Thomas: Tayler is in love with Thomas the Tank Engine, so naturally when my sister told me about the Day out With Thomas, we had to go. Tayler was in "Choo-Choo" heaven.
  • McKayla and her friend Kelsie decided to start their own little candy business for Mother's Day to make some money. They made these adorable chocolate flower pots and sold them around the neighborhood. Of course, Marlene and I did 90% of the work. Remind me to say no next time!
  • A trip to a farm to see the baby animals. So fun!
