Ballet Camp

Gramma Jackie gave Haylie a week long ballet camp for her birthday with a cute little ballerina leotard. She was IN HEAVEN! I don't think I've ever met a little girl more excited about anything! We of course had to get all glammed up, so she had some big, fluffy hair pretties in. This was on the second day of ballet camp. I told her, "Hay- do a ballet pose." There ya have it. As you can see, she has some cute little ballet slippers on her feet. The first day of ballet camp, she was like one of just a couple of little girls without ballet slippers and you better believe I heard about it all the way home. Luckily, Gramma Jackie is a sucker ;) and stopped and got her some the next morning so she could have some for the second day of camp.

In these two pictures, they were playing a game where they had to lay down and one little girl would go around the circle and touch all of the other little girls with a wand and then they would pop up all graceful-like (like a flower blooming). This is why Haylie looks a little silly in the first picture.... she was "mid-bloom." :D
All in all, a GREAT week! Gramma Jackie did good!

We now have about a week until kindergarten starts and I'm FREAKING out...

Telling Jokes?

This is sort of one of those "You had to be there..." moments. It's not that funny to hear when I tell it, or to read it for that matter, but I wanted to document it because Haylie has never told a joke before.

On the way back from the fair yesterday, Haylie broke the silence by saying, "OH MAN!" Joe and I both looked back at her, alarmed and asked her what was the matter. She got this concerned look on her face, clicked her tongue and said, "I forgot my headband." We asked her where, she sighed and said, "In the shopping cart." (We'd stopped at Walmart after the fair.)

I said, "Bummer Hay. Wait, no you didn't. There wasn't anything in the cart when we put it away."

So she said in a ho-hum voice, "Oh. Welllll I guess I left it at the fair then."
Joe said, "That's too bad Haylie."

A few minutes had passed when Haylie said, "Juuuuust kidding. I have it right here. Aaaah... ohhh man."

We laughed so hard at first and then we'd randomly start laughing all the way home. I don't think either Joe or I really expected her to come up with a joke, even as small as it was. It amazes me to think how the mind works in such a little girl. I think she's a lot smarter than I give her credit for.

Haylie's 5th Birthday!

Haylie had a wonderful 5th birthday and was, of course, spoiled rotten! She walked around all day long asking random people if they would get her a birthday present. Even her Sunday school teacher at church said Haylie said to her, "It would be alright if you got me some earrings for my birthday." I'm failing as a mother...

Of course, Connor had to have his own "Birthday sundae" but wasn't too happy with me when I made him hold still with whipped cream on his nose for a picture... ;)

Even Uncle Corry made it to the big celebration! The kids sure love him!

She got to go to Red Robin to celebrate her birthday, and absolutely LOVED it when the servers came out and sang to her!

Happy 5th Birthday my little Haylie. I can't believe you have been on this Earth for 5 whole years but I'm so glad you are!

Haylie!

My baby turned 5!!! yesterday!

Pictures to come! :)

peace

Oh how I love this. I love the way she puts her hands above her head when she's sleeping. And how her little legs are so relaxed that the sides of her knees touch the mattress. It's how I know she's in a deep sleep. So at peace. I will miss this.
