It's a girl!

We found out last week that we are going be having a girl in May. Tyler is going to be a great big brother. He loves to help me around the house so I think he'll be my big helper. I am really excited to have one of each.

Everything is looking great this time around. We've had 3 ultrasounds and everything is going very smoothly. I had a miscarriage in June so I have been a little more nervous with everything this time. I don't want to go through that again. I always knew it would be hard emotionally, but I had a much more difficult time with the physical side of it. I guess I never really thought of what other women went through, but I know now. After a failed D&C and then going through induced labor a few days later, that is nothing I would ever wish on anyone else.

It really makes me appreciate everything so much more this time. You're all going to think I'm crazy, but I'm happy now that my jeans are getting a little tight and the scale is going up. :) It reassures me that everything is going as it should and she's growing. I'll keep you all posted as time goes on.

9 Stitches

On Thursday night, Tyler was in the bath and playing with a porcelain mug. We've used it to wash his hair for the past year or so and he always plays with it. Well, this night he dropped it and it hit the side of the tub, shattering it in two. On the way down, a sharp edge hit his thigh and really gashed him. We rushed him to the doctor and he got 9 stitches. They have a gel now that numbs the area so they don't have to get a shot. But that didn't work. As they started to stitch him up, he was obviously in some serious pain. He ended up getting the shot anyway. Once that kicked in, he said, "Watch Nemo!" He was pretty brave. But what's so funny is that he cannot even look at it now. It always needs to be covered up and he won't let us see it. He starts to cry as soon as he sees it. We've discovered early that we don't have a doctor in the making. :)

Halloween

I remember when I was growing up that we really only celebrated Halloween on October 31st. Now it seems to be a month long holiday! We had several parties throughout the month.

The Saturday before Halloween, we went to the Cottonwood CC where there are a ton of activities for the little kids and good food! There are games, pumpkin carving, bobbing for apples, and Ty's favorite - the inflatable slide and those "moon walk" things where you can jump. Thanks mom and dad for taking us again this year.

We couldn't get Ty to stop jumping and let others take a turn.

I think he was a little scared the first time he went down... but

You can now see his reaction. The second he was down, he got right back in line to go again. At the end of the day when they deflated it, he said, "Slide fell down. Back up Mommy."

Then on Wednesday we had a Murder Mystery party at Cortney's house. We had such a great time! Thanks Cort and Jamie for putting this together. It was a ton of work but well worth it. We definitely need to do it again next year.

The theme was Deadwood Saloon.

On Friday we went to my company's Trunk or Treat. Here's a picture they took of us there.

And then... Halloween night.
For as long as I can remember, we have always gone to my aunt's house on Halloween night for delicious soup and a fun time. There are a lot of people there and there is so much good stuff to eat. My uncle and a bunch of the cousins create a spook alley in their garage and it's a huge neighborhood attraction. They go all out every year.

This is Tyler and his 2nd cousin Riley. They are only about 3 weeks apart. They trick or treated most of the night together. When Ty went to the first door, he was a little unsure until he got some candy. He yelled, "More candy!" and ran to the next door. He ran the whole night from door to door. And he couldn't really say trick or treat, it sounded more like "dootie treat".

Another funny story I have to share. We recently got some cabinets installed for a wet bar in our basement. We haven't gotten the countertops in yet. Well, Ty claimed it as "Ty's den". Chopper has a kennel that we call his den, so this is now Ty's den. The funny thing is that one day I went down to do laundry and found that he had set up things around his den - like his own little house! I was laughing hysterically. I never even saw him do this. On one side he has a bouncy ball, in the middle is a half eaten saltine cracker, and on the other side is a dryer sheet!
I ran upstairs to grab my camera and when I went to take the picture, another surprise. He had taken Joel's hat and hung it on the water pipe!

September Update

I haven't posted much lately, so here's what we've done in September.
Tyler at Rachel's blessing. He played with this rake for about an hour.
We were at Home Depot one day and Tyler happened to take his fire truck in with us. While we were in there, a group of firefighters were walking out in front of us. Tyler started making his fire engine siren and they all turned around and laughed. They saw his fire truck in his hand and asked him if he wanted to see their big fire truck. It was hilarious.

Ty and Mitchy at the zoo.

Ruby and Tyler. I think they look so much alike.

I changed Tyler's diaper and went to wash my hands. When I came back this is what I saw.

Cabin

We made a couple trips our cabin in September. We love it there. It is so peaceful and beautiful. The leaves are beginning to change color now.

Going for our daily walks.

Tyler loves blowing bubbles.

Hiking on the rocks on the river.

August Campout

For the past 2 years we've gone to WY for a campout with the Moultrie family. We had another fun year, as usual. Thanks Cody for the campsite!

The 3 boys, Morgan, Jack and Tyler, had a great time together. They hiked all over the campsite together hunting for monsters.
