Lately Brinley has gotten to the point where she will pull the blinds down and look out the window. We noticed this the other night when we came home and she was supposed to be sleeping. The babysitter had put her to bed but obviously she was not sleeping. When we walked in the door she was crying pretty hard. I guess she saw us outside and started crying.
Tonight we put her to bed and went out front to play some badminton with Bryce. Again she was not happy. She was crying her eyes out. I am sure she was saying, "I want to play. I can do better than that! You are not even trying to win. Please..... give me a chance. I thought we were all equal opportunity these days. Are you not letting me play because I am a girl?" After that monologue she just cried her head off. We couldn't stand the sad cry anymore..... so ..... we went in the back yard to continue playing. Bryce was pretty good and has lately found a new love for tennis and badminton. I wonder what other sports he will pick up next. Misty really likes this game also. Here she is being dramatic, but I think she won the point (or should have for that face she pulled).
Bryce really loves to color and draw. You can tell what he likes by what he is drawing. Today he decided to draw Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi fighting Darth Maul and the Emperor.
Bryces loves Saturdays! He will always ask me if I am going to work tomorrow (that is how he tells if tomorrow will be Saturday). He will get really excited when I tell him that I am not going to work. He wants to dress just like me.
This morning, after I was dressed, he came into the front room and told me that he didn't have a shirt like the one I was wearing. I told him he could pick out a shirt for me today. Of course, he found one that was just like his. We dressed exactly alike yesterday and Sunday we will probably wear the exact same tie.
Bryce turned 5 years old on July 20. He is so happy to be 5 because he can do a lot of things that a 4 year old cannot do. Misty put together a great birthday party for Bryce. He wanted a Star Wars party and a Star Wars party is exactly what he got.
Bryce wanted to practice his "Jedi moves" before the party started.
Misty worked hard getting ready for the party. We had the party in our backyard. Even though we were in the shade the entire party, it was still over 100 degrees.
The younglings loved the costumes that Misty had for all of them. This is a picture of the younglings with the Death Star, Millenium Falcon, and an X-wing fighter. (R2-D-2 is on the back)
Jedi Ranks: Members of the order progress through four to six tiers of rank, at times referred to as levels.
Jedi Youngling/Initiate
Jedi Padawan
Jedi Knight
Jedi Master
Jedi Council Member
Jedi Grand Master
Flight training was first. The younglings took turns racing the spaceships back and forth to the Death Star. Of course, the Millenium Falcon won. With their flight training behind them, they have now advanced to be Jedi Padawans. Will the padawans obey orders? Our next trainings will test them.
The padawans then played "Vader and Yoda" (red light green light). Some of the padawans did not understand the game, but they soon caught on and obeyed orders.
Another test of obedience was a fun game was "Yoda Says" (Simon Says)
Now that the young padawans have proven they are worthy of the Jedi rank, they took on the death star. After everyone had a couple of turns at destroying the death star, it finally exploded and candy was showered all over the universe.
The kids all had fun and filled up on cupcakes and ice cream. Misty even made little lightsabers and big lightsabers (pretzels dipped in blue, green, and red chocolate) for the jedis. Bryce loved his party, but for him to advance to become a Jedi Master he needs to train a Padawan Learner. Any volunteers.....?
