Lightsaber

Bryce is learning the art of earning money. When he does a chore he gets $.33. Usually at the end of the week he gets paid for the work that he has done. There are times where he does not turn in his time sheet, so it could be up to two weeks before he gets paid. He gets paid in cash and he loves to add up the bills and see which President is on the bill. He is getting pretty good at his math and at his money management skills.

We usually ask Bryce what he wants to buy with his money. He usually has something in mind and will save his money until he buys the item. Recently it has been a Mace Windu Lightsaber.

Sometimes in the store he will see a Star Wars action figure or something that seems real "cool". He immediately wants to buy the item. We ask him if he is sure he wants to buy it and then remind him of his Mace Windu Lightsaber. Since the money is his, it is his choice and he can buy what ever he wants. Almost always he immediately puts the item back and continues looking at "cool" items, but with no interest in buying.

Bryce is really good to pay his tithing. When he gets paid he takes his money and separates the tithing. The next Sunday he will take his tithing to church and pay it all by himself. At first he was pretty embarrassed and wanted me right next to him, but now he will go up on the stand and pay it all by himself. I thought he would resent paying tithing especially when he is saving his money to buy a toy, however he loves paying his tithing.

At different stores Bryce has seen the Mace Windu Lightsaber for $35. Bryce has been saving up and has $30. He was getting pretty antsy and could not wait until he had enough money. We told him that there were some chores he could do to earn more money. Bryce cleaned the toilets and was looking for more things to do. (Don't feel too bad for Bryce cleaning the toilets. That is one of his favorites jobs!!)

Yesterday Misty went to Wal-Mart and I stayed with Bryce at home. When Misty came home she had purchased the Lightsaber for Bryce (Bryce paid her with his money before he could play with it). Wal-Mart had a Rollback price on the Mace Windu Lightsaber for $15!! Bryce was so excited.

Today our sacrament meeting was about tithing. After church Bryce and I talked about tithing and how he pays his tithing. We also talked about the blessings of tithing. Bryce realized that he has already received the blessings of tithing. First of a million.
