Our Second Honeymoon

Bob and I just got back from a trip to tropical paradise- Oahu, Hawaii. Now, don't get me wrong. We didn't win the lottery- things just really worked out, making the trip even imaginable. Our dear friends Karla and Ben Wardell have been living there for a few months and invited us to visit. We were so blessed to be able to stay with them. They showed around and made us delicious home cooked meals. Mellissa got us good deals on plane tickets, and my parents were able to watch the boys.
Hawaii is everything we ever imagined! The water is so blue, the sand so soft, and the snorkeling and bodyboarding is amazing! Bob and I felt like we were on our second honeymoon.

Our First Broken Bone

On Tuesday, I got a phone call from the school informing me that Ethan had broken his arm! The poor little guy had jumped off the twisty slide. He jumped near the bottom, but when he landed his elbow was bent back the other way and he had to flip it back in the right direction. Yikes! It still gives me chills to think about it.

After looking at x-rays, we found out he broke his arm just above the elbow. The hospital transferred us to Children's Hospital. He and I spent the night there. The following day he underwent surgery around 1:00 pm to insert 3 pins into the bone. He was so brave throughout the whole ordeal- he didn't cry once! He wanted a red cast- he can't wait for his friends to sign it.

To be honest, this was quite an emotionally/physically draining experience for Bob and me. We're so grateful my parents live near so they could take care of the other boys. We're also sooo grateful for your prayers! We felt such comfort, knowing it would be OK. I know Ethan felt comfort also.

The nurses were all suprised that this is our first broken bone in the Johnson clan, since we have 3 boys- let's just hope and pray there aren't many more to follow!

Don't Look Down!

I know this

picture is totally out of order, but I wanted to include our trip to Royal Gorge. Funny, we've lived in Colorado for almost 8 years and haven't seen all of the beautiful wonders of this state. (If you haven't been here, you need to come for a visit! You'll love the mountains!) To be honest, I don't know how we came up with enough courage to walk the bridge over the Royal Gorge and ride the tram! All you have to do is look down between the wooden planks and see the river thousands of feet below you- it look like a piece of thread! The boys were so brave and we display a magnet on our fridge that proudly declares "I made it across the Royal Gorge on the Aerial Tram."

A Rootin' Tootin' Time in Rapid City

Here's my first attempt at our family blog- our family trip to Rapid City, SD. We were quite the crew- the 5 of us, my sister, Megan, Bob's sister, Mellissa, and my parents! We pulled the camper and stayed in a nice KOA in Rapid City- it even had a pool and a cowboy that made pancakes into any shape we wanted to for breakfast!
We stayed for a couple of days and got to visit Reptile Gardens, Bear Country, Mt. Rushmore, Sylvan Lake and even Mt. Rushmore caves.
We had so much fun spending time together!

After looking over all of my friends' blogs, I decided to join them! Here I am, computer illiterate, married to a computer whiz- funny how opposites attract!
