New faces and places

Well, I guess I should say "new" to Lindsey. For Father's Day weekend (June 19-22), we went to Katy to visit Mimi and Pa. We left Friday evening, and Steve took Monday off so that we could have a nice long weekend trip! Lindsey did MUCH better in the car than I thought she would. (Of course I had to sit next to her in the back and entertain her) She fussed for the last 20 minutes or so, but was otherwise fairly content. Not bad for her first trip! Great-Grandma and Grandpa Jones and my Uncle Doug came over for lunch on Saturday and met Lindsey. Saturday night, Steve and I went out to eat to celebrate our 11th anniversary (a week late), and then we drove around Katy, cruised Katy Mills Mall, and went to Baskin Robbins for an ice cream. Sunday, we went to see Up with Jared, Lauren, and Pa while Mimi babysat Lindsey. Very cute movie! Monday we made a quick trip to Costco, and then headed home around 3pm.

Last Sunday (June 28th), Uncle Matt brought Kenzie and Taylor for a visit. The kids swam and played all day. We ate lunch and dinner together, and had a nice time! Summer is flying by. Where did June go?

Lindsey Gets a Thumbs Up!

Lindsey had her 2 month check-up today. She is now 12 lbs. 10 oz., and 23 1/2 inches long. (Around 85th percentile for weight and 88th for height- is what I think he said) Poor thing got 5 shots and one oral medication, but calmed down pretty quickly afterwards. Her usual routine these days is to go to bed for the night between 9:15 and 10:30 pm, wake up for a feeding from 3-4:30am, and then wake up again around 7 am. She has slept from 10:30 pm-5:30 am twice so far, which I am counting as "through the night". I'm not complaining! She goes down pretty easily in her crib in her own room at night. She will find her thumb and wiggle around until she dozes off. She usually eats a total of 6 times in 24 hrs and is happy after she eats until she gets tired. She will coo and smile at you and look at you with those big blue eyes. Then, she sleeps in my arms, in the swing, the sling, or sometimes in her carseat. Rarely has she taken her daytime nap in the crib. Hopefully that will change soon. She likes to be on the go- thank goodness because I don't think she is going to have a choice! She can roll over from her tummy to her back and hold her head up pretty well. She has also taken to sucking her thumb (it is really cute, but I probably won't think so in a few years). She will tolerate the pacifier sometimes to drift off to sleep, but when she doesn't want it, it really makes her mad! She enjoys the sling and being outside, but does not enjoy the car very much. She did pretty well last weekend when we went to Temple, but the real test will be this weekend when we drive to Houston!

New Addition

We've got another new addition...to the backyard. After a couple of weeks of preparation: removing grass, putting down weed cloth, leveling sand, and a tarp- water was added last night. It took about 9 or 10 hours to get it filled! We're finally ready for summer! (Of course, Steve still plans to add gravel and get rid of more grass around the pool to make it look even more fabulous. I'll add a finished product picture later.)

School's Out!

So, the school year is coming to an end, and we have been super busy with all kinds of activities! Jared had his cub scout graduation, and is now a Webelo! Aunt Laura, Micah, and Cole came for a visit on Saturday, May 16th. Jared's class took a field trip to InnerSpace Cavern on the 19th. Lauren had her t-ball party at Poage park and Jared had his Track Day at the high school field on May 22nd. Jared was very excited that he got to run the anchor leg of the 400M class relay race, and they came in first (second overall).

We are also very proud of his academic accomplishments this year! He earned almost 300 AR points, and got to be "librarian for the day"! He also made a 100% on BOTH the math and reading TAKS test, and was accepted into the gifted and talented program! Way to go, Jared!!

Grandma Julie came for a visit on May 24th and got to see Jared's last two baseball games and attend the team party at Double Dave's!

Lauren had her last day of school and party on
the 27th. They had a pinata, did some relay races, and made a cute snack- an ice cream cone clown! The last weekend in May, Steve took Grandma Julie to Uncle Matt's and then took Jared and Lauren on a "Welcome to Webelos" campout in Fairfield. Lindsey and I stayed home and she started sleeping in her own room on the 31st! It's June already!! Jared's school had an End of Year Celebration (which I was in charge of) on June 2nd. We had inflatables and sno-cones for the kids. Lindsey and Lauren spent all day up at the school with me, and did GREAT! I wore Lindsey in her sling, and she slept almost the entire day! She is now grabbing things, smiling a lot and laughing a little, pushing up, rolling over, and trying to suck her thumb. Her record so far was June 1st, where she slept 7 hours straight from 10:35pm to 5:30am! We have even graduated to size 2 diapers! PHEW! I think that covers it all. Our latest project is setting up an above ground pool in the backyard. I can't wait to jump in! Happy Summer!!
