Mothers' Day 2012

Had like 5 minutes to do these pictures.  Claire was sick but we forced her to try and smile (OK, so at least we didn't realize she had a fever until we were almost to the photo-taking site) because we're mean ogres, and Anya was, well...Anya.  Not good combo.  But here's what Jordan got.   Some is out of focus because of the aforementioned issues but also due to a weird thing with his lense that I will never understand fully.

The forced smile.  Still a cutie...

This is how Claire REALLY felt about the shoot.

Totally out of focus, but oh well!!  There's always next year...

At The Park

Anya... she likes to make me CRAZY with fear.  She has started to climb up the tall ladder-side of the jungle gym thing at the park.  She is a nut.

Love this outfit on my little Claire.

Future model?  Marshall, eat your heart out!!  (Marshall is a little neighbor boy that Claire thinks she's going to marry.  He hardly cares, but hey, he will one day, since she'll be a hottie.... but NO dating til you're 25!!)

What an Anya face.  Seriously.  The mischief is undeniable.

Just love my girls!

Outside.

With her camera :)  She loves it.

 Future photographer??

 Anya running away, as usual...

Love my girls in their red wagon...

A Few of My Favorite Things

So, this week, I was asked to sing that song from Sound of Music, "My Favorite Things."  They asked me like a week before.  It would've been fun to put an ensemble together (and less scary) but it ended up being more scary thinking about the practicing with others to pull it off, figuring out harmonies, etc. so I just sang it myself.

Then I looked at the words.  What the freak is "schnitzel with noodles?" I ask myself.  And really, "wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings" may be a pretty sight, but it's definitely not my favorite.  So, because I'm super dorky, I came up with a second verse.  Mind you, this was for the Relief Society Activity (the birthday one), so I made it R.S. appropriate and wrote a few things that would get a few laughs from all...

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

Coconut cupcakes and anything chocolate
Husband that cleans and keeps crafts in the budget
Relief Society Presidency
These are a few of my favorite things

Family Home Evening and scriptures on Monday
Baby that turns 18 months on this Sunday
Making a meal for a sister in need
These are a few of my favorite things

Neighbors and sisters and friends that just stop in
Babies with humongous bows on their noggins
Kids that are tied to my apron strings
These are a few of my favorite things

When I can’t get onto Pinterest
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

So now my posterity can see how dorky I am.  But there were a few laughs, and it made it worth it :)  Besides that, I also witnessed a mini miracle in my life...seriously.  The activity was held on Wednesday night. Tuesday night I started to feel a sore throat coming on.  Then Wednesday morning it was a sore throat and a massive headache.  I took ibuprofen and prayed really hard because I knew I had to sing that night and a sore throat wouldn't exactly facilitate the process.  Oddly enough, the sore throat went away by mid-morning.

Chalking it up to just a cold/sore throat, I went to the activity and sang, etc.  That night, I got the sore throat again, and it did NOT leave this time, and the next morning I scheduled a dr's appt.  Yep, it was strep.  I'm pretty sure that prayer made a difference because the sore throat doesn't just go away like that.  Antibiotics I started yesterday morning take it away :)

Now Claire has an ear infection. Poor thing.  Quite a week!  Glad Anya hasn't come down with anything. Crossing my fingers!!  And I hope I didn't infect anyone at Relief Society!!

I Live On the Winter Side...

Is this CRAZY or WHAT????

I am the BEST Driver EVER.

I kinda thought it was the road.

Valentine's Day 2012

The actual Valentine's Day was very uneventful since Jordan had to work all day and night and go to school etc. etc. I know...wo is me.  But anyway, it was pretty fun for the kids and we managed to have a good time after the actual day!

Here we are at the most stressful play group of the year ;)  Usually (every Monday) we moms just sit there while our kids (hopefully) run around or ride around and play.  This time we had card making, cookie decorating, and all kinds of things for THIS ONE BELOW to get into :)

The little monkey.  Mommy made her that shirt, of course :)

Claire is sitting next to Ella, her idol :)

OK, then we ended up deciding to do a couples "thing" for Valentine's Day.  It started with my friend Jen and I talking about how we should make a "gourmet meal" for our husbands for the day.  It didn't end like that :) Then it grew to some of our other friends. It was so fun, we'll have to make it a yearly event, of course!

Um, all we had to take pictures was Natalie's iPhone.  Yeah.  so they're AWESOME...

Rachy and Homeless Man...I mean, Jonny.

Jordan and me.  Yeah we went to the dollar store to get those snazzy headbands.  You can't tell from the picture (um you can't tell a lot in these pictures, actually...) but mine says "Kiss Me" on each heart...or "hearttenna!"  I kill me. I'm so funny.  The boys were worried we'd wear those bad boys to the movie afterward.  We went to see that Reese Witherspoon movie, "This Means War."  It was naughty but funny too... not tooo naughty but a little :)

Matt couldn't NOT make dorky faces at the camera all night pretty much.

 Awwww....the sweetness...

Woah, you guys are dorks.  Seriously.  That's why it was a cheesy Valentine's Dinner.  It's all about the cheese.  PS.  I'll be missing Rachy and Jonny sooooo much.  They are moving :(

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
