Juice and Jam!

So, from picking grapes to cooking grapes!!  This is what my Saturday looked like.  I was making the juice ready for Monday to bottle it.  It was pretty interesting.

This is a good close up picture of the grapes being "sieved" through a cheese cloth.  The juice drains through and the skins and seeds stay on the cloth.

This is the fruit of my labors.  My friend Becky came over and helped me make the jam today.  I didn't want jelly, so it was a different process all together, but I think 2 dozen jars later it turned out well!!  I also got the juice processed and bottled.  It tastes pretty good!!  Wednesday I am picking Raspberries, so Thursday is raspberry jam day!!  I am pretty excited!

Picking Grapes

We were very excited the other day when I found on Craigslist a posting for U-pick Grapes for .20 a pound!!  So, we planned it out and on the first day that it opened, and probably the first hour, we were the first people at this vineyard to pick grapes!  It was very very cool!!  We had a lot of fun and the kids loved it also!  We ended up with 48lbs of grapes!!  All for less than ten dollars.  I now get to make grape jam and juice.  Should be another adventure.  We had a great morning!

Here is a video of how the process was working for us!!  Brayden is pretty cute!

Right after we got done with grapes we dropped of Josh at school and the kids and I went to the "play group" that the RS sisters have.  It was at a place called Sapsucker woods.  It is a bird lab.  We walked along a trail looking for birds and other animals.  The kids had fun, and it was good to mingle with other members here.

Brayden in a "real" bed

Last wednesday Brayden got a "real" big boy bed.  I was very worried that my stubborn free spirited boy would have a problem staying in this bed.  He did not.  I was so proud of him!!  He has slept in it ever since and we didn't even have to put him back into the playpen to sleep at all!  He cry's to get down, but doesn't and eventually falls asleep.  He does fall out of bed about once a night, but it is really funny because he doesn't even really notice.  When we hear him fall Josh goes up to help him, and he is still mostly asleep on the floor.  He doesn't really wake up!  It is pretty cute.  He sleeps better than he has been and he sleeps longer in the morning.  We got this bed for free and couldn't believe our good luck on the quality of it.  It is a fabulous bed for our little one.  Who is now bigger than I want him to be.

This is Evan's bed.  He loves his bed also.  Because Brayden got a new bed we gave him the car sheets and I let Evan pick out new sheets for himself.  He picked Thomas the Train.  He is very happy about the whole thing also.  They are such good boys!!  I love them very, very, much!!

Puzzle

This is what I did Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.  It is a 700 piece puzzle.  It was a lot of fun.  I did most of it while the kids were sleeping!!  That's the only way it can really be done! :)

Finished Chicken Coop!

Josh did such a GREAT job on this chicken coop!  The chickens are really lucky to have such a fabulous home.  Hopefully they love it!  Once they spent there first night in it they adjusted really well.  We often find them in the coop rather than outside.  They are growing really fast also.  Everyday I really can't believe how big they have gotten!!  We really love having chickens!!
