Happy Halloween!

My family carved pumpkins on Sunday and I am just now getting around to posting the pictures. The pumpkins were really creative this year!

Hope you all have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Mr Potato Head and his bucket of pumpkin parts!

JP and I went and picked out pumpkins last night. The brakes on JP's car have been squeaking for awhile and so he fixed them the other day. Well unfortunately they were not fixed. So as we are driving to the store the brakes would squeak whenever you applied pressure. We got to the store and started looking. After much thought we picked out two and headed inside to pay. I needed to pick up some women products so I start looking for them. Next thing I know JP is singing along to the music while I get my stuff. I ask him if we needed anything else. "No." He replies. "Just my tampax and you got those." Thanks for your humor!? So we pay and leave. JP was determined to figure out what brake was squeaking so on the way home he drove with the window down and his head hanging out of it. I mention that it is cold to which he replied we are almost home. Again thanks for your thoughtfulness! Upon returning home we assembled our pumpkins. For those of you who are now confused, I did not say carve I said assemble. See JP found me Mr. Potato Head parts for pumpkins! We got two, a witch and monster. This is why it took us awhile to pick out the pumpkins because we wanted the perfect one for Mr. Potato Head. And by perfect it didn't have to be perfect shaped or color, in fact it didn't really need to stand up by itself. It had to be perfect for the parts to fit, and they did!

Random thought of the day: What happens to all the pumpkins that aren't bought? JP says they make them into pies, cookies, etc. I thought they used canned pumpkin for those things.

It's that time of year

It is that time of year when......
*I get a "new" wardrobe. By "new" I mean I put my short sleeve shirts away and get out my long sleeved shirts and all my sweaters. Instant new wardrobe!
*I (actually JP) turns on the heater and the first time we do the house smells so bad!

*I have to fight Molly for the place right in front of the fire place, and if I get it I can't leave otherwise I am having to move her when I come back.
*I remember how much I really don't like being cold!
*I get out my tea kettle for hot chocolate and cider (it does not always whistle though so I can't go far or I forget about it)
*I put my electric blanket on the bed, oh wait ours died last year and believe me I cried!!
*I have to scrap my windows in the morning. :( One day I may actually make it back into the garage. One can hope right!?
*I get to eat all the acorn, banana, and butternut squash I want!!! YUM!
*I reflect back on the year and all the things that happened.
*I spend time with my family over the holidays and we laugh and talk about things that have happened. (It's the remember when game!)
*I get out my Christmas music and play it all day long.
*I think of all the things that I am blessed with and thank Heavenly Father for them.
*I remember the birth of Jesus Christ and how thankful I am for him and all that he did!

Random thoughts of the day: I LOVE waffles but not so much pancakes. I think this is weird because you use the same mix for both. (I have never claimed to be "normal"!)

What causes your muscles to spasm? Last night my left calf was going crazy and I stretched it out and everything to try to get rid of it but nothing helped.

Did you know that if you are printing something your computer can tell the printer to turn on? Isn't technology great!? (It is if you know how to use it!?!)

Dog massages, chicken noodle soup and shaving

I know, how long can this title be! Since I have not posted for a couple of days there are many things I want to tell you about.
First the dog massages. Actuality the massage was done by my wonderful step mother-in-law. She is a very good masseuse! My shoulder has been hurting so I went over to have her help it feel better. She did a seated massage and the dogs did not want to be left out. They would follow Jen around and then sit right where she was going next. Molly and Bailey would also come and lick me. She also gave a massage to JP and while he was getting his massage Molly wanted to make sure he knew she was there. So she jumped up and was licking his face. It was so cute!

Second the Chicken Noodle Soup. I made chicken noodle soup from scratch last night, for the first time ever. It tasted really good, if I can say so myself. Molly tried to help me numerous times but was always told to leave the kitchen. Bailey sat right at the edge of the counter. He knows how far is enough and then does not go any farther away. He hopes that something will drop on the floor for him. Nothing drops but he still hopes! I cut the noodles with a pizza cutter so it was really easy. I did not have a rolling pin so I used a glass to roll out the dough. I cut the noodles into small squares because I wanted them to be smaller. All in all it was edible and good. I will definitely cook this again.

Last but not least, shaving. Now I have been shaving my legs for a long time. I always use shaving cream or left over conditioner and I change my razor often. Well Sunday morning I shaved my legs. As I was getting dressed I felt something on my ankle. I looked down and saw this....

I cut my ankle and it bled and bled. Luckily it did not hurt. I was so mad! How long have I been shaving my legs? I had to put a band aid on it because it would not stop bleeding.

So there is your update and sorry about the bloody picture.

Random thoughts of the day: (I know I usually do just one but I had two today)

Why do knicks from shaving bleed FOREVER?

How can birds sit on telephone wires without falling off?

My bedut as a U of U cheerleader

My sisters and I performed in the University of Utah half time show today. I originally got the form so Whitney and her friends could do it but instead she roped Kim, Court and I into it. Yesterday we had a practice for about three hours to get ready. When we first showed up for the practice Kim and Whit wanted to just get the t-shirt and leave but I would not let them. The longer we sat there the more I thought they had the right idea. The average age of the girls was about 13, making me double the age of them! Once we started practicing it got better and by the time we left we were excited to perform. We got tickets to the game for being in the show. My mom and Tanner also got tickets and Jess and my dad sat in my parents seats. My mom and Tanner sat by us girls. We actually got a nice breeze all game so that helped. We sat at the VERY top of the stadium. I could watch airplanes take off at the airport. All in all the performance wasn't too bad. Well actually I kind of stunk but so did just about every other girl. When they announced us, they said the ages of the girls was from 5 to 17. Try adding almost ten years to that and you had me. On the application my mom did say I was 20 because she didn't know if there was a age limit. If you were not at the game, you missed out on a great half time show! My mom took pictures and as soon as I get them I will post some.

Random thought of the day: Why do people wait in line forever and then pay lots of money to get scared at a haunted house? Why don't they just watch the news or read a newspaper to see how the economy is doing?! That scares the crap out of me!!!

Baking with my sisters

Kimberly and Whitney came over today to make Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies. We had fun talking and I watched as Kim and Whit did pretty much everything. They even helped me clean up. JP came home and we went to lunch. JP tried a cookie while he was here and he thought they were OK, which I thought they were really good. While we were at lunch us girls were talking about the cookies and Kim asked JP if he liked them. He said they were different then usual. We (the girls) thought they were good and asked why he didn't like the pumpkin cookies. He got this look on his face and said they weren't banana cookies. After he knew they were pumpkin cookies he really liked them. No wonder he thought they were weird because when you are thinking banana and you eat pumpkin they are different things. Molly and Bailey were stuck outside while we made the cookies, hence the picture of them sitting on the back step.

Random thought of the day: Why does Molly insist on barking at me if I don't always acknowledge her?

EVACUATE!

I have never smelled anything worse then....dog fart. It is so nasty you really do have to EVACUATE because otherwise you would pass out. It seems that just when I am comfortable and about to fall asleep the dogs fart. Last night is was so bad! They kept farting. Usually they just fart once but man it was so bad. Because it was so bad I could not fall asleep. The worst part is you can't hear the dogs fart, they are silent but VERY deadly! It is a good thing they are so cute! And because I forgot my random thought the other day, here are two for you...

Random thoughts of today and yesterday: Why does the oxy-clean spokes person Billy Mayz insist on yelling at you?
Why do people say someone was laid off instead of fired?

I LOVE MY FAMILY!!!!!!!

i was going to title this 'first snow', or 'first Sunday as the secretary', or 'you're grounded.' But after having dinner at my parents I decided to call it I LOVE MY FAMILY. JP and I eat dinner at my parents almost every Sunday. Sometimes it gets very entertaining and today was one of those times. We finished eating dinner and we were hanging out in the family room. We sang happy birthday to Kim and my dad was trying to find his camera. He could not find it and my mom said it was in her purse. My dad then told us that he thinks he has Alzheimer's sometimes because things are never where he puts them. Whitney informed him that he does not have Alzheimer's he is just married! I thought this was pretty funny and things just went from there. I also learned that over cooked cauliflower gives you gas. Did you know that? I love spending time with my family and we have so much fun laughing.

It also snowed for the first time this season last night. I took a picture before it could melt. By the time I got home from church it had all melted. Molly and Bailey enjoyed it for awhile.
Speaking of Molly and Bailey, JP let them out this morning and they did not go potty in the kennel, they went potty in the middle of the backyard. JP was mad and so he grounded them. Do you know how you ground dogs? Well for JP you just leave them outside. I woke up and asked where the dogs were and JP said they were grounded. I asked how did you ground them and he said by leaving them outside. I explained that the dogs would not understand why they were grounded. JP said they would understand. I guess we will see next time we let them out to go potty.
Last but not least, even with a calling that requires me to be on time, actually it requires me to be early, for church I was barely on time. Oh well, I will have lots of time to make up for it right!?

I am definitely a warm weather sports fan!!

JP, me, John, Jamie, Alex and Max all went to the REAL game last night. It was the first game in the new stadium. I knew it was going to be cold so I grabbed a blanket, hat, jacket, and gloves before we left. I ended up putting on everything and was still kind of cold. As I was sitting there trying to be warmer I thought to myself 'I am definitely a warm weather sports fan.' I like to attend soccer games and football games but I really enjoy them when it is nice outside, not so much when it is cold! The new Rio Tinto stadium is nice. There are some things that are not so nice. For instance last night they ran out of pizza and it was a 30 minute wait for one. Are you kidding me? We went for hot dogs instead. You can only get bottled drinks, no fountain drinks, and it is Pepsi products. Now I am not a Pepsi product fan unless it is wild cherry Pepsi, which they did not have. And the kicker is the drink is 3 dollars. I know what was I expecting, I was at a sporting event and wanted a reasonable price for the food. Last but not least the seats do not have arm rests and looked really cheap. Now arm rests are never used to put your arms on at a sporting event, they are more there so everyone can have their own space. Without the arm rests to let everyone know when their space ends and others begins, well their space spills over to you. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game last night and I am sure I will be going to more in the future but there were some flaws with the new stadium I thought I would let you know about. GO REAL SALT LAKE!

Random thought of the day: Why can you keep baseballs and tennis balls that go into the crowd but you can't keep soccer balls, footballs, or basket balls?

Me and My Kirby!!!

I can't believe I have not written about this yet. A couple of months ago JP and I went garage sailng and JP found....... A KIRBY VACUUM!!!!! And it was only FIVE dollars! Now some of you know the story behind the Kirby and that we actually owned one before. Well, we just sort of stored it for a couple of days before I decided I did not want it. Anyways, my Kirby is a nice green color. Green like from the 70's! It needed a new belt and some other tweaks but JP was able to fix it up and it works great. I have a nice picture of me and my Kirby but my camera is in my father-in-laws truck so the picture will have to come later. JP left the camera in the truck after hunting, oops.

Random thought of the day: Why can't my puppies just poop in the kennel?

It smells like dead fish!

JP took Bailey and Molly up to Idaho this weekend. It was the duck hunting opener. I laughed when JP said he was going to take both dogs. You see as much as I love my dogs Bailey is like me and, well he is lazy. Then there is Molly and she is well, a spaz! So I thought for sure JP was not going to have a good time. Turns out he had a good time. There were not a lot of ducks so Bailey found himself a nice spot in the bushes and fell asleep while Molly found some dead fish and rolled around in it. I am pretty sure that the u-de-toilet duck smell went out years ago, but Molly still insists on smelling like it. Oh well, at least she is cute to make up for it! JP didn't see her until it was too late and she was already covered in the dead fish. Then Baileys breath stinks more then usual and JP informed me that whenever they happened upon cow poo, you guessed it, Bailey would eat it! Personally I have never tried cow poop but even if I was desperate I would not eat it. I guess if you are hungry and bored enough you WILL eat it! Molly would roll around in the cow poop. So needless to say my house stinks and DO NOT let my dogs lick your face unless you want to smell like cow poop too!

Because JP and the dogs were out of town, it was just me. Instead of cleaning the house I hung out at my parents. Why should I clean when JP is having fun? I watched conference with my family and Saturday night while the boys were at priesthood my sisters and I watched Maid of Honor. It was a good chick flick. Kimmy wanted to watch it again Sunday night but it ended up not happening. So all in all it was a good weekend for everyone here! The dogs are STILL recovering from hunting and probably will be for a couple more days. They just lay around and this morning when I left they didn't even wag their tails to say good by. I guess they are really tired.

Random thought of the day: Why does your nose run when you are cold?

Look what you can learn by reading

So those of you know know me well know I read everything. I read the back of chap sticks, frosting packages, owners manual of my car cover to cover, manual to our washer and dryer, etc. Yes I know it is very dorky but I don't care! But I have learned many things by reading and here they are for you....
*Burt's Bees is made in Durham North Carolina. (the back of my chap stick)(even more reason to visit Jess and Shauntel!!!)
*The difference between alligators and crocodiles is the edge of the upper jaw in an alligator overlaps the teeth of the lower jaw. Crocodiles are opposite, their over jaw fits over their upper. (tag on a white alligator stuffed animal from the zoo)
*The difference between bison and buffalo is one has 13 sets of ribs and the other has 14. I don't remember which is which. Their heads are also bigger. (world book)
and last but not least.....
*When using already made frosting stir frosting 20 times before using. (Betty Crocker frosting)

Random thoughts

*Is it weird I will spontaneously break out and sing some random song?
*Why does the word funeral start with the word fun?
*If I dream about having triplets what goes that mean?
*Why does everyone keep asking me if I have something to announce?
*And since when do I need to announce I have gained weight and NOT because I am pregnant?
*Is is really hard to cook dinner, or am I really that lazy?
*Why are things so easy for others and yet SO hard for me?
*When I tell someone something in confidence do I need to preface it with don't tell anyone?
*Or should 'don't tell anyone' be unspoken but implied?
*Why do people turn on others?
*Why do people act angry and ornery towards people they don't even know?
*And if they act like that to strangers, how do they treat people they know?
*Why do I like to sing at the top of my lungs sometimes while driving around?
*Why oh why do I cry at everything?
*Can you go over budget if the budget is self induced and money does still exist? (I will explain this another time)
*Why do I keep buying baby clothes, when I don't have a baby (Molly does not count) and I am not pregnant?
*Is it still healthy if I put tons of chocolate syrup in my milk?
*Why can't I just forgive and forget?

While I know the answers to some of these questions I still think about them. What do you think about?
