The Wind of September

A recap from August thru September:

Castle Valley Pageant with the whole Chavez family. A crazy wedding flower week. Traditional/eclectic flowers (yeah, it's a thing,) luau flowers that night, and Baroque flowers the next morning. Bought a puppy. Had to return her at the begging of her previous owners who found a last-minute dogsitter until they owned a home. Bought a new puppy the next day and named her Margo. Loved Margo more. Family reunion with parents, grandma, bro and sis in Jackson Hole. Hiked with kids around Jenny Lake in light snow. Toured downtown Jackson. Had a blast at Bar J Wranglers. Got chewed out by an elderly woman for not wrangling Ezra better during the show. Wanted to wrangle her, but just used my words instead (this is worth mentioning because I rarely get into confrontations, but at that point I just felt so strongly that she needed to be told that it was a family friendly event and that Ez was behaving fairly well for a two year-old.) Explored Yellowstone and watched the rest of my family's awe-struck faces at the geysers, waterfall and wildlife. Went to a company party at Vince and Megan's house in Park City, where we got to ride the alpine slide. Good news: Qiana didn't die or get seriously injured like she suspected. Qiana turned 5 years old. We built a fire pit in the backyard and had s'mores to celebrate that night. Qiana finished her last month of soccer for a while--Mommy was not able to handle the taxi schedule as much as she would have liked. Enjoyed the new weather, full of rain. Oh! Qiana started preschool! It's a coop preschool between me and two other mom friends (Lacee and Jen.) She loves it and I'm figuring out how much I like it too. Listened to General Conference! Was really looking forward to hearing the talks by inspired men and women. Did not disappoint, especially since Ryan so graciously offered some tickets to Juan and me. It was my first time ever going to General Conference! Took a fun preschool field trip to the pumpkin patch and corn maze. Qiana saw a massive pig that made a deep impression on her. Went to Disneyland!! First timers Juan and the kids were enjoying it almost as much as me, watching them take it all in. Qiana couldn't handle Splash Mountain or Space Mountain, for which I don't blame her during Halloween. Thanks to a ton of great advice and a very detailed game plan offered by Brian and Nicole, we were able to get quickly on as many rides as we wanted with many return visits. Went to the famed Halloween party at Disneyland. Also did not disappoint. Went to Laguna Beach and true Little Mexico in L.A. for a hit of culture shock for our kids. Gorged on churros, tacos, and a huitlacoche huarache. Welcomed Chad back home from his mission at the SLC airport a few days later.  Best!! Went to the cabin that weekend with the rest of the fam except the Magleby portion... which we severely miss. Margo and Stryker quickly became best friends. Ez fell in love with the zip line. A couple days later Siena went back to school and our schedules got back to normal. I still teach piano lessons and we are preparing for our first recital in November. Fall rings in the holiday season and more hectic lives, but I have tried to imprint daily moments in my mind so as to relish in them later; unfortunately I haven't had enough time to write them in detail on the blog. Knowing that it probably wouldn't all get written, I have really tried to be in the moment and appreciate it, which has made a world of difference.
