My Funny Daughter

This afternoon when Peyton got home, I got out her folder to get her started on her homework. I got her set up at her desk, went over all of her work and told her to bring me her finished work so I could check it. One of her assignments was to write about a time that she was a helper to a grown-up. She is a wonderful little helper to many people but this is what she chose to write about and bring to me:

I help my mom take care of my brother. For example, sometimes
my mom wants to watch TV and she cannot because my brother Cade is
bugging her. So I take Cade to the playroom and play with him.

What??!! What about the time when you helped Gee Gee with her yard sale?? And remember what an incredible help you were to me when Cade was getting his Botox injections?? And how about the time that I was feeling really sick and you tried to clean up the house for me?? I told her that she could not hand that in because her teacher would think that I was a bulbous glutton who sits around watching Judge Judy all day! (I save the DVR'd Judge Judy's for late at night when I can't sleep!) I rarely watch TV during the day. But, I have to admit, her paper is pretty funny and I'll let her hand it in, but will be sure to tell Ms. Walton that Peyton enjoys writing fiction! That, or I am truly living up to my blog name!!

I'm not the only one!

It has come to my attention that I'm not the only Lazy Seamstress in the world. For whatever reason, my brother decided to Google me by my blog name and someone else came up. I am THE Lazy Seamstress and Theresa is Lazy Seamstress. Anyway, as I was perusing her blog, I came across something pretty nifty for all of you preggos and new mommies. Click here. Maybe I can bite off of her idea and make my own proto-type! We'll see...

The Future Mrs. Miyagi!

Wednesday night, Peyton got her brown belt in karate! Dave and I are so incredibly proud of her. She started taking classes when she was 4. There have been times when she didn't want to go on certain nights, but for the most part, she really enjoys karate. This is her 2nd or 3rd year in an all girls class and she absolutely loves it. This past summer we enrolled her in the summer program that met twice a week and she loved that, too. I think this is when she decided that she wanted to be more serious about practicing and doing well. She's had some private lessons and practices at home with Dave and feels much more confident about her abilities now.

Bye-bye, blue belt!!

Sportin' the new brown belt. And look who's already taken the blue one-

Peyton and her good friend, Jenah, who is in class with her.

I have a video of Mr. Mike's comments about Peyton, but I'm having trouble uploading it- I'll keep trying...

CONGRATULATIONS PEYTON!!!

Say Hello To My Little Friend...

Meet Bubba- our new furry little friend.
I've had my struggles with Bubba, but I think we kind of have an understanding with each other now. He knows me and my voice and has come to like me and isn't afraid of me anymore. I can tolerate him now and I'm not as grossed out by him as I used to be.

Isn't he a cutie??

Boy LOVES Bubba. He talks to him and tells Bubba that he's a good boy and that he is family.

He'll lay on the floor like this for 20-30 minutes just talking away.

I don't think this will come as any surprise, but I haven't yet picked up the hamster. I just hold the ball down into the cage and he crawls in. Likewise, when his exercise time out of the cage is over, I lower the ball back down inside and kind of dump him out. I do keep his area very clean and have been feeding him a lot so that he won't be hungry for his own poo. Seems to be working...

Cade's teacher has a panda hamster and said that it took her a whole month before she would pick her hamster up. There's hope for me yet!!

Happy Birthday, Old Girl!

My sweet sister-in-law turned 40 yesterday!! I know, she doesn't look old enough to drive a car! (That's what Peyton thinks. She says that her cousin, Royce, is bigger than Kathy and he can't drive so why can she??!) Seriously, she really does look like she's in her late 20's-she has aged well! Don't kill me, Kathy! Wait, why am I worried??! She NEVER checks my blog, so she won't know I posted this! :) Besides, I'm close behind you with the age thing...
Anyway, I can't believe that you are 40. Remember when we were at my dad's surprise 40th birthday party?? Who knew that 21 years later we would be sisters-in-law and best friends?! All of us Day's love you very much and wish we could've been there to help you celebrate. But, hopefully we'll all be able to meet in February and we'll have a rockin' night of playing Sequence, eating Hawaiian bread and dip, and maybe I'll even be able to get Dave to stay up past 10 for the fun!! Happy Birthday!
