Canada, Eh?

Oh, Can-a-da...
We went to Canada to see this...
Beautiful. But, we saw it, the kids loved it, and then they were ready to move on.
So, we just walked around for a little bit waiting for my parents to arrive.
Here was our fabulous hotel.
I hadn't ever been here before and didn't realize how built up this area is. The kids loved walking the streets and Peyton loved the shopping. I love this picture of the boys!
We went back to the hotel to relax for a little bit and after awhile I realized that Peyton had been in the bathroom for a very long time...
Here's why- Disney Channel!! I guess Hannah Montana is way more cool
in the bathroom than in the sleeping area.
Here was the view from our room.
After Gee Gee and Pop arrived, we walked around looking for a not-so-crowded place to eat.
I don't think such a place exists around there!
That place reminded me of Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach.
Here's my mom showing Pate some pictures.
And here's one for all you single ladies out there...
OR, eye candy for the rest of us!
Oh yeah, nothing like a grown man on a pimped out tricycle!!
There was a Hershey's store very close to our hotel and we enjoyed it! They had delicious giant chocolate covered strawberries and huge chocolate chip cookies as well as every Hershey bar/candy ever made. My mom got a 1 pound Reese's peanut butter cup. It may not sound like much, but it was the size of a softball and it was yummy!
They also had giant 5 pound Hershey bars for $45.00!!
Both of the falls.
We took the kids to ride out on the Maid of the Mist.
I guess she thought that the blue slicker would keep her dry!
There was also a cool indoor water park like at the Great Wolf Lodge.

This red slide must have been pretty exciting.
Here we are hanging out in the Coca Cola shop. Boy was too busy with the
cherry cola float and didn't want to be bothered by joining us for the picture.
We had a fun couple of days, but we were ready to make the long trip back home.
We weren't on the road long before Boy Boy hit the brick wall. Twelve and a half hours later, we were back in Greensboro and Day Family Road Trip '09 was over.
Side note: Incase anyone is interested, you can get back into the US with a passport that has been expired for 2 years with no problems and no questions asked! Good to know. I feel so safe.

Number 16

"Love is what makes two people sit in the middle of a bench
when there is plenty of room at both ends."

Today is our 16th wedding anniversary and what a great 16 years it's been!
I'm not going to say a whole lot here on the blog because, let's be honest, Dave doesn't ever read it!! So, I'll spare you all from having to read a bunch of gushy stuff about us
and save it for his card!

I will say this: I'm so thankful that he still likes to sit in the middle of the bench with me!

An Evening in Pittsburgh

So last Friday after spending the entire day at the Science Center we walked the city streets to the ballpark. We had never been to Pittsburgh before and didn't know what to expect, but I have to say, the part of the city that houses the football stadium and the ballpark is beautiful. It's clean and pretty and we just walked around enjoying the beautiful weather. It had rained all day and just before we left for the ballpark it quit raining and the sun came out.
It was beach towel night at the ballpark and Peyton could not wait to get there and claim hers! We were a little early, so we sat outside to people watch. I know some of you are probably waiting for some funny pictures, but I was good on this trip and only took pictures of Dave and the kids!

PNC Park is beautiful! This is what they call the Riverwalk on the back of the stadium. There are a bunch of food places and souvenir stands that all face the city on the river.

Dave and Pate watched a little batting practice.
Thank you Tyler Falwell for the sweet daddy seats you hooked us up with!!
We were about 12 rows back from 1st base and the view was great!

This picture is for you Kathy! I know he's no Pat Burrell, but Aaron Rowand is an ex-Phillie non-the-less!

Here's the reason that we were excited to be at this game: The Freak! Yes, it's Tim Lincecum, the kid on the video game commercial- the guy whose dad would make him pick up a dollar on his follow through.

We ended up leaving before the game was over and it was a good thing because we listened to the rest of the game on XM on our way up to Buffalo and it lasted for 14 innings! Poor Boy Boy was having a tough enough time staying up as long as he did.
Peyton, on the other hand, got her second wind when it got dark. Again, she was a little giddy. She loves baseball like her mama does and her Mimi and Granddaddy had given her money that was burning a hole in her pocket. She bought this shirt on our way out of the ballpark and was pretty excited about it.

Here's Boy after his exhausting day of FUN! He was asleep in less than 5 minutes once his bottom hit the car seat.

Canada, here we come!

Day Family Road Trip '09

We just got back from our super fun road trip to Pittsburgh and Niagara Falls!
This is what I had in the back of my head most of the trip:

Seriously, how annoying is it to have little ones kicking the back of your seat constantly?! I'd tell Peyton to stop kicking my seat and she'd put them up on the seat next to my headrest. It's a good thing that West Virginia was a beautiful state to drive through and that Dave and I were so engrossed with the landscape along the highways or she may have lost a leg on this trip!

First stop on this leg of the trip: Pittsburgh Hilton Garden Inn. Fabulous!- I highly recommend!
We had to leave after Peyton's American girl camp, so we didn't get to our room until pretty late that night. BUT, the kids were up and in the pool before 8 am!!

Next stop: Carnegie Science Center
This place was a lot of fun! Peyton saw this contraption and just had to get on it. It's the thing that moves all over as you shift your body weight around. You don't get sick because your stomach never really moves. It's pretty hard to do, but she did a great job.

Okay, well, now move over for the real pro. How hard can it be??! Peyton took a bunch of pictures for me, but they all turned out blurry. I guess it was because I had this thing spinning so fast... Okay, maybe not spinning so fast, but I was definitely doing some flips and semi-fast spinning!

While we were in line for that thing, the boys were in line for the trampoline.
Boy is all harnessed up and ready to go-

I think this was his third favorite thing to do here.
Now, here was his second favorite thing. We went on this old attack submarine.
We climbed down below and he kept waiting for them to take us under the water. Poor thing never got to do that!
He was still really enjoying everything on the sub.He was so into checking everything out!
Here's a picture with "big city" (as Cade calls any city) behind them.
Peyton gets super giddy when she is tired or happy. She was both, so the giddy level was high!
We ended up seeing an IMAX movie on Beavers. This Beaver IMAX was #1 on Cade's list! Absolutely amazing. Dave and I liked it, too. Cade could not stop talking and asking questions through the whole entire 35 minutes of the movie! I actually jammed a piece of bubble gum in his mouth thinking that he would chew and not talk. Well... he chews loud like a cow AND asked a ton of funny questions! So cute though. Both kids went straight to the gift store after the movie and bought stuffed Beavers. Boy named his Buddy and Pate named hers Betsy. They have been sleeping with them and playing with them ever since.
Okay, part two entitled An Evening in Pittsburgh coming soon...

Hanging Rock State Park

Here are a few pictures from Peyton's trip to Hanging Rock State Park during her American Girl Camp~ Molly. We went to Window Falls where I got this cute picture of Pate and Kennedy.

This was the first time that Peyton has ever been in a lake! She thought that it was gross, but got used to it.
We got to do a little canoeing and the girls loved it.

Fun times!

Softball and the Zoo

Just over a week ago Dave played in a Coaches Vs. Cancer softball tournament/fundraiser. I was a little nervous because 2 years ago while playing in a softball league, there was an incident (a ball that took a bad hop) that altered my husband's mouth and cost a pretty penny to fix! The picture below doesn't show the extent of the injuries, but there was a busted lip in 2 places and a missing bottom tooth! This was a couple days after the injury and Peyton told Dave that she didn't really want him to come to her t-ball game because she was embarrassed by the way he looked!! He went, and she didn't seem to be too embarrassed.

Anyway, Dave's team was up first and I'm proud to say that my guy is still a force to be reckoned with on the ball field! He got a double and scored a run- yay!

Evidently, Dave forgot that he was playing short stop when his tooth was knocked out. He also must have forgot that I told him back then that if he wanted to play softball ever again, he had to play in the outfield. We see now who wears the pants in our family- and it's NOT me!!
He's playing softball and he's doing it in the short stop position!! Oh well, I tried.

Below is our friend Rob. Whatcha doin', Rob??! LOOK ALIVE OUT THERE!!!
I think a young child may be heckling him. Don't let it get to ya... keep your head in the game!

Dave is multi-talented on the ball field. Great hitter, superb fielder, and excellent 3rd base coach! All that talent, but their team still lost. Sorry guys! I wish I had more pictures and knew exactly how they lost, but I left early to to out to eat with some friends, so this is all I have. I'm sure you kicked butt, sweetie!

On Monday the kids and I met an old friend at the Asheboro Zoo. Kimmie and I have known each other since as long as I can remember and we were the best of friends in high school. We had a great day catching up and letting our kids run all over the zoo.

Delaney, Devin, Peyton and Cade
My kids love the giraffes and wanted their picture together in front of them.
Devin and Boy had a blast while Kimmie's brother-in-law popped wheelies and drove the stroller like a maniac.
I asked Pate if she wanted her picture taken with the giraffe painting and this is the sassy pose she gave me. We are in troub-ble!!
