Student of the Week

Every week, each teacher in every class picks a child to be Student of the Week. It is a very prestigious honor that all of the kids get to enjoy at least one time during the year. :) Well, today was Cade's lucky day and he could not have been more surprised or happy!
Mrs. Summers told me that he was going to be the Student of the Week so I was ready with my camera to capture the moment. Sorry for the shaky video... it was pretty early and I
hadn't had a Pepsi yet.

Friday was "Family Movie Night" at the Day house.
We watched this movie and it was so good!

It was touching~ I got choked up a couple of times~ and it was funny.
The kids laughed a lot and it was only 90 minutes which is great for me!
(I get very antsy during most kids movies. They usually drag on way too long!)
We ordered pizza and had yummy desserts before making a big "bed"
on the living room floor. So fun!
We're going to have another movie night soon. Every December we watch the Home Alone
movies and we all love them! Boy Boy thinks they are hilarious. It's more fun watching him
crack up than it is watching the movie!

Thinking it's a good idea to ride your bike down our street and jump
the "ditch" in our front yard...

Equals this...

And this...
and this...
and this...
and this...
And a big bump on your head that I didn't get a picture of.
And a huge, swollen, black and blue hand because you landed on it- kinda like I landed on mine on the Creeper Trail, but you didn't get gravel jammed up into yours.
BUT, you are a wonderful Daddy who takes playing cops and robbers on your bikes very seriously and we all love you for that!! You're the best!

Here's what we've been doing...

Last Thursday was the Kindergarten field trip to Kersey Valley Corn Maze! So fun!
The kids started off by mining for artifacts like Indian arrowheads, shark's teeth, snail shells and cool rocks. Here's Cade with his buddy Matthew dumping their bags of "treasures" into their sifter.
Cade and Shawna checking out the loot!
Anyway, after the mining we were set loose in a corn maze and had to find 6 different stations within the maze. We found 5 and then found our way out. One of the girls was afraid and was crying through much of the maze. No, it wasn't me.

After lunch, the kids were able to do, by far, the most fun activity of the day...
The gigantic bounce hill!
Boy Boy was in bouncy heaven!!
Moving on to Friday night's annual Halloween party at Katrina's...
This is a costume party for the kids and adults and this year I was a little stressed about costumes. I was making Peyton's elf costume and have had so much stuff going on that I didn't have much time to worry about my costume. (or Dave's!) Thank you Margie for loaning me Cade's costume!! He looked so cute! And who knew you had mad sewing skills??!
So, here is my last minute costume that DAVE picked out for me...
How hideous is this??! I'm supposed to be a nerd, but I think I was Ugly Betty times 10!!
Not real sure how I got my eyes to do that. Pretty freaky!

Then we have Davey Crockett-what a cute little mountain man!
Elf Peyton and go-go girl Virginia.
The best part of the party is seeing all of our friends dressed up!
Ronald and Robin Booker-
Peter and Tricia came to visit from Richmond dressed as Rocky and Adrienne! Love it!
Tricia, your Adrienne was too cute!
Here's my husband with biker chick, Kathy.
Me and my peeps-
Cade, Nathan and Justin.
Sophie and Jenah- SO CUTE!!
Here's Adrienne- my sweet friend and carpool buddy, Tricia, who moved
to Richmond over the summer. I MISS YOU!!

Halloween night the kids were SO EXCITED to be able to go trick-or treating
with the Langston clan. This was Cade's first time trick-or-treating!
Peyton absolutely ADORES Sarah and Katherine and felt like such
a "big girl" spending the evening with them. Of course Cade had a great time
hanging out with Matthew. So much fun, that he actually stayed awake past 7:30!
And, here we are with Rob and Kelly after the night of fun.
Thank you so much for a fabulous evening!!
So, there you have it-
Hopefully, I'll be a better blogger and will post more frequently from now on!
