Climb aboard the potty train!

Reading books while sitting on the potty!

We started potty training on Saturday and wow is it a lot of work! Lot's of time sititng on the potty, reading potty books like "The Potty Train," lots of cheering and sheer excitement in Cale's eyes when he goes potty in the potty, lots of m&ms, lots of just sitting and waiting, and more sitting and waiting, lots of hand washings, and lots of toliet paper. Cale thinks he needs to wipe his butt everytime he goes potty. He's doing pretty good so far. We have him in pull-ups and although we've had no poops in the potty, we've had lots of successes this weekend with pee pees! Although I know we have a ways to go, I think we had a great 1st potty training weekend!

There is 1 fun story from the weekend of potty training-today Cale sat on the potty for a while, but he didn't have to go, so he got up all excited, but then we looked into the potty and he didn't go. So he said m&m and I said "only if you go potty in the potty and you didn't go this time, but it's ok." So what does he do before I get his pull ups back on him-he goes to the kithchen and stares at the cabinet where the m&ms are and I again say "not this time buddy, we get an m&m for going potty in the potty" So what does he do, he stands there and pees on the kitchen floor and then wants an m&m. Although I was so frustrated in the moment and was like "no, no Cale, we don't pee on the floor" I also deep down inside couldn't help but laugh. He's a smart kiddo-he knows he has to go pee to get an m&m and that's what he did. Looking back on it this evening, all I can do is laugh!

Before and After

Just to give you an idea of our lovely living room after getting all the toys out and playing for a day. It amazes me how quickly our house can get messy! It seems to just take 2 seconds and then it looks crazy! See for yourself :)
