Granda and Grandma Jones

Upward Cheer

Caroline has wanted to be a cheerleader for a while now so I signed her up for Upward cheer.  I can't say enough good things about the Upward program, however Caroline did not enjoy cheer. Most weeks she very seriously stood around throughout the game. Very little spirt, a few motions here and there, maybe one loud yell and that was it.  We always had fun watching her though. I'm sad it's all over.

Our sweet Boomer

January 6th we had to make such a difficult decision and put our sweet, loving, playful Boomer down.  He had gotten sick December 30 and never perked back up. He wouldn't eat or get up to play so we knew it was time. The vet agreed with our decision and he was 11 years old, but it didn't make it any easier. Justin and I got Boomer shortly after we began dating in September of 2002, because ALL college couples get a dog. It makes your relationship, that much more serious! ;-)  We got a good one in Boomer. He was smart, loyal, playful, gentle, and so good with our kids. He wasn't always the easiest. He hated strong winds and thunderstorms so he would jump our 6 ft fence if he was left outside during one. Not to worry though, he would just wait for us to get home on the front porch. One time I was thawing out 6 pounds of fajita meat for a party we were hosting and he got in the sink during the night and ate every last pound, including the butcher paper around it.  In 2009 he got really sick and we thought we were losing him them, but it turned out to be diabetes. Once we got it under control he was back to health. He required two shots a day and expensive prescription food, but he was worth it.  He was a great swimmer and loved diving in after balls. He enjoyed long walks and roaming the front yard while we did yard work.  He never hurt a soul and was always seeking attention.

Even almost two months later I find myself looking for him out the back door or waiting for him to wake me to let him out.  He was such a good family member and we miss him greatly.

Preparing for Santa and other December 2013 News

December, as always, has been a whirlwind of a month. It always kicks off with my birthday, which is no big deal and then the holiday parties begin. This year we had a few days of ice where we were all held captive. It was fine for the first day but by about day 2 I was ready to escape. We attempted an escape on Saturday but quickly realized we couldn't even exit our neighborhood. Here are some pics from the event. Unfortunately Justin took a few spills which resulted in an aching wrist but other than that we had fun.

In mid December we had a neighborhood Christmas party. It was at the local country club and Santa even made an appearance.

It's hard to believe Santa will be here tomorrow night. Good tidings to all!! Hope your family is feeling blessed this season.
