Teh website is still down

It shows how long i’ve been away that only now i’ve read Bilem’s post below. His kind words are really more than i deserve and i probably wouldn’t have been able to keep this site going for as long i did if it was just a one-man show. I mean, really, who wants to read about a semi-neurotic idiot blab endlessly about his non-existent love life?

I think Bilem has summed up the entire blog’s history pretty nicely and has provided some interesting statistics to boot (as all good posts written by engineers must contain). By all accounts, i think we had a good, if rather modest, run. However, while he has moved on, i’m not ready as yet to put the final proverbial nail in the coffin. If you asked me a month ago whether the site was dead, i probably would have agreed with you. But after receiving a recent epiphany, i’ve decided that you can’t keep a good blog down. In fact, i’ve decided to revamp this blog and bring it in a completely new direction. The best part is that with Bilem gone, this site is mine! All mine!! Muahahahahaha!!! *ahem*

Unfortunately, dear reader (if i actually still have any) any changes to this site will have to wait a little longer. I’m currently in the midst of preparing for my finals and this is, without a doubt, the big kahuna, ladies and gentlemen. No matter what happens come May, i would have completed my degree but i would certainly love to graduate with flying colours. So wish me luck as i dive back down into my sea of cases, rules and long-winded academicians and when i resurface, we shall greet the new dawn together.

Moving right along…

Jax and I had an informal talk about moving on and leaving this site. I have moved on to my blog here. We will just wait for Jax, if he ever will, to confirm the end of this blog.

Looking back, we have come a long way. I was nonchalant about this project in the beginning. I’m really grateful that Jax took to himself to set it up.  Had things been left in my hands, this blog would not have existed, much less lasted for almost 2 years. Wai Yin would be quick to point out that there are lots of empty spaces in between.

There leaves a question to be answered. Does this mean that the blog was a failure?

Consider that there are 77 posts excluding this, that would be an average of 9.5 days between post, which is a little more than a post a week… Alright.. I’ll admit. The posts are inconsistent, I get it…

Another bit of statistics, Jax posted 40 articles while I posted 37. In the beginning, I made it a point to have even number of articles as him. It was a little game I played and now I realized I should have just posted the moment I felt like it.

So to answer the question, I think not. It was an enjoyable experience. We tried something new and we learned.

I learned that WordPress is easy to use. I also learned that we should have clearly define where we were going to take this blog.

Oh well, that will be something that we will keep in mind if we ever decide to get back together.

This is goodbye then.

Infectionator

In this game, you have to infect as many people as possible. In between levels, you can upgrade your zombie making abilities. Watch out for Secret Agent and Heroes. They are tougher to kill and needs to be infected more than once.

Downtime

As of today, it will officially be a month since i started my new job. I’m pleased to report that while i still find the work rather bland, the people i work with are quite nice which makes it somewhat bearable. I just wish i had a colleague or two who is in the same age group as i am so that i have someone to talk to when i have nothing better to do…which seems to often be the case lately. In contrast to when i first started out, for most of last week and probably for the rest of this one as well, i constantly find myself having a lot of downtime. Not that having free time is bad, but when i’m getting paid for my time and i spend 40% of it reading random articles off the Net, i start to feel rather guilty. The irony lies in the fact that when i ask for work, the higher-ups tell me they have nothing left for me to do. That said, i am incredibly glad i don’t have to work on Saturdays or up to 9pm on certain days like some of my classmates do in other legal firms. It’s either sheer exploitation or my friends are plain nuts.

On to random points of interest!

First up, for the interested, Starcraft 2 Battle Report 3 is out.

Second; rather old but still cool.

Lastly, from the guys who brought us this, we now have sticky notes!

They are among us!

Everyone has idiosyncrasies. Even the most normal of people do weird things at times. I get that. Admittedly, i’m not the most normal of people either – though i would argue that the definition of normal is open to interpretation. However, there are times when people do or say things which just make me go “Huh??”. And i’m not even talking about Youtube celebrities or somesuch but real people i know or meet everyday. For example:

1. A contact on MSN whose name and personal message at this time of writing read: OH MY GOD my house has been robbed !!! – ARGH!!!! need GOLD for Mousehunt !!!! any1 care to donate me …lol (Mousehunt is an app on Facebook, if you didn’t know that already)

2. A friend on Facebook who constantly updates his status. What’s wrong with that you might ask? Well, when one his regular posts reads something like:

I ask whether the Bar Committee open at Friday and Saturday. Ha…close…The law firm close at that days, the Bar Committee too. He told me that rest during rest days, don work for whole week. I want productive. I suddenly change to passion for LAW, look at the mirror and ask “Are you (name removed for privacy reasons)?”.You can just do your position job,why involve in all others position job…why still read?

And said person posts stuff like this every few hours, you get the idea. Here’s another:

When you first see the girl you’re interested in. You need to learn how to introduce yourself by practicing for few minute before talking to her, to assure form her that you’re worth getting to know.

But wait, it gets better. Quite often this guy will comment on his own status update without anyone actually commenting beforehand. Take the last example above. The follow-up to that reads:

Buy a expensive handphone and watch. If she value you with your possesion, no need to worry about run out topic or meet a dead end-road.

Yea…

But of course, this “list” wouldn’t be complete if i didn’t mention the guy who turns on his MSN but “appears offline” most of the time…

Guilty as charged;)

A new environment

I is back. High time too lest i start to think this blog updated itself. Bilem, you sly dog you.

Following my last last post, most of you know i was in the midst of preparing for an exam. Said exam was completed as of last week. I couldn’t stop grinning for a day. I also mentioned that i was to do an internship afterwards. Thus on Monday, i started work at Quah & Yeap, a law firm at Gurney Tower (27th Flr if anyone should feel so inclined to visit me).

How did my first week go? Well, i’ve decided that whatever my future career should entail, i definitely don’t want it to involve sitting for 8 hours on end doing paperwork. Not that i really dislike it, mind you. Heck, i’m constantly working so that i hardly have enough time to think, much less muster up any vitriol towards my job (actually i probably have only myself to blame because i chose to undertake this). It’s just that some of the things i’m required to do is so mind-numbingly tedious.  At any rate, i’ve learned quite abit so far and i do still have 3 months to go and so we’ll leave it at that for now.

Before i leave this space, i’ll share this. I’ve linked it on Facebook before but apparently *some* people don’t actually log on to theirs. Either way, a must-watch.

Of symphonies and cereal

For your viewing pleasure:

Youtube Symphony Orchestra. If you haven’t heard of it, read about it here. And this is the original song the mash-up is based on. I prefer this version because i think it truly represents what Youtube and the Internet is at its best.

This, on the other hand, is something else entirely:

The guy isn’t Michael Bay. Still awesome though.
