Thank you for the well wishes, they really cheered me up. My wrist is so much better now. I still have to avoid straining it too much, but I can do some knitting. When I was writing the last post, I had to type with only one hand, so the pictures were left without any explanation. The wrist warmer was there only because that's what my hand looked like, at least before I got myself a proper support dressing. The glittery one is from a Finnish knitting pattern Haruha, on the Ulla knitting magazine (sorry, only in Finnish) and it has a mismatched pair with some cables on it. They were done from some glittery vintage wool almost a year ago, but newer got blogged. The darker gray one is described in this post.
The white beginning of a scarf is in fact, as someone suggested, the Drifting pleats scarf from the book Knitting new scarves. I just got the book and it has many interesting patterns. No progress on the scarf, since knitting the pleats tires my wrist.
The shark suit, modeled by my trusty seal, is actually a dog sweater for a friends dog. Hopefully there will be some 'in action' photos soon. The gray hat is Knitty's Foliage with slight modifications, knitted from the left over yarn. This way the dog and the owner can match on their walks.
Then there was a picture of the cardigan, that was introduced in this post. The body is done to the armholes and one and a half sleeves are finished. It will be done, some day. My knits look awfully gray, just like the weather. Not to worry, I have a yellow FO and something green on the needles.
The yellow is a pair of Elliphantom's Herringbone mittens. The herringbone pattern has always been my favorite and I actually needed a pair of cozy mittens. The yarn is Debbie Bliss Donegal tweed aran, and the mittens took one ball of each color. I love the yarn and I love the pattern. The only modification I made was leaving out the pom-poms.
The first mitten was a good lesson on color domination. Below the thumb, yellow is dominating and above it, brown. This is all because I picked the yarn in different order. I hold both of my yarn in the left hand when doing colorwork. Below the thumb I picked the yellow yarn under the brown, and the brown over the yellow. Above that I did the complete opposite. It's quite noticeable in real life, but luckily my coat sleeve covers this bit. You live and learn...

Kiitos kovasti paranemistoivotuksista ja siitä nimpparionnittelustakin! Ranne alkaa olla aika hyvässä kunnossa, mutta hiukan pitää rajoittaa sen kuormittamista vielä. Edellistä postausta kirjoittaessa näpyttelin yksikätisesti, joten selittelyt jäi vähän vähemmälle. Ylimmässä kuvassa näkynyt sormeton sormikas on Ullan Haruha, ja sen parissa on improvisoituja palmikoita. Ne valmistuivat joskus viime talvena kaverilta saadusta vuosikertavillasta, jossa on glitteriä mukana. Ovat silloin jääneet syystä tai toisesta bloggaamatta. Haruhan päällä on tässä postauksessa esitelty ranteenlämmitin. Ne olivat ranteen tukena ennen kuin kerkesin apteekkiin ostamaan kunnon tukisidettä.
Valkoinen huivi, kuten joku kommenteissa jo arvasikin, on Drifting pleats Knitting new scarves -kirjasta. Kirja on upouusi ja siinä on monta kiinnostavaa ohjetta. Huivi ei ole edennyt mihinkään, koska juuri se rasittaa rannetta eniten.
Hylkeen haipuku on kaverin koiralle tehty villapaita. Ohessa saajan kuva. Toivottavasti pian saisi otettua kuvia haipuvusta käyttäjänsä päällä. Pipo on haipuvun jämälangoista (Novita Mambo) tehty Knittyn Foliage pienin muutoksin. Se menee ulkoilupipoksi koiran emännälle.
Sitten siinä taisi olla vielä kuva keskeneräisestä villatakista, jonka alkumetrejä on esitelty tässä postauksessa. Valmiina on vartalo kainaloihin asti ja puolitoista hihaa. Hiljaa hyvää tulee... Kovin harmaalta näyttää, mutta sittemmin on valmistunut jotain keltaista ja puikoilla on vihreää.
Se keltainen on Elliphanptomin kalanruotolapaset. Kalanruotokuvio on minun kestosuosikkini ja lapaset tulivat ihan oikeasti tarpeeseen. Lankana on Debbie Bliss Donegal tweed aran, yksi kerä kumpaakin väriä. Ihanaa lankaa ja mainio ohje. En muuttanut mitään, mutta pompulat jätin pois.
Toisessa lapasessa näkyy oppitunti värin hallitsevuudesta. Peukalon alapuolella keltainen on dominoivampi, siitä ylöspäin ruskea. Noin suuri merkitys on sillä, miten päin langan poimii kudottavaksi. Pidän kirjoneuletta tehdessäni molempia lankoja vasemmassa kädessä. Alareunassa poimin keltaisen ruskean alta, ja ruskean keltaisen päältä. Muualla tein toisinpäin. Ero on todella selvä, mutta lapasen reuna jää onneksi takin hihansuun peittoon. Aina sitä oppii uutta.
