Project 366 Day 274: September 30, 2012

The neighborhood where I live in Windsor is called Rainbow. Funnily enough, we get a lot of rainbows in our neighborhood when it rains. It surprises me, though, that I had to wait until almost October and leave Rainbow to get a picture of a rainbow for this album. This was on Day Hill Road this afternoon. http://flic.kr/p/dfAFNG

Project 366 Day 273: September 29, 2012

One of the nice things about Fall is all the cooking that we do. Tonight we broke out the chili and cornbread - a definite sign that Fall is here! I had this chili with local tortilla chips that I bought from the Farmer's Market, which were surprisingly good. CT folks, if you can find Pan de Oro tortilla chips in your grocery store, buy them! http://flic.kr/p/dfehyd

Project 366 Day 272: September 28, 2012

This photo is kinda blurry, but I like the lines in it, so we'll run with it. I have worked in the Faculty Center for Learning Development at the University of Hartford on and off for about 8 years now. Today, after a stint of almost 19 months exactly, was my last day. I am leaving for a full time position at Charter Oak State College, working with faculty who teach online. I'm sad to go, but I'm very excited about this opportunity. Plus, it's always good to move forward. I start the new job next week! http://flic.kr/p/deZrn1

Project 366 Day 271: September 27, 2012

Fall at the Farmer's Market means lots of squash! It's sad to see the market drawing to a close, but it's nice to still be able to buy local things and support local businesses. http://flic.kr/p/deHTqP

Project 366 Day 270: September 26, 2012

I love how this one turned out. And I love how now that it is Fall, there are so many beautiful colors out. This is between Harry Jack Gray and the Art School...one of my last University of Hartford pics for a while, I imagine! http://flic.kr/p/deHRFG

Project 366 Day 269: September 25, 2012

I got this as my fortune tonight. I can't remember if I've posted any fortunes as my picture of the day yet, but I liked this one in particular. http://flic.kr/p/de8NKj

Project 366 Day 268: September 24, 2012

I work for two universities, but one of my university jobs happens to be located in an office building (i.e. not on a campus). This office building just so happens to have a non-cafeteria restaurant in it. It's oddly situated, but people from the public do go there. Today I was in that office all day, so I ordered lunch from this restaurant. When I walked down to pick it up, I noticed that the restaurant had a Skee ball machine in it. How many people get to say that they have a Skee ball machine in their office building? http://flic.kr/p/ddQ99G

Project 366 Day 267: September 23, 2012

I'll give you three guesses about who I bought this for today, and the first two don't count. (This is currently in the foyer, and it casts the weirdest shadow over the whole room! It's creepy, but it's kind of cool at the same time.) http://flic.kr/p/ddx94r

Project 366 Day 266: September 22, 2012

I cleaned my room today. It took all day. Among the many things I found was this basketball trophy that I got when I was 9. I was terrible at basketball and didn't even really like it, but hey, I got a trophy. :) http://flic.kr/p/dd7xmM

Project 366 Day 265: September 21, 2012

I can't believe it's the first day of Fall. Today was another one of those days where I spotted something and thought, "I need to take a picture of that." I think this project is more an exercise in my thought process than an attempt to be better at photography. :) This is in the lobby of the Harry Jack Gray building at the University of Hartford, right next to the gallery and across from the architecture department. http://flic.kr/p/dcRbj5

Project 366 Day 264: September 20, 2012

We didn't think the sunflowers would make it this year, but a few of them did peek out from the back fence. (We're thinking they might not have enough sun.) This shot came out cooler than I expected. It's actually sideways from how I took it originally, but I liked it better this way. http://flic.kr/p/dcHi4G

Project 366 Day 263: September 19, 2012

This photo is crap because I took it on my iPod and filtered it through Instagram. This is my route home from the U of H. It is gorgeous in the Fall. I will sure miss it when I'm at Charter Oak! http://flic.kr/p/dckCTd

Project 366 Day 262: September 18, 2012

I've had a lot of job interviews lately: one at Manchester Community College, one at Bay Path College and one at Charter Oak State College. So last week, my dad went to a tag sale and came home with the bottle you saw in yesterday's picture. It's a bottle from the Charter Oak Bottling Works in Hartford, CT. He said he had to buy it because it was a sign about my potential job. The next day, I got an email with the job offer you see here. :) I couldn't say anything until now because I wanted to wait until the right people were notified officially. Now that they have, and now that I've signed the official letter, you all get to know. Yay! The job process was a long and stressful one. I had applying for jobs for a few years now. But now that I've figured out what I want to do, I finally made it happen. I'm very excited. http://flic.kr/p/dc5kAJ

My dad got me this bottle at a tag sale last weekend. I'll tell you tomorrow why it's meaningful. http://flic.kr/p/dbMqVF

Project 366 Day 260: September 16, 2012

My dad, his brother and a friend are restoring a 1957 Chris Craft Sea Skiff Cruiser that used to belong to my great-uncle. It's nearly done, but I haven't seen it in a long time. Today we got to stop down to see how far along they are, and drive around Old Wethersfield a bit, too. http://flic.kr/p/dbiErD

Project 366 Day 259: September 15, 2012

This is why technology is so awesome. As I've mentioned more than once, I am obsessed with Dallas, both old and new. I watch the episodes and I watch clips and interviews online. Sometimes Maggie watches with me, but she's not old enough to remember what they all looked like in the '80s, so she has a hard time figuring out who's who. (She also finds the '70s and '80s clothes and hair very funny!) Anyway, after an evening of watching old episodes, I sent off this Tweet to Patrick Duffy. When I woke up in the morning, I saw that he responded! The blue check mark next to his name means that his account has been verified, so it is actually him. That is pretty awesome. So I guess this counts as the second celebrity appearance in this project! http://flic.kr/p/dbiu9H

Project 366 Day 258: September 14, 2012

You might have noticed that I'm a bit obsessed with Dallas, both the old and new versions. I've noticed that Linda Gray wears giant bracelets often, and it's made me kind of interested in giant bracelets when I see them in stores. Here is a closeup of the giant bracelet I wore today. I didn't wear my watch because of it, because my watch is similarly large, and it would have been too much to wear one on each arm! http://flic.kr/p/daNNz7

Project 366 Day 257: September 13, 2012

I took Maggie and PJ to the Farmer's Market today. When we were getting out of the car, Maggie looked at the Windsor Towne House Motel across the street and said, "They should tear that place down. That place is creepy. Who would want to stay there?" I've thought the same thing for a long time. Who knows - maybe it's cute and quaint inside, but it's always just seemed a little off to me. http://flic.kr/p/daxSgX

Project 366 Day 256: September 12, 2012

For years, I avoided Dress Barn because I thought it was a place that sold matronly dresses for Grandmothers of the Bride. But then I went there in search of a dress for my sister's bridal shower, and had terrific luck. Ever since, I have terrific luck every time I go there. I bought some lovely work dresses there today and got a free bag! This is a buckle on one of the dresses. I thought it would be more interesting than just the dress itself. http://flic.kr/p/dah5dq

Never forget. http://flic.kr/p/d9Zq76

Project 366 Day 254: September 10, 2012

I had some time between my two jobs, so I stopped off in Blue Back Square to go to Barnes and Noble and Pinkberry. While at the former, I spotted these math books written by Danica McKellar, better known as Winnie Cooper from the Wonder Years. I *loved* the Wonder Years when I was little! I'd heard she'd written math books, but I'd always thought it was one of those urban legends, like how Paul from the show was actually Marilyn Manson. http://flic.kr/p/d9ZnUX

Project 366 Day 253: September 9, 2012

We spent the better part of today out on the front porch, visiting with friends. Most of them stopped by for just a minute and ended up staying for a few hours. A nice way to spend a Sunday, if you ask me! http://flic.kr/p/d92XyS

Project 366 Day 252: September 8, 2012

My parents were away when McKenzie had her first birthday party, so we all got together to finally celebrate in person. It's so funny to see McKenzie and Jack together! This was early on in the evening when the ice cream truck came down the street - McKenzie had her first ice cream from the ice cream truck and loved it! And it was so cute because her daddy ate all the chocolate off the top so she could eat the vanilla part. :) http://flic.kr/p/d8DLE3

Project 366 Day 251: September 7, 2012

I swear, these black-eyed susans just appeared overnight, and now we're overrun with them. It's the things like these that make me realize that...gasp...Fall is on it's way! :S http://flic.kr/p/d7Nc45

Project 366 Day 250: September 6, 2012

250 days done! This is the gorgeous window at the entrance of Charter Oak State College. (Non-CT folks, you can read about the Charter Oak here. It's kind of interesting that many Charter Oak students will spend years here and never see this window, as COSC is an online college... http://flic.kr/p/d7fX7W

Project 366 Day 249: September 5, 2012

I worked on a project today that took so long and required so much concentration that I was exhausted and sweating when I was done...and all it required was working on a computer! So this picture represents (a) no time to take pictures today, and (b) my mood at the end of the day (hitting a brick wall). http://flic.kr/p/d6G9AU

Project 366 Day 248: September 4, 2012

Today is my dad's birthday. On the plus side, his birthday often falls around Labor Day weekend, but on the minus side, it also often falls on the first day of school (as it did today). We had dinner at home with everyone tonight. This is not the most staged picture, but I thought it was cute: my mom and dad are laughing at a card he got. Happy Birthday Dad! I love you! http://flic.kr/p/d66VNU

Project 366 Day 247: September 3, 2012

We went to my aunt's house for Labor Day and my cousin's birthday. When we were shucking the corn, we found one corn that had another teeny corn growing off of it! Three different people said I should make it my picture of the day, so here you go. Happy Labor Day! http://flic.kr/p/d66SE3

Project 366 Day 246: September 2, 2012

This is the teeniest ladybug I've ever seen. It was on the cap of a tube of travel toothpaste that was in my bathroom. I'm not sure if this picture conveys how small it is since it's magnified so much, but it was so cute! I ran to get my camera while in the middle of brushing my teeth so I wouldn't miss it. http://flic.kr/p/d4moCY

Project 366 Day 245: September 1, 2012

I don't understand the people who are all excited that it is September and that Fall is just around the corner. I'd rather have it be summer for longer than have to think about sweaters and look at bare trees for the next 8 months. We got this shell in Delaware when I was little. My mom found it on the beach and has saved it all these years, because we've never seen one like it since! http://flic.kr/p/d4jFcy
