Karoline was SO excited about this months competition because we got to stay in a hotel. I love how kids just think that is the coolest thing ever! :) We shared a room with our friends with our other friends next door and the girls had a blast. The competition started pretty early the next morning so I'm glad we didn't attempt to make it a day trip...
This was a "BIG" competition... there were 105 teams total... that is a LOT! Karoline's squad did great but did have a few small stunts fall and little mess ups. Karoline was balling her eyes out after their performance. She knew it was not as clean as our last competition but it gave me an opportunity to talk about how we have good weeks and sometimes weeks that are a little rough but all in all we just want to have fun and enjoy our team... It's hard to watch your baby upset but it is a great life lesson... and I can go on and on about the life lessons you can learn being a part of competition cheerleading. I know some don't consider it a "sport" (I'll argue against that all day long) but I am loving how it has become what Karoline enjoys and she is quite talented... perfect for our competitive but not aggressive athlete!
Despite the little mistakes our girls took home the 2nd place TROPHY out of the 5 teams in their division!! They were SO SO SO excited!! Their routine has a high level of difficulty for their division so all those bonus points helped! WAY TO GO MINI SWELLS and we can't wait for CCA Nationals in March. Kind of strange it's a whole month until we compete again!
Loved watching the UNC Cheerleaders perform!
Cheering on the senior squad...
