“After my brother asked me to be godfather to my nephew, Andreas, I knew that I wanted to find an icon of the Apostle Andrew for my new godson. I had searched for one, but had not found an icon that I felt expressed the love that the first-called apostle had for Christ. Then, by a strange coincidence on Twitter, I stumbled across Katherine’s thread showing her process of writing an icon of St Andrew. And she was based in Scotland, where St Andrew is the patron saint! I immediately reached out to Katherine through her website, and she began the commission. Apostle Andreas arrived in his velvet covering by courier, three weeks before the Christening. The icon seemed to glow during the service itself, and many of our family and friends remarked on the extraordinary sense of presence that the icon has. My godson is very blessed, as are Katherine’s hands.”
