Crazy Eye

On Monday the 19th Mauri went in for a Well Child Check at her doctor.  I had been concerned that her ears might be bothering her because earlier in the month she had an ear infection & I never thought she got over it.  Sure enough, both ears were infected and looking worse than before, so the doctor sent her home with a stronger antibiotic.
As the week went on, Judd had noticed that Mauri's left eye wasn't looking quite normal.  Thursday I called the doctor and told him about it and he said he would call me in a prescription for her eye and a numbing drop for her ear because it was still bothering her. We went to pick up the prescription on our way to a family party that night & it wasn't at the pharmacy.  Mauri ended up with a fever & acted like she wasn't feeling well, so we left the party early.
In the morning I tried to call the doctor and he was out of the office for Christmas until Wednesday the 28th.  PERFECT! I went ahead and called the after hours clinic & talked to that doctor who called her in some different medicine.
Saturday (Christmas Eve) her eye started looking progressively worse as the night went on & she  was not acting like she felt good.  Christmas day she woke up with her eye pretty swollen & slept most of the day.  By that night her eye was almost swollen shut & red around the outside.  I ended up taking her to Wee Care because it was the only non-emergency place open on Christmas.  The doctor who saw her looked like she had been practicing medicine for a whole 10 minutes. She thinks it is a skin infection around her eye. After leaving the room for a LONG while, she came back with a new antibiotic for Mauri to try and some eye drops.  She told me to stop the other medicines and make an appointment for the next day.
Of course she wasn't working the next day so we saw Doctor #3.  She said it looked okay.  Just wanted us to waste our 30 bucks, I guess.
The next day, Dec 27,  Dr. Rose (her regular doctor) is still not back in the office & now her eye is red in the inside & gooey.  GREAT! I call Wee Care & they tell me they will call in a new medicine for me to try.  By this point I am totally frustrated & I snap at the poor receptionist & tell her nevermind.  (This is the 4th new medicine in a week & all have been prescribed by different doctors. Mauri's little insides were killing her!)  The receptionist catches me before I can hang up & tells me to come in & Doctor #4 will see me in the waiting room so I won't have a co-pay & she has a coupon so I can get a deal on the new medicine.  After an apology on my part, I agree to go in & Doctor #4 is actually really nice & reassuring that this new medicine will work.
The next day Dr. Rose is finally back so I call him to tell him what Mauri has been through.  He says he wants to see her.  He takes a look at her & all the different medicines she has been on & says she probably had an allergic reaction to the eye drop that was called in for her & the medicine that Doctor #3 prescribed was that same medicine in oral form. Also her ears are not clearing up at all, so he wants her to come back for the next 2 days to get shots to help clear it all up.

Our poor little angel started looking better after the shots & hopefully this is the last weird eye problem we have with her!

Christmas

We woke up Christmas Morning with one really excited little boy & one cyclops for a little girl!
But both were pretty excited!
Redd had a hard time waiting for his turn!
A few presents in, Mauri had a blow out.  There go the cute jammies!
Redd asked Santa for a Spiderman book and a garth mouth (mouth guard for his football helmet)
and Santa didn't disappoint!
Maurs got herself a fun little kitchen!
After opening presents, Redd and I went to church.  Dad stayed home with Mauri.
Redd got his cool new tie & wanted to wear it with his suit!
Despite Mauri's eye looking crazy, we still went out visiting our families.
The kids got spoiled as usual by Grandma Bonnie & Grandpa Jon. (I didn't take any pictures)
We also had a fun video chat with the California cousins.  We were fortunate enough to see them use the Smash Sticks we gave them.. sorry about that Kady!
Mauri slept most of the day and by about 7:00 Christmas night her eye was nearly swollen shut.
So while Judd stayed home and let Redd play with his new toys, Mauri and I went into the Doctor.

Christmas Eve

As usual, we had our Costley Christmas Eve Extravaganza.
We always have some yummy food & exchange gifts.
Redd and Jax showed up in matching shirts.
Mauri was a pretty happy girl at the beginning of the night!
(notice her left eye looks a little bit off)
Cooper gave Mauri a darling carriage with a Prince and a Princess
Redd was an animal this Christmas season.. he didn't want to wait to open anything! In fact, several times he tried to open Mauri's gift because she just wasn't fast enough for him.
Chloe gave him a Cars Mac Truck that shoots Lightning McQueen out the back.
He loved it so much, he carried it around for the next few days!

Griffin should get the award for best reaction to a present ever!
He was so pumped about getting his Yankee hat from Mauri!
Our Family!

By the time the kids got their jammies, Mauri was done!

Friend Christmas Party

This year for our friend Christmas Party, we decided to make it adults only.  Because it was a smaller group, Judd and I were able to have it at our house.  It was such a fun night with lots of laughs, some arguing over the long term career of Tim Tebow, and some fun games hosted by Rob. I just love my friends and it is so nice that our husbands can all get together and have a great time too!

Christmas Lights

A few weeks before Christmas we went with the Peterson family to Salt Lake to see the lights at Temple Square.  We met in Clearfield and rode the train.  Redd loved every minute of the train ride, even the super crowded ride home!
We went to a nice dinner, then bundled up and went over to the lights.
I got a few pictures of the kids all bundled up.  I tried to talk Judd into a picture but he refused.
Redd, Gage, Chase
After the lights we went over to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and looked down at the lights. What a beautiful sight & a fun night out with family!

Redd's Birthday

Redd wanted a Chipmunk party for his birthday this year.  Grandma Bonnie had bought him a Simon doll and she had the movie so he was obsessed.  Of course there was nothing out there for a chipmunk party so this is what we came up with..
We had a count down to the party on the chalkboard and Redd couldn't wait to write in the how many days till his birthday (if you look in the background at Mauri's Blessing you'll see the countdown)
Here he is before the party.. I made him a shirt with a big yellow "R"  & he wanted his hair in a spike so he could look more like Alvin. (Redd gave each kid who came one of these guitars as a thank you)
 The cupcakes!

The weather was awful the day of the party,so we all squished into the house.  But it still worked.. minus Uncle Clint's complaints!

I had the kids play a game for each chipmunk. Here is Redd playing "Pin the 'A' on Alvin".
The bigger kids playing "Simon Says"
And we used these pails and orange ping pong balls  to "Feed Theodore the Cheeseballs"
The prizes!
Redd getting ready to blow out his 3 candles! (You can't really see, but he made sure to pick an Alvin cupcake with red frosting)
He he is chillin after the party!
What a spoiled little boy!
