On Monday the 19th Mauri went in for a Well Child Check at her doctor. I had been concerned that her ears might be bothering her because earlier in the month she had an ear infection & I never thought she got over it. Sure enough, both ears were infected and looking worse than before, so the doctor sent her home with a stronger antibiotic.
As the week went on, Judd had noticed that Mauri's left eye wasn't looking quite normal. Thursday I called the doctor and told him about it and he said he would call me in a prescription for her eye and a numbing drop for her ear because it was still bothering her. We went to pick up the prescription on our way to a family party that night & it wasn't at the pharmacy. Mauri ended up with a fever & acted like she wasn't feeling well, so we left the party early.
In the morning I tried to call the doctor and he was out of the office for Christmas until Wednesday the 28th. PERFECT! I went ahead and called the after hours clinic & talked to that doctor who called her in some different medicine.
Saturday (Christmas Eve) her eye started looking progressively worse as the night went on & she was not acting like she felt good. Christmas day she woke up with her eye pretty swollen & slept most of the day. By that night her eye was almost swollen shut & red around the outside. I ended up taking her to Wee Care because it was the only non-emergency place open on Christmas. The doctor who saw her looked like she had been practicing medicine for a whole 10 minutes. She thinks it is a skin infection around her eye. After leaving the room for a LONG while, she came back with a new antibiotic for Mauri to try and some eye drops. She told me to stop the other medicines and make an appointment for the next day.
Of course she wasn't working the next day so we saw Doctor #3. She said it looked okay. Just wanted us to waste our 30 bucks, I guess.
The next day, Dec 27, Dr. Rose (her regular doctor) is still not back in the office & now her eye is red in the inside & gooey. GREAT! I call Wee Care & they tell me they will call in a new medicine for me to try. By this point I am totally frustrated & I snap at the poor receptionist & tell her nevermind. (This is the 4th new medicine in a week & all have been prescribed by different doctors. Mauri's little insides were killing her!) The receptionist catches me before I can hang up & tells me to come in & Doctor #4 will see me in the waiting room so I won't have a co-pay & she has a coupon so I can get a deal on the new medicine. After an apology on my part, I agree to go in & Doctor #4 is actually really nice & reassuring that this new medicine will work.
The next day Dr. Rose is finally back so I call him to tell him what Mauri has been through. He says he wants to see her. He takes a look at her & all the different medicines she has been on & says she probably had an allergic reaction to the eye drop that was called in for her & the medicine that Doctor #3 prescribed was that same medicine in oral form. Also her ears are not clearing up at all, so he wants her to come back for the next 2 days to get shots to help clear it all up.

Our poor little angel started looking better after the shots & hopefully this is the last weird eye problem we have with her!
