Hello lovely Peoples! This was a good story, I liked it, however, it isn’t my favorite book by this author.
Rodney and Jeremy Graeme are returning home early from WWII. Their family is very welcoming and supportive of the brothers.
During the darkest time of their lives, their faith sustains them, during their time in battle and they share their faith on several occasions. Rodney’s vicious ex-fiancee and her husband and a troublesome cousin are the antagonists.
The romance is tender and sweet and the ending is good. The story is nicely written. Enjoy!
Ian Rutledge is now Chief Inspector Ian Rutledge. He’s been promoted and his first case takes him to Northumberland. A man’s body has been washed ashore near a holy pilgrimage site. The church is concerned about the safety of the pilgrims visiting the location and the reputation of said church. As the other mysteries in the series, the plot in this mystery was definitely connected to WWI.
The village is a small tight knit community. The characters were likable, although some did not want him there.
I need to say, Rutledge certainly eats good. He has a hearty appetite. Hamish is still the voice in his head, but I thought, in this mystery, there was less of Hamish’s ramblings/opinions.
I liked the mystery and I was a little surprised at the ending.
I always try to read a series in order, however, this book can be read as a stand-a-lone. Enjoy!
Hello lovely Peoples. I chose this book because of the pretty cover art. I don’t get very excited about pink, but this is nice. The author transports the reader to a mysterious bookshop in Japan. The bookshop only appears during cherry blossom season. The visitors to the bookshop are grieving or have regrets. The owner, Sakura, and her interesting kitty cat, Kobako assist the visitors to reflect and heal through books.
This book is a nice, gentle, simple read, and the bookshop offers a reflective though whimsical experience. It will appeal to some. I can’t really say, I liked it, but I can’t say I didn’t like it.
Oh my word, lovely Peoples! I think this is the most mind-bending, the most psychological thriller I have ever read! I was so into this story!
So, two young people are murdered in Austin, Texas and the killings are connected to a virtual reality game. Jamie Hamilton has been accused of the murders and is arrested and jailed. I liked Jamie. He was a nice guy.
Angie Channing is a true crime writer. She isn’t convinced he is guilty of said crime. You go Angie, you solve that crime!
If you would like to think, really think, really really think . . . did I mention this book might just make you think. This might be your book. Read it and walk around confused.
Perception!
Reality!
Illusion!
Fractal Geometry!!! Is that even a thing??? It is! I researched it.
Hello lovely Peoples! It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood, yes it is. The sun is shinning and all is restful.
This book attracted my attention because of the lighthouse on the cover. I like lighthouses. So, when I see a lighthouse on the cover of a book, I check it out. I injured my poor body, so I read a big portion of the book yesterday, whilst I was resting.
This is a good one. The story surrounds a lighthouse on the shores of Lake Superior. At the beginning of each chapter, the author has a quote or partial quote from Edgar Allan Poe’s “Annabel Lee.” When I was in high school I had a speech class. The teacher required we each quote a poem and share our thoughts on said poem. I chose Annabel Lee. So, as a result of my past experience with Annabel, I became more interested in this book.
The author did a great job. It’s haunting, atmospheric, mysterious, with a good poetic quality and elements of horror. Love, loss, grief are explored in her book. It was well done.
I only had two problems with it. I didn’t care for Shea Radclyffe and I thought the story dragged a couple of times. It definitely kept my attention though and I will be reading this author in the future.
Good morning lovely Peoples! I met a friend early this morning at the bakery. We had a nice visit and caught up on many things.
Mr. Pottermack’s Oversight is an inverted detective story. The reader knows most of the facts from the beginning. The interest is on the detective and the suspense of solving the mystery. We already know the identity of the killer. It was clever. It kept my attention. There was a surprise or two. And! I was happy with the ending!
I have always enjoyed books by Charles Todd, especially the Ian Rutledge mysteries, so when I saw this book at a used bookstore, I didn’t want to pass it up. I’m glad I bought it. It is a standalone book.
The beloved grandfather of Francesca Hatton has passed away and her cousins have died in World War I. Francesca soon learns she has inherited everything that was Grandpa’s. After Grandfather is gone, a man knocks on the front door accusing Grandfather of murder, and the accusations continue. As Francesca plods her way through secrets and mystery, she learns Grandpa might not be the man she thought he was. Francesca has to deal with several family issues and the end of the book is a surprise. It has unanswered questions, which did not bother me. I enjoyed the book. It’s somewhat of a Gothic mystery. I liked it.
Good morning lovely Peoples! So! Bertie Wooster and Jeeves once again find themselves in another misadventure. Bertie has taken up the banjolere and is driving his neighbors nuts when he practices. He decides to move into a cottage in the country where he can practice without neighbors. Of course, there are shenanigans and mischief ahead. A misunderstanding, to say the least, occurs and Bertie is going to be forced into marriage!!! How rude! 👰🤵 More misunderstandings! And Jeeves, always ready to listen and assist in any way he can has a plan.
I do want to warn the reader. There is a racial slur in the story. Beware.
Happy Reading!
ATTEMPTED MOUNTAIN ABDUCTION by Jessca R. Patch
Well! The author transports the reader to the Smokey Mountains. Bridge Spencer has been hired to protect Molly, a tech mogul’s daughter. Molly is interesting. Wendy Dawson is also trying to protect young Molly. It’s a mess. Wendy and Bridge have a past. They have to set aside hurt and take care of Molly when they are attacked. The individuals with nefarious intent are relentless and they will do anything to take the top-secret technology her deceased father was working on. Mmm.
Get your boots on and warm clothes and plenty of nutritious snacks. The reader will need them as the characters run for their lives in this fast-paced suspense.
Hello lovely Peoples! I have been gone. That’s right, I’ve been at home sitting on my comfy sofa watching the Olympics! I’ve had very little time to even read a book. I did manage to finish reading, Thank-you, Jeeves, by P.G. Wodehouse. One day I will write a review . . . maybe . . . soon . . . after the Olympics . . . possibly. We shall see.
This might surprise you. It might leave you speechless. It might leave you in shock. You might ask, why Kathy why??? A very good question. Thank-you for asking. I have started to read Fairy Taleby Stephen King. *screaming*
I admit, it is completely out of character for me. I will tell the story of how this happened. I was at a business that I frequent and the employee said, she was reading Cell By Stephen King. She said, so many of her friends have read his books and so many people like his stories she decided to read one. She chose Cell because it sounded like it was more sci-fi than horror. Mmmm. I am not convinced???
However, she did inspire me!?!?!?! So, I have decided to read Fairy Tale. I mean, it’s a fairy tale, right? *ahem* It’s a boy and his dog. What could be nicer??? Someone said to me when I shared this, it is Stephen King.
I might have nightmares! I might dive under the bed! I might sit in the corner of the closet with a blanket over my head! I will survive, after all, it’s a fairy tale.
How is everyone? Warm? Safe? I made a New Year’s resolution this year. I rarely do. I’ve only remembered twice when a I have made a resolution. The first resolution ~ SUCCESS ~ all the way through December. The second resolution, I made it to August. This year I am creating lists. I have a journal and I am writing my lists in the journal. Makes sense. 😁
My sister asked me, well, what brought that on?
I answered, inspiration. 😁
The lists could be anything. I don’t need to create a list every day, jut once a week and I need to keep up with the project. Since I started, I have discovered that at times it turns into journaling. That’s ok. Not too much of a reach there.
I have been in the mood to bake recently. I made peach cobbler. 🍑 Yummy. I also made corn🌽 bread. My next baking project is brownies. 😋
Rick and I discovered the best sandwich shop/candy store. The little shop makes sandwiches, pizza and soup. We tried their cheese pizza, and it was the best I’ve ever had. Their sandwiches are works of art. *haha* I usually get a veggie sandwich. Rick orders the grilled cheese or BLT. I’ve tried their broccoli cheddar soup and a pasta soup they make, and both are very tasty. We eat there as frequently as we can. The candy side of the shop is loaded with candy, carmel apples and ice cream. I wait expectantly for summer. and ice cream. 🍦

The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone
I’m not sure what inspired me to read this book 🤔but here I am. I ordered it from inter library loan. It came all the way from a university in Pennsylvania. The book has more than 700 pages!!! I have it for 3 weeks. I read The Count of Monte Cristo in two weeks, so I should be able to do this. Has anyone read, The Agony and the Ecstasy? What are your thoughts?
I have been wittering on, is there such a word as wittering??? I’ve been wittering. I like it. Will go for now.
