Marvelous Michigan II

For some reason I can only use 5 photos today, and they are out of order. Any way the first one is Sophia playing in her Aunt Angie's back yard on July 4th. then us enjoying the fire works on the 3rd, and Sophia playing in the play house. In the last picture we are about to depart. I think she looks like she is very scared.

Marvelous Michigan I

Our little family decided that we needed to get out of town for a little while. We are fortunate to have family in Michigan. Jeff's sister and her family live there, and I am a little embarrassed to say that we had never even visited them. Jeff had been there once in high school when his sister got married, and I had never been at all. So we packed up our things, and when traveling with a two year old I think most people would be surprised by the shear volume of things that need to be packed. Everyone who has children knows that you simply cannot travel across country with out all eight animal shaped squirting bath toys. Sophia's favorite being the a-put-pus(translation for those who do not speak her language- octopus).
We left July fist and traveled six very long hours to the airport hotel. Sophia slept for about three of those hours. She usually gets very car sick, but a few nights before we left Jeff was speaking to a neighbor of ours who has a son with the same problem, and he said that we should try giving her half a motion sickness pill when we left the house. He said that she would either fall asleep, and stay asleep, or she wouldn't get sick. Either way our traveling with her would be much easier. We took his advise, and she fell asleep for the first three hours. It was great. Then she woke up, and that was a different story. She was wildly cranky, and tired of sitting in her car seat. She also kept making noises like she was going to throw up. Jeff told me she was just trying to get attention, and he was right, but still we have gotten very used to traveling with a bucket, as well as keeping a clean pair of clothes on hand, and to travel six hours through rough and bumpy winding mountain passes,I didn't exactly trust the motion sickness pills yet. We made it all the way without having to clean up a huge mess. My nerves were shot by the time we arrived, but that was to be expected.
I was up by four the next morning, and we where on the airport shuttle by seven. Our flight boarded at 10:45. Jeff checked in online the night before, and everything went very smoothly. In fact things went so smoothly that we were at our gate two hours early. Sophia had lots of activities stuffed in her little back pack. Jeff and I bought some magazines, and the time went quickly. Everything worked out perfectly. Sophia drank her bottle with motion sickness pill about five minutes before we got on the airplane. She fell asleep right after take off, and continued to sleep for most of the flight. She was awake for the last half hour, and it was kind of a rough ride. A baby sitting in the row in front of us got sick, and I think Sophia would have too, so I was very glad that we gave her the motion sickness pill. We landed in the late after noon, and as soon as we found our bags we saw Angie walk into the airport. We were all very happy to see her.
I'll post a few pictures soon to help tell the rest of the story, but for right now I think this is long enough.

Quick Update

Wow! I really need to do a new post, so since the last post the house we were living in foreclosed. It went to action two days before Sophia's birthday party. Nobody bought it of course, and it was returned to the bank. Since we were the tenants we were given until June 1, 2010, and then we had to be out. It was kind of sad to move. I had grown attached to that little house, but we found a nice little condo, and things are starting to shape up.
There are still boxes to be unpacked, but at least the few that are left are mostly decorative items, and they are hidden away in closets.
I also have one more huge project that needs my attention. I am super sentimental about almost everything, but especially my clothes. I remember what I wore on what day, and that usually makes me very happy, but lately I look in my closet, and I feel the need to simplify. I am just sick of looking at all that junk! I think maybe I am growing up, because I no longer care if I even fit back into my size 0 jeans. They are so gone. After having Sophia my bone structure has changed. My hip bones are too wide now, so see you in hell my friend! Yes, getting rid of all these clothes is going to be cathartic! I can't wait.
Otherwise I am really enjoying our new home. Sophia and I are taking care of several little garden boxes, but that is another story for another day. I have been sweeping our front steps, which is an ancient secret to have a peaceful, and successful life. I'm not just kidding this is for real. It is meant to clear the mind, and help you organize your life. It also attracts good Chi(life force, energy, spirit). I think that is pretty much everything for now, but I will be posting again soon.
