Liberty's 5th!

Libby is such a fun quirky girl! She's quite the hilarious little fashionista and queen middle-child. She doesn't care for camping or hiking or going for walks, but she loves swimming. She hates loud noises, especially fireworks, but somehow manages to be louder than all of her siblings put together. She keep us laughing and we don't know what we'd do without her!

This boy is heart-broken that he can't go to kindergarten next year with his Libby, and Libby is heart-broken that she has to move into the older girls bedroom so the boys can share a room. They've been special friends this year.

While the girls were in school we took her on a date with just mom and dad. She chose her favorite Chic-a-flay and loved being an only child for a couple of hours. I forgot the camera.

Mothers Day

Mothers Day
This year for Mothers Day Kellan gave me flowers and made me girl-food for dinner. By himself. I picked a recipe and he kicked me out of the kitchen. I have to admitt it was hard for me not to keep checking up on him and interfering. I really didn't need to worry though because it was completely delicious! The kids hated it, but we loved it. Kellan told them they had to pretend to like it because I make them their favorites all the time when I would rather eat something else. It was funny to see their feeble efforts there. It was pasta with a lemon cream alfredo-ish sauce and arugula. It was a Barefoot Contessa recipe. I think it was called Lemon Cream Fussili or something fancy like that.
I'm sad because I kept meaning to get a picture of me and my babies, but it just didn't happen. I'm so blessed to be their mom, and Kellan is just amazing. Its really because of him that I get to try to be the mom I want to be. He helps me get back up and keep going whenever I screw things up and get discouraged. He reminds me why I love it and why its worth it when I feel like thowing in the towel.

Soccer

Back in the Fall Anne came home dejected because everyone else in the world was on a soccer team execpt her. I explained that we'd like to get her in soccer or something soon, but it cost money, dad was doing grad school, etc. but I promised her we'd look into it soon. She demanded a deadline so I vaguely said maybe next year. What I meant was the end of next year, as in when grad school would be over. Well, sure enough mid-January came along and she brought home a flyer for spring soccer sign-ups and announced that it was "next year". I wasn't sure it was a good idea. It would be all of April and May- the months of finals and moving- which meant I would possibly be on my own to get her to and from practice and games. Ugh. I really didn't want to. Plus Sara had decided if Anne got to then she had to so that meant two teams and two practice/game schedules. Yikes. But I felt bad so I called just to get the particulars of where and how often and found out they could be on the same team and it was really only about three hours a week.

Well, we decided to just go for it and I'm so glad we did. They had a great coach and the other girls were really nice with not-too-crazy parents. Kellan actually ended up being able to help coach in spite of finals so it turned into a family thing. That is Kellan and the girls did soccer and I chased down the other three. Kellan only ened up missing two games and actually coached two by himself. I was worried because they had never played before and that they wouldn't be very good. They learned and improved so much though and Kellan was an amazing coach. Kellan especially loved it I think. I'm so glad that we could let them do it even though at first it seemed impossible.

They both loved defense. Anne particularly loved being goalie. She's pretty good too. Also, it was good for her to learn to have fun even when they were loosing (they lost a lot especially at first) And Sara loved being a defender. She's so sensitive I was sure she'd be hysterical every time she got knocked down but she really surprised us. She'd get right in the throng of kids and turned out to be quite the little fighter. It was so fun to see them learn and figure out what they're good at and like to do.

Good things come to those who wait. For reals.

Welllllll I have two birthdays and soccer to catch up on, but... sometimes I just want to fill in whats happening now.

Once upon a time Kellan decided he wanted a Masters of Science and Human Resources so he miraculously got accepted and worked his bum off for two full-time bone cracking semesters. Throughout the school year he applied and interveiwed for summer internships over and over again. And.... nothing. Literally everyone else in his class had something lined up by the first week of May. Everyone. And then just when it looked like Kellan was doomed to Maceys for-e-ver, he got an internship! In Tempe Arizona with Freeport-McMoran! And then we realized we'd have to buy a car that could make it to Arizona. So we bought a SUV, put most of our stuff in storage, loaded up and drove down all within 17 days. Whew.

We drove to Beaver the first day and stayed with Kellans grandparents and stopped along the way in Nephi to see my sweet grandpa and my aunt and uncle. They had golf cart to take spins around the yard in and ice cream. I really wish we could have stayed longer!

Although chicken nuggets and frys were unavoidable, they snacked on sugar snap peas, baby carrots, grape tomatoes, grapes and raw green beans most of the way both days and were much happier for it. So there's that discovery.

Kellan laid on top of that roof bag while my dad zipped it up. We may have overpacked a bit. Maybe.

The kids did surpisingly well considering the amount of time they spent cooped up together. There were certainly moments when Kellan and I wanted to send them back where they came from, but overall they were pretty great kids.

We also stopped in Henderson NV to make some sandwiches and see an old mission buddy of Kellan's. They're the kind of people I wish we could have for neighbors. Although I don't know if they'd feel the same. I may have left a poopy diaper in the middle of their kitchen floor because just as I was going to ask where to throw it away Truman walked out of their bathroom stark naked and distracted me. So I forgot about the poopy diaper until we were a couple of hours down the road. It was fun to meet them though!

First day of the internship! Looking hot in his buisness casual duds. Yay for no more nasty Maceys polo!

So the internship lasts 10 weeks about and then Kellan only has 2 classes left which he can do online, so really anything can happen. Everyone keeps asking us where we're going at the end of the summer and honestly we have no idea to which people say something like "Wow! Thats faith!" but really its not since it was a helluva lot better than the alternate plan that was for me to move in with my parents while Kellan crashed at my sisters and continued the Macey's death march while doing "free" internships on the side. So really, we'll take black hole of possible nothingness over eternal Macey's any day. But really we hope that this internship just turns into a real job and we can just settle down and live happily ever after.
