I just remembered we have a blog.

Shockingly, I am posting a blog blurb! This blog has been sorely neglected--I blame it entirely on instagram (better said, it's not my fault). Since I can't locate my itouch, I've decided to fall back on my old pal, almost a relic of the past, the blog. It's only been a year and a half. What can happen in that itty bitty amount of time? Well, for the sake of all involved, I won't try to summarize. However, I do want to put up some pics of recent events.

And on to exciting events of the last month or so:

In mid-November, we had a fun visit from my friend Shannon, my cousin Clarissa, and Clarissa's little girl, Felicity. Shannon and Clarissa played in a soccer tournament and won it all! Such good times with these ladies.

Miles had a belated Harry Potter sleepover, complete with nerdy glasses craft and backyard flashlight scavenger hunt. Everyone seemed to do fine sleeping in the fort...except for Miles, who came in our room at 10 to ask if he could just sleep in his own bed because the kids were keeping him up. What a grandpa! (No offense to grandpas who may be reading this.)

Miles's favorite b-day present: Daisy Sleepyface Dinuea Dig Isakson. He's getting better and better at taking care of her, and figuring out her favorite things...
...like burrowing in piles of leaves when I'm raking.
With the weather cooling down a bit, the kids are trying to keep occupied with indoor activities. They decided to make a natural history museum. It's clearly still in construction but has possibly been abandoned.

Summer comings and goings...

The other day, as we drove through our desert city, roasting in the 100 degree weather, a song that came on in my car almost brought tears to my eyes: If everybody has an ocean across the USA then everybody'd be surfin' like Californ-I-A. Oh how I pined for a beach! Alas, one is not conveniently located, so we've had to occupy our summer with less salty and sandy activities. But we're still managing to have fun :)

Brian's parents came for a nice visit and helped me out while Brian was back east for work. We had a great time with them and the boys LOVED their special "Baba and Popi dates."
Brian brought back some revolutionary army guys and props from his work trip, so the boys have been into setting up battles. Otis decided to create an edible war scene the other day: snap peas versus almonds. Almonds were the bad guys.
Some battles were on land, others at sea...using pea pod boats.
My parents came to town for a while, and they were super helpful and fun. My dad helped us with backyard landscaping. Just what someone should do on vacation!
My parents, aunts and uncles came over for brunch one morning. It was great seeing them! Here is my mom (far right) with three of her sisters (and two wild photo crashers).
Boys having fun with the Bridge kids--they even make eating fruit exciting!
Miles (middle, back row) tae-kwon-do-ing. He's loving it.
We had a fun (but short) camping trip with our friends from church. Not unlike dogs who've been cooped up for days on end, the boys ran around crazily for the first while and settled into steady, constant adventure/explore mode.

And we just had a great visit from Auntie Elin last weekend. She's somethin' else, that Elin!
We have lots more adventures planned for the summer: trips to Utah and California and more local hiking and camping. Summer rules!

Our spring birthday boys!!!

Charlie enjoyed his #3 birthday pancake with sprinkles--yippy!
Otis received THREE lego sets for his 5th birthday at the end of March, and he put them all together by himself! What a champ!

Charlie (and his big helpful bros) had fun opening presents.
Yesterday, we had a birthday party for Brian and Charlie at the park. Lots of friends...
A cake with LOTS going on (all decor requested by Charlie)...
More friends...
...and our friend Nadia (in the middle) even came from Saipan to celebrate their birthdays!
Today Brian turned 37. Zoinks! We ate a high-protein breakfast because Brian loves to get his protein, he opened some presents, and tonight we had a chili dog dinner. We'll do more celebrating this week I'm sure. I predict 37 will be a great year for our dear sweet Bri-bri!

Thanksgiving

Grandma and Grandpa Allen came to Albuquerque for Thanksgiving, and we had lots of fun with them: wrestling Grandpa at every opportunity,
 being chased by Grandpa,
eating turkey and other yummy stuff,
visiting the Farm and Ranch Historical Museum and other fun attractions in Las Cruces,
adding feathers to  our "Thankful Albu-turkey,"
making a gingerbread choo-choo with Grandma,
and lots of frolicking in the leaves out back.
Not pictured above: all the help my parents did around the house. Thanks for a great visit, Mom and Dad A!

I Heart Miles' Smiles

Miles is really into the science center he received for his birthday and just finished the dino dig today. And he's now lost 3 teeth. I love the little change in his articulation, especially when he tries talking about Ghostbusters--those "st" combos are pretty tricky with big holes in your teeth!

Miles' 7th Bday Festivities!

Miles had a Ghostbusters birthday party on Saturday. It was rad, minus the bad weather. It was supposed to be a Ghostbusters' Hot Dog Roast, but it was WAY too cold and windy to have a fire in the backyard. Here is his slimed cake (used vanilla bark and melted chocolate to make the  logo).
They watched a couple of closely edited clips from the movie...
...ate lunch including hot dogs and green slime punch...
...made Stay Puft marshmallow man hats (only lasted minutes on their heads)...
...and created edible marshmallow men (and one horse thing) to take home.
They also played a couple games, then spent the remainder of the party time running around crazily. A fun time was had by all--except maybe for the big people who had to make sure that "running around crazily" didn't equate total destruction to the house!

We always do special sprinkled number pancakes for the boys' bday morning breakfasts. Can't believe this guy is 7 already!
He had fun reading his candy gram and opening presents.
Overall, he had super fun birthday festivities, including going to Fuddruckers followed by a mommy date to the swimming pool!

Inspired by conference

Since "I Love to See the Temple" is one of the most requested bedtime songs at our house, I made the kiddos temple sandwiches (though they thought they were birthday cake sandwiches) between sessions during General Conference.

And Miles made a temple out of legos. He's awesome!
