Last week of January 2009

Last week of January 2009

Hello, can you all believe it is the last day of January? I can not believe how time flies. This past week has been an interesting one here on Squash Blossom. Saturday it began to snow and it snowed all weekend and all day Monday-Wednesday. It was Crazy.
Monday, Robbie had a Dentist appointment. It took us over 45 minutes to get from our house to the dentist office. Can you say Crazy. I decided to keep the boys home from school cause I didn't want to travel anymore (I so dislike driving in the snow) so when we got home we hooked a sled up to the 4 wheeler and off we went on a fun little ride. Tuesday, School was cancelled do to all of the snow, neg. 25 degree temps. and crazy wind. Tuesday night I had signed up to take rolls to the Missionaries for their zone conference. Well the boys and I started off to take the rolls, we made it out of the driveway, and headed onto the road and we got stuck in a snow drift that when I got out of the car I sunk to my knees. (gotta love the wind) I proceed to walk home get a shovel and I start trying to dig myself out. Thankfully I have some nice people that live in Wyoming ( I seem to be the one who is need of service recently) anyway 2 guys stop in 2 different trucks, it takes 1 truck pushing the car and 1 truck pulling the car to get us out. Wednesday, school was cancelled for half a day again do to weather. Thursday, must have been uneventful cause I don't remember much about it. Friday, we spent the day getting ready for today.
Saturday, was snow days. What is snow days? Snow days is where all of the cub scouts get together on top of the mountain and make snow sculptures. They have to design the snow, sculpt it and then paint it. It was rather a fun and enjoyable day.
I put the pictures on here via a slide show at the bottom of this so I hope you all enjoy our week in the snow.

We love you all.

What a weekend!!!

Okay, so I just have to let you all know that it has been snowing and it has been for 3 days straight. The weatherman says that it is supposed to continue through Tuesday. Some huge snow totals by the end of it. This last week has been crazy. I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. Come to find out that it was all done unnoticed. We had the missionaries over for dinner on Friday night. They are rather fun 2 of the 3 are from Utah, which makes it fun to talk with them. Jeannette came over on Friday and we tied a quilt. She is amazing at sewing them. As from the picture you can see we also had company. Kennen's brother Chris came to visit for Saturday night, which was a lot of fun. Wish he could have stayed longer.
We also took our kids to PlayHouse Disney Live. We attended this on Sunday afternoon at the Casper Event Center. I feel very lucky to live in the event area of Wyoming so that we don't have to travel. Sid had a great time, there was Handy Manny. That is way cool huh mom.
As you can see from the picture we went with Jeannette and the kids, which was fun. I even got to hold and snuggle Linsey.

So, Robbie is trying not to smile or look like he is having a good time. Do you think he fooled anyone?

This is the stage before it all started. Just had to have a proof picture.

Look at the boys. How serious can you be???? With Kennen and Chris together not very.
I hope that you all had a good week and I hope that you all stay warm. We love you and keep safe tell next week.

A DAY OFF OF SCHOOL AND WORK

Today was a day off of school. It was also Kennen's day off of work which worked out great. We went with some friends and launched a rocket. Yes, we got to launch a rocket on Jan.19 in Wyoming. It was 50 degrees and hardly any wind. It was LOVELY. This is the guys and the kids getting the rocket ready for lift off.

This is Robbie being Robbie. He says he hates his picture taken so this is what I get. Someday he will look at this and think why did I give my mom such a hard time about pictures.
This is our Sid, he is acting like Sid. :) We love his fun personality. Can you see the shaggy hair????

Okay.....Who does this picture remind you of? Kennen and I laughed and laughed at how much the face expression was so much like Robbie. So not a Sid face. Where did he go???

Here he is, now that is the Sid we all love.
Our week was good. Sid had some oral surgery this last week which was a hard thing but thankfully we only have one more time to go. The next surgery will be Feb. 18 (Happy Birthday Daddy, you get to fix teeth) Robbie had a dentist appointment as well, we go back this week for him to fill a cavity. I just love the dentist office, after all of the work is done maybe they will give me a job.
I was informed by Bill Hickens that his and Kennens birthday is in 29 days. Who's counting anyways? Oh yeah Bill is.....
We hope you all have a wonderful week. We are sure going to try. We have loved the weather, for all of you in Utah. It has been wonderful, you should come here to get out of the cold. Like I said it was 50 degrees today. It is supposed to be nice through Friday and then nice again on Sunday. Yea!!!! I love nice weather. (it was 12 degrees in Springville when I checked tonight and 36 in Casper) I am not rubbing it in or anything. Love you all.

Our last week of vacation. :)

Our Sledding Trip. We had so much fun. Thanks Jeannette for inviting us to go. This picture is of Hayley and Jackson Berg

This is Robbie with Hayley following close behind.
This is Robbie.

This is Sid having so much fun. Isn't he cute???

This picture is Jeannette, Jackson, Linsie, Hayley, baby Becca, Stacy and Abby.

okay so this last week was the last week of vacation for Robbie. He starts school tomorrow. YIPPY!!!! wait I am not excited. I am so ready for the regular routines to start back up again.

Sid had to go to school all week. He didn't like that cause, "Mom Robbie isn't going to school why do I?" Since Robbie got to stay home with mom we were able to go to lunch and get cokes. But, he found out what it is like to stay home and clean, do laundry and run Sid back and forth to school.

On Thursday, Jeannette and Stacy and their kids came over so that the adults could play on the Wii. We were dancing with DDR. We had a blast and a great workout. We decided that we should do that more often.

On Friday Jeannette, Stacy and I took the kids sledding. It was so much fun. I have the pictures to show you all. Robbie went to the top of the hill the very first run. (okay heres the deal, none of the men there were going to the top of the hill. This should have been a clue to the 9 year old. Right????) Anyway, he proceeded to climb. I turned to Stacy and said he is going to get hurt. He came down the hill laying on the sled so he was going super fast hit a jump, still laying and landed on his back. He proceded to start crying and saying his back is broken. Being the mean mom I told him to get up and go sit in Jeannettes truck until he quite crying or until we were done sledding. He came back out and decided that 1/4 of the way up the hill was enough. Sid had a blast and didn't want to leave, nor did he want to share the sled cause he was having way to much fun.

On Saturday one of my friends from Price came to visit us. It was so fun to see her since we haven't seen each other since Kennen and I got married. They stayed here for the weekend which was so very much fun.

We hope that you all had a great week. Love you all.

It is Tuesday.

Hello to you all. Today is Tuesday. I shouldn't be excited but guess what???? Tonight is Robbie's scouts. I was able to help with the activity. That so excites me. I miss scouts a ton.

Everyone is doing good. Sid started school on Monday and Robbie doesn't start until next Monday. We were able to celebrate Ashleighs birthday with her, via the phone. It was fun.

Kennen made it home on Sunday night. He got the car fixed yesterday, it was his day off. So, I have a car again.

Layla, I loved your uncle Jay. How funny is that???

I hope this finds you all well. Happy Tuesday to you. We love each of you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLEIGH!!!

Happy Birthday!!! today is my Ashleighs birthday. YIPPY!!!! I just want her to know how much I love and appreciate her. She is one amazing person and I am glad that I get to call her my friend. She has taught me so much. I am glad she is there for me whenever I call her.
I am so glad that I was able to spend 3 weeks straight with her. She was there with me painting, packing, loading and we even went and played. (for the move)

I want you to know Ashleigh that you have helped me and taught me in more ways than you will ever know. Thank you for being my friend.

Thank you for being the second mom to the boys. Sid loves his Ashleigh. Sometimes I think it is more than me. Like when he gets hurt and says "no mom I want to talk to Ashleigh". We love you so very much.

We hope that you have a wonderful birthday. Enjoy the present. I know you will love it. :)
We love you and want you to know how important and special you are to my family.

Happy New Years!!!

Happy New Years to you all. I usually don't write in the middle of the week but I found our experience today blog worthy.

Here it goes. Kennen got called to work at 5 am this morning. They told him to pack a bag cause he would be gone a couple of days. I was mad and stewed about that until about 9 and then got out of bed and got on the computer to see what fun things the boys and I could do. Well I came up with this brilliant plan to go to Thermopolis. I called Jeannette and Ron and asked if they would like to join us. They said sure we would love to go. We met at noon and off we went. We got between Shoshoni and Thermopolis and my car would not steer anymore, I was going through tunnels and curves without steering and then it just died. Thankfully there was a wide spot to roll off into. I sat there for about 5 mins. thinking Ron and Jeannette will surely see that I am no longer behind them. Then I sat in the car and the boys and I said a quick prayer. A nice family pulled over to help. The kids took me to the reservoir and the mom stayed with the boys. (yes I trusted a stranger with my kids on the side of the road) They took me so that we could get phone service. I tried to call Jeannette knowing that she probably didn't have service either. So I called Kennen. He laughed and said this is an adventure you could only have in Wyoming.

I started to cry at that point cause that is not what I wanted to hear. I wanted him to say something comforting. So he tells me to see if these people would help me get to Thermopolis so that I could get a motel room, a tow truck and a mechanic. ( I was mad at that cause I have a mechanic and he got called into work). By the time we got back to the car Jeannette was there, she had a strong impression and they turned around. She had the feeling as I was saying a prayer. Amazing what the spirit can do. Anyway, Ron gets into the car and gets it turned around. He is able to get it started and only goes about a mile and it is dead again. We hook up the tow ropes and off we go. We get to the rest stop about an hour out of Casper and have to pull over it is getting dark and the battery to the car has died. Ron is freezing and we can not see him anymore. We leave the car at the rest stop, take out the battery and head home.

I am so greatful that Ron and Jeannette were with me today. I am thankful for the time that they took to stay with me and help me through this. I am thankful that they are willing to come and get me in the morning so that we can go and finish our adventure.

I just want you Ron and Jeannette to know how much I appreciate you and how much I love you guys. Thank you!!! Thank you for being my friends, thank you for helping me, thank you for everything. Thank you Ron for having such a good attitude and a great sense of humor about our whole adventure.(we could have said some fun things while we were at dinner he he 2 women 5 kids?) You are a wonderful man. Thanks for putting up with me and my boys. :)
