Happy New Years to you all. I usually don't write in the middle of the week but I found our experience today blog worthy.
Here it goes. Kennen got called to work at 5 am this morning. They told him to pack a bag cause he would be gone a couple of days. I was mad and stewed about that until about 9 and then got out of bed and got on the computer to see what fun things the boys and I could do. Well I came up with this brilliant plan to go to Thermopolis. I called Jeannette and Ron and asked if they would like to join us. They said sure we would love to go. We met at noon and off we went. We got between Shoshoni and Thermopolis and my car would not steer anymore, I was going through tunnels and curves without steering and then it just died. Thankfully there was a wide spot to roll off into. I sat there for about 5 mins. thinking Ron and Jeannette will surely see that I am no longer behind them. Then I sat in the car and the boys and I said a quick prayer. A nice family pulled over to help. The kids took me to the reservoir and the mom stayed with the boys. (yes I trusted a stranger with my kids on the side of the road) They took me so that we could get phone service. I tried to call Jeannette knowing that she probably didn't have service either. So I called Kennen. He laughed and said this is an adventure you could only have in Wyoming.
I started to cry at that point cause that is not what I wanted to hear. I wanted him to say something comforting. So he tells me to see if these people would help me get to Thermopolis so that I could get a motel room, a tow truck and a mechanic. ( I was mad at that cause I have a mechanic and he got called into work). By the time we got back to the car Jeannette was there, she had a strong impression and they turned around. She had the feeling as I was saying a prayer. Amazing what the spirit can do. Anyway, Ron gets into the car and gets it turned around. He is able to get it started and only goes about a mile and it is dead again. We hook up the tow ropes and off we go. We get to the rest stop about an hour out of Casper and have to pull over it is getting dark and the battery to the car has died. Ron is freezing and we can not see him anymore. We leave the car at the rest stop, take out the battery and head home.
I am so greatful that Ron and Jeannette were with me today. I am thankful for the time that they took to stay with me and help me through this. I am thankful that they are willing to come and get me in the morning so that we can go and finish our adventure.
I just want you Ron and Jeannette to know how much I appreciate you and how much I love you guys. Thank you!!! Thank you for being my friends, thank you for helping me, thank you for everything.
