There has been a lot of discussion at our house about what happens when one dies. In the picture I posted is my dear friend Kirstin with my little Sidders. This dear friend just passed away and it has been very hard. Kirstin is the one we go to movies with, she and I take each other on dates. We were able to go see Carrie Underwood together and also The Chorus Line. We talked often and she would send me happy texts through out the week. So since the hearing of her passing the boys have asked what happens when one dies....
Thankfully, we have the knowledge of what happens when we die. We have the knowledge of eternal families.. We know that when one passes away that it is not a bad thing. That the one who passes away enters into the spirit world. What is the spirit world? well the spirit world is a place of waiting, working, learning, and, for the righteous, resting from care and sorrow. Our spirits will live there until we are ready for our resurrection. Then our mortal bodies will once more unite with our spirits, and we will receive the degree of glory we have prepared for. President Ezra Taft Benson said: "Sometimes the veil between this life and the life and the life beyond becomes very thin. Our loved ones who have passed on are not far from us"
The prophet Alma in the Book of Mormon taught about 2 divisions or states in the spirit world: (I am only going to talk about one) "The spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow."
I am thankful to have known Kirstin. What a wonderful example she was to me and the boys. She was one of the most unselfish people I have met. She did yard work all summer for those who couldn't.. she worked with the kiddos at the child development center and loved them.. she thought of others and helped them even when she was exhausted.. she tutored many who needed help... she was an amazing person and I am a better person for knowing her. One day when I grow up I want to be a touch of how Kirstin was. ( Cause I can't be her cause she was her ) We love you Kirstin and will miss you so very very much.
