because I have a moment

Over 3 months...really??? Hum, well here is the update:

We had Christmas
{funny story I have to remember about Kayden Christmas list....every year we read the Elf on the Shelf and bring out Marty our elf.  On Kayden's list this year was "Marty Number 2".  I said, Kaydn, I don't think they make a Marty Number 2 and she said, "but this list is for Santa and he will just make it for me"}

Kayden's 6th Birthday
{Kayden, please know that even though I am not doing a special birthday post just for you, it does not mean your birthday is less special then your sisters...it just means your mom has been a looser at this blog and your dad keeps asking when I am going to update it.  Thank you, and I love you very very much...Mom}

Valentines Day
{which was celebrated with the girls a few days early cause Michael and I went on a cruise.  No the cruise was not for valentines, it was actually to celebreate our anniversary back in October that we didn't do anything for cause Kynz was only like 4 weeks old}

Cruise to Cozumal

Just for fun moments

Kyler was potty trainted
{we potty trained Kyler at 20 months which was not easy, but I refused to give up once I stated.  The first day was great with only 2 accidents and then every day after that we seemed to have more and more; then on the 19th day (yes, I remember exactly) it happened...she just seemed to get it.  So proud of you Kyler!}

Kynzie had her first bite

We had Spring Break fun

And there you have it...the past three months in the smallest nutshell I could make :)  Here's to hoping I keep this updated more regularly.

The Last Day of {this} Life

This =

5:00am: wake up and get self ready
5:45: pour 3 glasses of milk and leave on counter (so I am not trying to pour milk while holding baby)
5:47: go upstairs and wake up kayden and kaylee
5:50: girls are finally moving and getting dressed
5:55: meet girls in bathroom and brush teeth and hair
6:10: wake up kyler, grab clothes for her and baby and head down stairs, put clothes in diaper bag
6:12: warm milk from earlier and distribute to children
6:15: get kynzie and feed her (while feeding I am also helping big girls put on jackets and shoes)
6:30: burp kynzie
6:33: change kynzie's bum, change kyler's bum
6:37: grab diaper bag, purse, my lunch, kyler and kynzie (big girls can walk...well, so can kyler but if I let her walk she likes to play a chasing game and I don't have time for that in the mornings).  Load 4 kids in car
6:42: pull out of drive way
6:47: arrive at early morning school, unload 4 kids from car, hold Kyer and Kynzie, drop kaylee off to her class, drop kayden off to her class, load kyler and kynzie back in the car
6:55: leave early morning school and drive to mother-in-laws
7:20: arrive at mother-in-laws, unload kyler from car, grab diaper bag, unload kynzie from car, take kiddos inside, give a quick run down of kyler's and kynzie's morning temperment to mother-in-law, give kisses to my babies and get back in car
7:25: take a deep breath (cause I am already worn out) and head to work

5:40: meet dad in Kitchen, who has already started dinner, and help him get dinner on table
5:50: give kynzie to dad and put kyler in high chair, start eating
6:10: finish my dinner and start cleaning up.
6:30: start working on homework with Kayden and carry on 4 conversations at the same time for the rest of the evening because no one has enough time to get in everything they want to say.  It goes something like this, "hey babe, how was your day, mama mama mama, yes kyler, mom, I was telling you something, yes, kayden, I am listening, mommy, mommy, mommy, hold on kayden, kaylee needs a turn to talk, mama mama mama, yes kyler, yeah babe, I am listening, that sounds good, ok kayden, I heard you, coming kaylee, mama mama mama, hi kyler, waaaaa, hi kynzie, I have not forgotten about you sweet girl, ok, babe, wow kayden that sounds like fun, really kaylee, you did, mama mama mama, yes kyler I am listening to you too...." you get the idea

7:15: go downstair and distribute milk

8:05: clean up whatever has collected on kitchen counter, wipe down counters, oven, fridge door, wipe off microwave door, sweep kitchen floors
8:20: sweep remaining floors
8:25: pick up whatever toys did not get picked up from eariler, hang up jackets, straighten shoes, straighten pillows on couches
8:35: put clothes in dryer and take clothes out of dryer that were put in there night before

10:30: get in bed
10:31: remember that I have forgotten to go back upstairs and turn off light in girls room
10:33 get back in bed

And that my friends is the life I am leaving...the life of a working mom.  Obviously I left out a bunch of stuff that Michael does because while I am doing all of this, he is also doing things.  I would like my girls to know how much I have appreciated there patience during this time because this fast pace life of constantly moving is not easy on them...you notice above I really only get 25 min a day to chat with them, but that is 25 min they have to share with 3 other siblings.

Being a stay at home mom has its challanges, just as the working mom life does.  Not one life is harder then the other, each has it's good and bad points, but I am really excited to start a new chapter.  Ever since the day Kayden was born I have been dreaming of being a stay at home mom and I am so blessed to have the opportunity.

The purpose of documentating my day is simply for a reminder to myself, a reminder of the life I left and why I choose to leave.  25 min a day devoted to only my childern is not enough, not even close to enough and though it will be hard to be chasing children all day instead of having adult conversations, it is more then worth it.  I am so so so excited.

Thank you Michael for being so supportive and for working so hard so that I can be home.  I lujua.

Thrown

Once upon a time my brain worked well (once it worked really well, but Ill take just well); I could remember things, maybe I remembered them late, but hey, at least I remembered. Today, not so much; apparently my brain only had the capacity to handle a full-time job and a family of 5 because baby #4 has done it. Our extremely sweet and perfect baby has successfully thrown me off my course completely.

I can't even count the number of times a day I loose my keys, or the number of the times I have to go back into the house for something after everyone is loaded in the car. Girl scouts meetings have been missed a few times and one time both Michael and I almost forgot to pick Kayden up from girl scouts (not cause we forgot about her, but because we forgot about the meeting altogether and she goes with the troop straight from school). Today I got into the office and saw an email with the subject line "Please don't forget about me"...probably because the person asked me for something and then reminded me twice after to send it to her (that is the last time I promise someone something 10 min after they ask for it). Tuesday Kaylee had to remind me about the book I promised her to read, but sadly I forgot and there was no time, and Wednesday the same scenario played out with Kayden...again, I had promised and ran out of time.

These examples are nothing...I could go on and on all day cause there is not one thing I do that makes me remember I have forgotten about something else. I realize it happens when your a mom, I started experiencing forgetfulness after baby #1, but now I have an extreme case. A standing ovation to the women with 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 14, 18 children...you are amazing!

And this my friends is my excuse for the lack of blogging, for not even announcing baby #4 was born and how much we love her. For no pictures of Halloween festivities, Thanksgiving festivities and all the things in between.

Ahhh...a Vacation!

Too bad I was not invited.

With Kayden starting big school this year, Michael wanted to start a new tradition of taking the girls on a mini-trip whenever they start a new chapter in school (elementary, middle, high and college)....the tradition kicked off with a trip for two to San Antonio.
Michael picked Kayden up from school early on Friday and they made it to San Antonio around 5. They went to the wax museum, Ripley's Believe it or not, Tower of the America's and had dinner on the river walk. Saturday they had an "amazing breakfast" and then the tomb rider and river walk boat tour.

There trip was cut a little short because about 2 weeks after we planned it, Kayden got an invitation for her best friends birthday party, which as you can guess, cannot be missed (especially because the party was not on a Sunday)...luckily it was on Saturday night so they could still go as originally planned; just had to come back a little earlier (which in talking to both of them was not necessarily a bad thing cause both there feet hurt from walking).

I love watching Michael plan daddy daughter stuff...really cannot get any cuter!

August 24th

August 24th was a pretty darn big day in our house, such a big day, in fact, it was worthy of the most coveted vacation day for both me and Michael (vacation days are precious you know...they must be used wisely).
We kicked off the morning with a hardy bowl of coco crispies and carnation instant breakfast to send the girls off the school. Not just any school day though...today was the first day of "big school" for Kayden. We could call it her first day of kindergarten, but whereas she did kindergarten last year at a private school, it was much more exciting to refer to this day as the first day of "big school". So why the repeat of kindergarten you ask???? Well, basically because the only way for her to move on to first grade was to find a private school that accepted a first grader not based on age, oh, and a little thing called money. Apparently in our area of Houston, enrolling in kindergarten and first grade is based strictly on age, unless you find a private school that will accept a child based on skill level and not age. Anyway, Kayden was excited for big school and we were excited to not pay for private schooling anymore :)
Not only was it the first day of big school for Kayden, but it was the first kay of pre-kindergarten for Kaylee. Kaylee didn't move schools from where she went to pre-school, but now that she is in pre-kindergarten she has to wear a uni-form and she is old enough to go on field trips...woot woot.

But the day does not stop there my friends....August 24th was also Michaels 30th birthday. Sadly it was slightly overshadowed by this big school business, which I figured it would be, so I put together a little surprise party the Saturday before (unfortunately the pictures are on someone elses camera though). Can I tell you how hard it is to put a surprise together for the Mr. of all things control??? But I pulled a small little shin dig off at the downtown Aquarium and I would say it was a surprise till we walked in and saw my dad standing there (guess he didn't get the note to be seated) and of course the hostess said, "the rest of your party is upstairs". Nice.
Ok, back to his actual birthday...it was pretty low key, but I did manage to remember this little dive called, Lankfords Grocery, we had seen on Diner's Drive-ins and Dives about three weeks before that he wanted to go to, so I took him there. Seriously fantastic hamburgers. And I surprised him with a leaf blower, which may not sound that great to some, but Michael is oh so grateful for it.

And that folks was our big, vacation worthy, day!
